Porsche Boxster LS3 V8 conversion Update 12.28.2015

Made this quick video a few weeks ago when the weather was absolutely fabulous. A short drive and a quick update of things to come, getting ready to fully rebuild the brakes and install an H&R coil over suspension kit!
A few squeezes of the loud pedal in there to keep you interested :p

just bought a 2002 boxster S. plan on doing the same. how much HP can the transmission handle? any room for turbos?

+Dax Rowden Hey Dax, Well so far the transmission has been great and without issue. My motor makes 480 HP and from what i've seen I think another 100-200HP would not be a problem but can't really speak beyond that. There is definitely room for turbos! Piping and inter cooling may be more of a challenge but where there is a will there is a way! If you contact me on the 986forums.com i'll point you towards a guy who is building a V8 turbo car, I think he is just doing a 5.3 single turbo but not 100%. Good luck! J

what would be an approx turnkey cost having a shop do an LS3 conversion?

+mnminnmn There are a lot of different factors that would go into a build like this. Figure a shop would charge retail for the parts, plus labor for the basic conversion which is around 120~ hours. It will likely take more time then that, plus depending on other things you do such as upgrading radiators, brakes, suspension would all be additional. To replicate a build like mine you are talking about $30,000 in parts, plus 150+ hours of labor which at our shop rate $100/hr is $15,000+. So figure about $45,000+ and a pretty long wait to get it done. If you are truly interested in one the car in this video is for sale. No wait on build time, car already shaken down and tested. 3,000 miles on the conversion, motor still under warranty - sell for $42,500.

+Stark Yep trunk is fully functional! Acutallu just posted a finished picture of it on the forums on the bottom of page 20~ 986forum.com/forums/show-tell-gallery/54328-boxsterls376-introduction-ls3-conversion-20.html Not sure on 0-60 but likely a traction limited 3~4 seconds or so... By the numbers the 1/4 should be high 10's @ approx 125mph... Thanks! J
