I found the 10-series to be ok. I had a 1070 (8GB) that was a decent performer. The 1080 Ti (11GB) was a major disappointment, it had lots of memory but I thought that the GPU itself had poor performance for the outrageous price. I just screwed myself financially for a 4070 Ti Super. The price tag was beyond LUDICROUS, but it has the performance to match! For all the fuss people made over the 1080 Ti, I think it was a bit of a turkey. Modern graphics cards are ridiculously expensive but they have *awesome* performance. Try a 40 series card one day and while the money will really hurt, they are modern-day graphics cards with modern-day performance.

@@mikeoxlong6351 You mean my post? Yeah, I think the new cards are dreadfully expensive. I also think their performance is amazing. The older "God-Tier" 1080 Ti was hyped up to the max as next-generation technology with a massive step up in performance that must be tried to be believed. I bought a 1080 Ti. I didn't think they were all that great--all hype and big $$$ but not much better performance than the 1070 I replaced with it. The 4070 Ti Super (16 GB) I have now was obscenely overpriced and I'm kicking myself in the crotch for buying it, it was a really stupid thing to buy because I'm poor! But it has all the performance to go along with its ludicrous price. The 40 cards are legitimately amazing in terms of performance and they even seem to do a nicer job of raytracing than the 30-series ones. You don't buy a Porsche 911 Turbo for Toyota Corolla prices. It's not because Corollas suck, it's because the 911 Turbo has exotic levels of performance so it costs a hell of a lot more. Everybody wants an RTX 4090 for 250 bucks. It's not happening!

For that you're looking at $500. Mostly because you really need 16 GB of RAM if you want a card to have the longevity that the 1060 had. I paid $30 for it and it ran Cyberpunk at 1080p low with ultra performance FSR 2.1 at a steady 30fps. Probably the best price/performance I've ever gotten out of a GPU. I forgot I was playing the game on an old POS because it was so smooth and consistent at 30 fps, compared to running unlocked on a much more powerful GPU. I still have this card (same manufacturer and model as shown in the video), bought it in 2016. Recently had to replace the fans, but other than that, it runs with zero issues (ofc i do annual cleaning and redo thermal paste, but still, amazing value for good performance and reliability). I've been running it with 10% factory overclock preset as well since i bought it, paired it with an i5-6600K (also 10% factory OC). Whats really funny is, that i could've sold it 4 years ago for about the same asking price as the retail price was just before the crypto boom (was lucky to buy it a month before that). In retrospect, i probably should've done that lol.

My dual GPU system with Linux on bare metal and Windows in VM recently started having issues with my 5700XT becoming unstable. I dropped in a 1070 that i had already for reasons, and was quite pleasantly surprised by the performance. 10 series was a great generation.

Good video. I bought a Gigabyte gtx 1060 6gb when it was newly released and it was a great 1080p card. It replaced my gtx 660 3gb oem card. My cpu was a socket 1366 Xeon 6 core/ 12 thread. I discovered the Xeon cpu was a bottleneck when I upgraded to rtx 2060 and there was virtually no difference. That is when I went to a Ryzen cpu. BIG difference.

That particular 1060 is a good model, runs very quiet. I built a system for someone a couple of years ago with a 5600X and the same 1060, for running mainly ETS2, it did a fine job, 60Hz locked (which is preferable for sim gaming). Note the 1060 is on a par with the GTX 980 for speed, but of course it has a VRAM advantage and some other things. I found the RX 580 8GB (testing with a Red Devil) is often about the same, but it depends on the game (it was 10% slower for ETS2, but faster for other games).

Just bought a used GTX 1660 for an ancient T3600 built - 110 bucks was a bit much for my liking (should really have been around 80) but in the end all other cards where like 150 and above for a vega 56 or a 2060 etc. So seeing that a 1060 still works pretty well makes the 30 bucks a bit more bearable.

I love the 1060 6GB for low end gaming PCs I am selling. The performance is actually decent. You aren't going to be running AAA games at high, but with FSR you can play most of them if you aren't too picky about image. In this area I can pick them up for about $50, and they pair great with older CPUs, and will run ESports very well. A 6th or 7th Gen i5, 16GB of RAM, and one of these makes for a half way decent PC, and a reasonable profit at about $250-275.
