Okay Lou, more family stories....My sister had 1958 Belvedere sport coupe. Hers was black with red and black interior. It was not in great condition. Someone who owned it before had removed the front seat and replaced it with two bucket seats from an early Ford Mustang. They were light blue, that di dnot match the rest of the black and red interior. The carpet was mising and it had holes in the floor boards and you could see the road going by if you were sitting back there. I loved that black car and was heartbroken when she got rid of it. They said the rear end was going out! I was a teenager and did not know what that meant. This was one of the cars I wish I owned...until Christine came out. Now I don't believe I could own one. I'm too sared! HA HA. Thanks for the vid.

Thanks Lou. Good episode, as always. What a nice guy Anthony is, and it's really great seeing a guy that's truly enthusiastic about his car. He sure knows all the details. And I have to say that he's one guy who truly deserves the beautiful car that he has. I had just watched two episodes of Graveyard Cars that restored the same car as intended to be another Christine, and the reveal took place at SEMA. I like Anthony's car better because it has a 318, and that was a brand-new engine for 1957. It was an engine intended only for Plymouth's. But people really liked them, so they became very popular. And as many of us know the 318 went on to become one of the most beloved engines in history.

When I first saw the movie Christine, I found Arnie's '58 Plymouth Fury in the same boat with an Early American mate's chair that came with my first student desk. I refinished it to match the desk that my computer now sits on. But back then, it was my study desk and I was attending Community College. Arnie had gone to the time and trouble to restore Christine, and his girlfriend pressured him to get rid of Christine after having choked on the burger at the drive in movie. A teacher at my community college, who casually asked me about my study area and asked me what kind of chair I was sitting in when studying I said "Mate's chair". Like Arnie's girlfriend pressured Arnie to get rid of Christine, she suggested the mate's chair wasn't a suitable study chair. I had gone to the time and trouble to refinish the mate's chair, like Arnie had gone to the time and trouble to restore Christine. The original reason I loved the mate's chair as much as Arnie loved Christine, is it's distinctive guitar shaped seat, which most people don't notice. I was also fond of it's ornate spindle back and scalloped back rail. I noticed the guitar shaped seat the first time I sat in one at Pizza Hut as a six year old child. There were two periods when Pizza Hut had mate's chairs in their old "red roof" style restaurants. After the second time Pizza Hut got rid of the mate's chairs in 1984, I came up with the elaborate story of Christine bringing the mate's chairs back to our nation's Pizza Hut restaurants during early morning hours. She'd pull her starboard side up to the customer entrance, use her supernatural powers to unlock and open the door. The bentwood chairs would scoot out from under the tables simultaneously. Then the mate's chairs on their sides, seat to seat in Christine's passenger compartment would drift out of Christine's starboard side in mid air, into the dining room and place under the tables. Christine would then extract the bentwood chairs, pile them into her, and then as she headed for the next location, she'd use her supernatural powers and reversal odometer to transform the bentwood chairs into mate's chairs piece by piece. But finding my beloved mate's chair in the same boat as Christine is what got me obsessed with Christine. This day and time, Christine's and mate's chairs have one thing in common. They're both hard to come by.

@@loucostabile I dream of having a Christine that really has that reversal odometer that generates that rejuvenating power. It would not only rejuvenate Christine herself, but also anyone or anything in her. I myself could stand some rejuvenating. Her odometer could rejuvenate my eyes like it did for Arnie, and I wouldn't need my glasses anymore. It could also give me back the full head of hair that I dearly miss. Also, if my DVD player is pixilating and freezing up, or if my flat screen TV craps out on me. Take it in Christine, get on I-77 South, and drive down to Columbia SC and back, to Charlotte NC where I live. Her odometer would rejuvenate it and make it as good as new. Her odometer would also come in handy if a dinner guest leans back on two legs or slouches down after cleaning his plate, and damages or breaks one of my beloved mate's chairs. I say that rejuvenating mate's chairs is Christine's specialty, though she could rejuvenate other things. The Christine I dream of having also has something that your Christine and most others don't have. Real A/C, which was an option back in 1957 and '58. Unlike in today's vehicles, it's receiver would be a box mounted under the dash above the tranny hump. It'd have four vents that you could point in different directions. It'd have it's own blower. In today's vehicles, the heat, A/C and defroster all share the same blower. But the components under the hood would be virtually the same. The compressor would be driven by a belt that ran off of the engine crankshaft pulley. The condenser would probably be behind the starboard side of the grille. My sweetheart Harris and I this day and time don't feel safe driving with the windows down, due to aggressive drivers, street corner panhandlers, and car jackers. My predecessor with Harris, her first boyfriend was kidnapped and murdered by a man who forced his way into his vehicle at a traffic light. He held a knife to his throat, and made him drive to a secluded area where he stuck the knife in. That was in 1985, and he committed that crime to finance a 200 dollar a day cocaine habit. He was the last prisoner to die in Pennsylvania's electric chair ten years later before they switched to lethal injection. But your Christine an most others only have 265 A/C. That means that you roll down both the port and starboard windows and go 65 miles an hour.

My Uncle Herman had a '58 Plymouth. It was pretty basic but I remember being stuck in snow and him pushing the buttons back n forth trying to move the car and cussing the whole time. Another jewel Lou!

Seen any corpses appear in the back seat when cruising on hot summer nights, listening to The Big Bopper and Buddy Holly, and reliving the "not so fabulous" 1950s?

Very nice car and owner. I was in HS when the movie came out and, like every young person at the time, loved that movie. I was also already a fan of the old cars and loved the car itself. I was always a Chevy fanatic, but the '57-'58 Plymouth's have wonderful lines.

My dad had a 58 Plymouth Belvedere convertible naturally I thought it was a cool car being a convertible. This was years before they had the movie. Christine have the same motor in his one of the first cars he had that he would let me drive on the street, but he always had to be with me.
