For sure. What's crazy is we'll watch him mow the yard, or watch hours of footage of him driving down the road. His kids are so lucky to have a father that lets em jump right in and help, and wants to pass on his knowledge. Most my upbringing was pointing out the various ways I currently and most likely in the future would screw up.

Derek’s humor & short info vid’s, such as this latest spark plugs one have definitely strengthened my interest in keeping all my auto purchases 100% over at my local O’Reilly’s. The guys working over there, being both cool & helpful kind of seal that deal ~ (just sayin’…)

Random fact. O’Reillys used to be known as HiLo auto supply down here in Texas. We only had one kind of spark plug when I worked there , cheap. 99 cents each.

Another neat sparkplug factoid. Copper plugs actually have higher spark energy due to copper's lower resistivity than other conductors used. Cooper's downfall is it erodes faster from firing and that's where the "precious metal" plugs like platinum and iridium shine. But, the "precious metal" plugs require a higher energy ignition system to get the performance out of the plug. So, if you still have points ignition, you may not be benefiting from those high-end plugs.

Before spark plugs, some engines had a live wire going through the head, the piston would made contact and the spark would form when the piston started to move down the cylinder. I think it was called a long malingering spark.

I got one for a guy, I have an LS3 crate motor with 1100 miles on it and have had 4 of 8 sparkalaters go bad, what's up???? If measuring from the end where the plug wire attached to the iridium tip, it measures open. Is the resistor opening up??? This is getting expensive.

I grew up in Flint MI. Home of GM. We are taught these things from a early age. Sad that Flint creates more Hoes and Crackheads than vehicles nowadays. It was my parents generation, the boomers. Who thought they could build a great car while getting liquored up and stoned on the assembly line. That's how we ended up with the 79 skylark.
