The 57-58 Fury is an absolutely gorgeous car. It's too bad they had the build quality and rust issues they had

God bless this guy! GORGEOUS car and it's so cool that when everyone turned their backs on big fins and flash around '62, he stayed with it. Even during the bleak early '70s years when these cars were being destroyed in Motorama shows and thrown in junk yards, he kept his and kept it well. SO LUCKY he had all these years with the most beautiful car ever built. Thanks for posting!

My dad bought a new 58 Fury when I was 11 years old. it was the 350 Golden Commando with torque flite and limited slip. I loved that car and it was awesome fast. I rode in it at well over 100mph. My mom used to love to hot rod that thing and put glass pack mufflers on it. Unfortunately they only kept it for 2 years because of gas mileage. Gas was only about .20/gal! He ended up trading it in for a 60 Plymouth station wagon with a 6 cyl and 3 speed on the column. What a dog! I have missed that car for for over 60 years.

I love the car. Absolutely beautiful. I few fact corrections through. It was a 350 not 340, and did not have an overhead cam. But all that is not important. It's an amazing car. Thanks for the nice video.

Mike Petroff hi. Thanks for your comment. When I heard " overhead cam " I literally thought I had misheard and backed video up twice!! Then I thought...well I'll be...OHC in 1958?!? Now I've heard everything LOL. Thanks for the correction. Now I can sleep knowing that I'm not delusional or hallucinating LOL.

Yeah, 340 didn't come out for over another decade, It was 350, It was the first in the 361 383 and 413 Family

The reason Christine was red was because of who she was a " Fury". All the other ones in line, they were her mellow relatives.😁

I had one of these, loved it. The engine displacement of the engine was 350 cubic inches. The only thing it would not pass was a gas station.

Great story - I wish him the best with his Plymouth. My dad bought a 1957 Plymouth Belvedere 2 door canary yellow and white top and the motor went after only about 20,000 miles due to oil circulation problems. He had the motor rebuilt . Also, rusted out at the headlight area and he purchased head light partial replacement pieces and had them welded on. My dad painted the car himself too. Push button transmission and sometimes the buttons would stick in and you would need a screw driver to release. They were fast cars too with the V-8 and automatic transmissions. Great looking cars but, he always said it was the worst car he owned. I think cost was $2700 new. Thanks for sharing your story!

Hey Tony. That must have been quite expensive back in '57.

@@brianmbanga7306I remember my dad had it pulled and rebuilt by a friend he worked with that could fix all cars back then. He was a master mechanic in the tool shop too. I think it was less than $250 in 1961 and the friend let him drive his 1957 Desoto for a week til the Plymouth was repaired. People really helped people out back then. Most house holds only had (1) car. Ran great after the rebuild too. He kept the 57 Plymouth til 1965 and sold it for $200. Take care!

Beautiful car! Bravo to him for keeping it all these years. I received a bin full of die cast models from a friend whose husband passed away recently and a '58 Fury like that is part of the collection. It's a keeper!

What an absolutely drop dead gorgeous mouth-wateringly sexlicious car. The stuff dreams are made of. Pure art and history and history on 4 wheels. Extremely enviable car. I'm really happy for this gentleman. I literally pray that when this fine senior goes to his rest that this elegant beauty will wind up in the hands of someone who understands what this car is and treat her like the gem that she is.

The owner mis-spoke. Its a 305 horsepower 350 cubic inch engine with dual quads...not a 340. The base engine was a 290 horsepower 318 with dual quads. Awesome ride

Sounds like it was going to correct himself and say 350, but he got mixed up it seems. Besides, by looking at his t-shirt, I'm presuming he was born in 1937, making him 81-82 years old. The fact he can remember things from 60+ years ago is awesome in itself!

Christine was a great movie sad they had to destroy that many cars for it💔
@smellsuperb1
@smellsuperb1 2 жыл бұрын
They didn't destroy 43 cars, if I remember correctly it destroyed 26 in total. They were pieces of Belvedere's, plazas, and Savoy's that they cut up to recreate a fury. If I'm not mistaken also, they only use two actual furies for the movie.
