@@yamanmustafa7574 a big reason it won was the new weight penalties for cars with engines over 3.5 liters of displacement. Not taking anything away from Mazda, they did deserve that win, but the 787B would’ve likely gotten smoked by the V12 Jags, twin-turbo V8 Saubers, and even the longtail 962s as the 787B’s predecessors had in the years before

@@mcrichton46 Absolutely agree with you. The penalties you mentioned swung things HUGELY in Mazda's favour. They basically had to finish that race as a lot of others had issues that lead to them having to withdraw from the race. However, the 787b is the only one most people know ever existed.

A game released in spring 2001 IIRC… Was such a mind blowing leap going from GT2 to GT3 back in the day - the kind of leap we haven’t seen since. Some of these are classics cars anyway back on topic. i mean the leap from pre ps1 to ps1 3d was even bigger , pre ps1 there was no textures and the models had no reflections and were crude af . during the ps1's lifetime we saw huge leaps too, look at tekken 1 and look at tekken 3

Hello there, I haven't seen you in a while. but man, the TS020 Road Car was a monster in just stock form, I had some fun in GT3 myself taking down some modified A.I. opponents with this thing. Though granted, you could do the same with any F1 car you could win in that game. Some people have even started the game just winning the Roadster Endurance race and winning the F688/S from that event before obliterating everything. With that said, you kinda could do the same thing in GT4 in some cases from my experience. So, I can't really say PD ever cared about how overpowered a car was.

But they let you start GT4's career mode with $100.000 with the spare $10.000 if you have a GT3 file with that many credits so you can start with already with kinda OP cars in the Sunday cup and other events.

I miss the Smokey Mountain rally course, that was literally my favorite one. At 2:00 there is literally an almost straight racing line i remember taking and getting faster and faster times going through that tunnel towards the end straightaway. Really missed seeing that course in the game.

EVO VII as weird as it may sound considering the way the VI is might have been something to do with the car being sponsored by Marlboro and they may have thought the livery looked close enough to maybe have issues? Polyphony is a bit strange and that's the closest thing I can think to it making any sense, shame as I loved the original Marlboro Cedia EVO's. Alternatively could be to do with Mitsubishi being a lost cause in rallying at the time and they may have just wanted to pretend they didn't compete anymore. At the time of the game (2004) Mitsubishi was on sabbatical from rallying because of how bad the Cedia EVO was Model T and the other older cars I'm think maybe something to do with them not wanting to be raced online or something? Again weird but that's what I'm leaning towards

I miss the sheer numbers of old 'regular cars' present in the games. I loved being able to go through the list and find the exact car you own, down to the year, colour and spec then race it.

It's probably worth noting with regards to the Esso Ultraflo Supra that Enthusia had a "fictional" Exxon Ultraflo Supra, allowing it to appear in the US version of the game. All other Esso branded cars in GT3/4 (such as the Toyota GT-One and Peugeot 206 WRC) were reskinned to have Exxon variants for the US version so PD could have got round it if they wanted to. Additionally, I think you're right about the GT3 F1 cars - also worth noting the European version of GT3 had only two F1 cars, the Polyphony 001 and 002, neither of which were dirctly based on a real F1 car and instead mixed a few parts up to make them less similar to the real ones (although they're both clearly still based on the 1994 Williams and 1988 McLaren cars). Possibly between the US and European releases PD realised they were already on thin ice by copying the real cars so closely, and quickly changed them up before the game released in Europe.

If I could bring back any of these cars to another GT game, it would be the 1998 Toyota GT-One Road Car. It's incredibly fun to drive around tracks like Tokyo R246 and Grand Valley, and I love GT1 class cars.

Remeber the Mitsubishi Gto Lm Edition from Gt 1 and Gt2? This was always my favorit car in Gt. Sadly the car never came back to Gt. And i guess since you found absolutly nothing in the Internet about this beauty then it must be a fiction car. But still a great Racecar and it had 7 gears in Gt 1. Unless I'm mistaken, the MazdaSpeed6 (the 6 being based on the Atenza, or simply renamed by region IRL, not sure which) was used in the Touring Car division of World Challenge around that time (back when SCCA still ran it before SRO bought out the series). 5:12 And there's one of them! As I said, the Mazda6 started racing years after GT Concept 2001 Tokyo came out. So, it's impossible for the SCCA cars to be based on Atenza LM. Because GT Concept came out in 2002.

It's funny how the homologation rules in real-world racing (and rally) works, and how cool cars such as the Toyota Sports TS020 (GT One), Nissan R390 (GT1), Maserati MC12 Edizione Corsa, Ferrari F50 GT, McLaren F1 GT and the Mercedes Benz CLK GTR became road-legal, despite being track-toys, built solely for racing. All of these were designed for GT1 endurance racing, and the rading models saw plenty of use. Wonder how many of the homologation models that are actually registered (has licence plates) and used on the road.

I still stand firm that GT3 looks better than 4. It had better art direction and color palette. GT4 looks good but washed out compared to 3.

@@RandomCarGuy17 yeah 3 definitely had the simcade feel that GT is known for. It didn't sacrifice fun for ultra realistic. Now Sport and 7 are the pinnacle of GT physics. They are rewarding to play, but 3 is still the most fun.

Im sorry dude. But the cote d azur endurance prize car is the f686m. The right event is the miata endurance and the formula granturismo event. Also by reaccing certain % in the game you get it as a prize car.

i really wish the ts020 road car was in more games. ive never seen it outside of gt2 and 3, yet its cousin the r390 road car seems common among racing games. both are 1 of 1 and in museums, so maybe the owners of the road car ts020 will not allow any game to laser scan their car, while nismo is much more lenient about it.

That would make sense for the owners to be hesitant in letting PD scan their car. My only problem is that both road cars Toyota built are actually still owned by Toyota themselves. Polyphony's relationship with that brand is pretty close at this point, so I find it odd that Toyota would say no to PD modelling it again.

2:47 Saying the Evo WRC didn't do well is an understatement,which is weird considering the backing of the team at the time and that they didn't introduce thair WRC car almost 4 years after the WRC regulations were introduced thanks to a loophole. But basically the car was garbage on tarmac and an error by Makinen while pushing in Corsica, put his long time co-driver Risto Mannisenmäki out of action for the entire 2002 season and a bit of 2003. As if that wasen't enough, it "helped" Mitsubishi to thair worst finish ever in the manufacturers championship (last place with just 9 points) in 2002. 15:02 Tricks like this were the reason the FIA said ok screw it and the GT1 class was dissolved after 1998. Now as for the cars themselves i believe the Evos ,Esso Supra GT-One and Model T waren't included due to licensing issues and, the Mazda 6 ended up as the Touring car we had since GT4.

I loved the Evo VII Rally Car in GT3. Easily my favourite rally car in the game. Same with the non turbo F1. I don't know what it was called on the other versions, but the Polyphony 001 was amazing. I remember my brother winning the Superspeed Way Endurance with the Suzuki Escudo and winning that car when we were kids. Our jaws fell on the floor when we discovered F1 cars were in the game. I always load my save whenever I go for that car to make sure I get it in light blue as a tribute to that memory haha

Small correction, the F688 was unlocked from the Roadster endurance, not the Monaco endurance. Also the GT-One Road wasn't unlocked from the Roadster endurance.

With the livery editor in GT7 I don't see many duplicate race cars being added (eg, they're not gonna add the Denso Sard Supra that looks like the Castrol Tom's Supra already in the game)

They're not, but they would add another GT500 Supra from another year though. Which I said would be the 2000 Castrol Tom's Supra. The GT500 Supra in GT7 is the 1997 GT500 Supra, which has a different body shell in use.

Anyway, there's a 2000 Castrol Mugen NSX in the datamine leak of GT7, so if any 2000s JGTC NSX is coming, it's going to probably be that one. With that said, I'm honestly not satisfied with that as a trio, it's too disjointed. The 1997 Supra was built for different standards than the 2000 Supra, so there should be room for both.

Looking at the description for the Evo VIII Super Rally Car in GT6, it would appear to have been made specifically for inclusion in GT by PD, as if i recall the Evo 8 wasn't used in rally at the time.

correct, the Lancer WRC that competed in 2004 and 05 was based on just a plain lancer cedia, which can be seen by it's light clusters. The 1997 WRC regulations (which mitsubishi adopted way later than the others, in the second half of 2001 with the Lancer WRC1) basically meant that you can take almost any production car and turn it into a 4wd rally car without the need homologation specials, hence the 206wrc, Seat Cordoba WRC, Scoda Octavia etc.

1. The Lancer Evo VII Rally Car Prototype would not be dropped from GT for being a prototype when Polyphony would still include the prototype of its rival car, the bugeye Impreza Rally Car. Also, your point didn't explain the final Rally Car in GT Concept for being dropped in GT4. 2. The Mazda Atenza LM was fictionalized and already modeled, Polyphony doesn't drop cars for not existing yet ever. and I just said it was replaced by the Mazda6 Touring Car, that was the only reason. 3. You would have a point on that, another commentor said something similar. Except for one problem, Polyphony added a couple of WW2 Volkswagens in Gran Turismo 5, which were completely usable online despite being just as slow as the Model T. 4. Yup, I said basically the same thing about the F688/S. 5. Said that too. 6. I can definitely say that's not why it was dropped. Whether the road car was actually legal on the road or not doesn't matter in Gran Turismo nor any other racing game.
