Its nice to see someone in a video actually demonstrate what's wrong with a pistol grip. I always keep the nozzle out in front even if it has a pistol grip or even if its a play pipe. That extra bit of hose improves your nozzle control greatly. I've seen situations where pistol grips have nearly caused injuries or total loss of the line.

I had my first Nozzle training last night and all I can say is that in the beginning of the video when he says keep it about 1-1/2 foot in front of you and turn it on slowly is MOST important because if its at 180 and that hose gets to your chest or your elbows get behind you, you're going to have a hard time!!!! - BEST OF LUCK TO ALL AND STAY SAFE.

Pistol grips are useful to hook onto things. But that's about it. That's also a drawback.

It's probably a combi-nozzle. I doubt it has a solid stream option.

Great video... as a non-firefighter I have watched many videos... yeah I am a arm chair critic... mind you I have respect all firefighters... is a VERY dangerous occupation. I see many fire fighters use the circle motion but fail to hit any of the exposed fire areas prior to advancing... you are in the critical thinking mode... so it is possible your aim is off... how would one train to keep on target while performing the circle move?
