You would think in such a tiny, lightweight GPU that's also only x4 that they would size the pins accordingly. It looks funny to see the x16 length but only pinned as x4. It feels like a missed opportunity for an easy way to save material. It doesn't seem like a lot, but on a major scale where if every ten boards they made, they were able to make another one out of what would have otherwise been waste, that's a decent amount of money saved in materials at the end of the run. I don't know if that's how it works with PCB's and saving the fiberglass and other materials and stuff, but you showcased that 4060 a while back that was only pinned to x8 and that was a big card, they have to had done that for a reason.
@samwalker75679 ай бұрын
My guess would be for literal physical stability... x16 length means more contact with longer slots even if you're not using that as electrical contact. A x4 connector has physically less material to keep it in place when inserted. When you consider that these are mostly intended for business use to drive multi-monitors, the design choice makes sense - it's going in some box that will get knocked, kicked, bumped etc, especially as non-technical users stick a bunch of DisplayPort cables into them. The cost of a small amount of extra PCB (which isn't really "extra" anyway as a shorter slot just means more cut-off waste) is nothing compared to the cost incurred by companies calling IT support for display issues. So the manufacturers just price up a bit to cover their costs there and it's a non-issue. Whilst these aren't Radeon Pro cards (and therefore aren't in the high reliability guarantee product lines) I would guess a fair few out there in the wild are using the AMD Software: Pro Edition for the more stable drivers given their intended use case.

@@betag24cnThe i in iGPU means integrated, not intel. Both AMD and Intel have iGPUs. The point is these cards are almost totally useless for games, so adding tthat 'capability' in ther form of a few cores is pointless. By adding the useless features they are just making them cost more. Personally I'd refer they sold these with the media engines and display outputs intact, but skipped the useless 'gaming' cores.
@chrism29649 ай бұрын
@@knifemindI''d prefer they dropped the gaming pretence and sold them as media engines with extra display capability. They would be cheaper and use less power.

A perfect fit to use AFMF in a hybrid GPU setup:)

I think it's better if you use act 3 as benchmark in BG3. That entire section is an FPS killer and it would make a much more 'real' performance benchmark to see how a GPU handles crowded areas.

would love a video explaining these terms TAA, FSR, FXAA, AA, Presets etc.. i'm not very well versed in graphic options 🥲🙏

Gaming with 25w! that deserves more praise.

That's actually kinda impressive, thats a nice performance for just 25w of power

That’s one hell of a heatsink for an i3 😂

Honestly, it would be good for CSM machines that can do light gaming, there are a few more options for those kinds of computers, however. The RX 6300 is a little faster than a GT 1030 but it can probably play Skyrim all the same.

Great, just what we needed. Newer, pricier, and more power hungry display adapters.

It's all to do with expectations. The weird thing is that I've been gaming for a very long time. I remember a time when anything above 2-3FPS was considered acceptable and polygons weren't filled with textures, or even were not filled at all and were just wireframes. In slower-paced games 20-30fps seems perfectly playable to me, so long as the game engine doesn't slow down (as a few do) to "keep up" with the graphics. Also most games look pretty good to me even on low/medium settings and I usually prefer to drop a detail level than to use upscaling. As I like to say "I have better things to spend my money on than slightly more detailed backgrounds". Well. I did that they until I started to muck about with LLM and generative AI. oh, lord. THEN you need the 24 gigs. :-) It would be nice if a quick image could be done using something like Stable Diffusion and via Automatic1111 at the end of these reviews - just to add something other than gaming. Just a set series of imagine with a known seed number, so it's always consistent.

I'd be curious to see how well this card could handle multiple simultaneous H264 encoding & decoding tasks, as it would fit perfectly in a 1U rackmount server we have at the place where I work running our security camera, and would be a good alternative to software encoding on the CPU.

Compared to the RX 550 this videocard seems good as hell, this thing on the brazilian market would be sould a lot. These types of video cards that don't require a good psu are the ones that sell the most here. This thing is better than an GTX 1050

I did have a Rx 6500 xt and thought it was a pretty decent low budget graphics card

Yeah, I had one for a little bit. As long as you had it in a PCIE 4.0 system it was fine as a budget GPU. Should’ve not been more than £150 though.

The brunt of the load is put on the CPU instead of the GPU... I think the numbers with an AMD CPU would be quite different. We know that the 12100 and 13100 are good for the low end and far better than the same on AMD. What do you all think?

Honest question, how is your minimum framerate higher than your 1% and your 0.1%? Wouldn't they be higher than it since they're not the minimum then?
@Kraven839 ай бұрын
I'm also confused about this. Hope he explains it in a future video
@salvo279 ай бұрын
Usually 1% and especially 0.1% are related to the instant frame drops you get like during stutter or loading. Minimum is what your game usually get as low during smooth gameplay.
@BottomOfTheDumpsterFire9 ай бұрын
@@salvo27 That's not what minimum measures, it's the worst frametime you got during your test in a one-second interval, measured as FPS. 1% and 0.1% are your 1% lowest framerates measured and 0.1% lowest framerates measured, which is why they're being used instead of minimum; a single bad stutter permanently screws over your minimum, but if the rest of it is smooth, then the 1% and 0.1% show that they're close to the average. This is the issue - You can't have 1% of your measured framerates be lower than your lowest measured framerate.

@@BottomOfTheDumpsterFire Thank you for detailing it to me,it do seems like a weird measure then.It's not the first time that I see that,I've seen it in some other benchmarks too

The thing with most of these cheap cards is the people buying them are more likely to not care and just play the game at 720p low
