First time I heard it I knew. I bet the first group of kids fought over leadership and what they were to be about which is why they broke apart and made different tribes, maybe not all the tribes at once, but through the generations. They had that impact. The Nora worships mother's, which most likely comes from the robot mother who was the only one who acted nice to the children, told them to be brave and therefore you got nora braves worshipping mothers, while all-mother the robot sleeps inside the mountain they worship, she slew the metal devil, being the one who punished the kids. That's just my view, you also have them wanting to see the sun so at least one of those kids went on to worship it making the sundom. But if you really pay attention it isn't hard to spot these possibilities.

God damn. This is the most tragic bit of lore in the whole game. “Discontented lost souls” really hammers it home. And with APOLLO being gone we see how the system almost caved in on itself. And these poor children had NO idea what was going on. NO idea where they were or who they were and why they’re there and it really hurt my heart to see all of this laid out. The new humans of HZD COULD have been raised properly and learned of the old ones and moved on to heal the world. But nope. Yoink. Thanks Ted

Interesting how the Nora’s seemingly sole method of punishment amongst their own, becoming an outcast for an appropriate amount of time befitting the crime, is the logical evolution of the multiservitors’ time out punishments given to the humans who would become the proto-tribe that evolved into the Nora.

imagine being trapped in eluthia9 all your life, only to step out into the embrace, wild and free, and to look back, at the mountain, of which you were contained all this time. to see your world go on and on for thousands of km. it must have been terrifying.

Something I noticed: the mother servitor seems to be the basis for All-Mother. "I will stay here, and sleep, and remember all of you". The Nora believe that when they die, they will live on in All-Mother's eternal memory. In contrast, the father servitor seems to be the basis for the Nora's lore regarding the Metal Devil. The datapoints shown seem to portray the father in a negative light: either not understanding them or being aggressive. The Metal Devil is seen as the father of all machines. The first new humans were aware that the servitors were machines, and this might have been the root of their technophobia.

I think the Metal Devil is actually far more literal than that. When you go into the mountain and face the door, turn around and look up. You will see a Faro robot, namely a FAS-BOR7 Horus. So when you put two and two together. The first thing the children see when they exit is that they are in the heart of a mountain, with a 'metal devil' having seemingly fallen right before breaching the Eleuthia's facility. So the obvious conclusion? 'All-Mother' did not just raise them up, she was actively battling with an evil force, hell bent on destroying her and them. What I really want to know, is how that Horus found its way to that mountain? When? Was there a breach in the seam? Like a small gap that slowly widened enough to be detectable? Or, was the existence of the Zero Dawn facilities somehow leaked? Remember that in reality, the Horus must have been disabled by Minerva right before it could breach the facility. Which means that the Faro swarm could not have been assaulting that mountain for at least 49 years after Zero Day. So why, after 49 years of hibernation, did the Horus launch an assault on the mountain?

Dang if only Elisabet had thought to download Apollo onto the multiservitors as a final fail safe in case something like what Ted Faro did were to happen. That way they could still relay the information and maybe with enough education the children would be able to grow and eventually access the information similar to downloading information onto a flash drive.

@@TwinPeaksIndustries The thing is, Apollo itself was built with multiple redundancies in mind, but the only thing they did not account for was sabotage from within. Becuase everybody on the project knew how integral Apollo was to Gaia. The full functions of Artemis could only be unlocked by Elutians approved by Apollo. This means that the biosphere in horizon zero dawn is still incomplete, and the only thing keeping the world going are the Hephaestus robots who are still somehow keeping the ecosystem in balance. But of course ted faro, the man with no scientific background (a business scl dropout) did not understand any of this. He did not even think to consult with the alphas, who were all more intelligent and qualified than him, before making his idiotic decision. Elisabet may have known that ted faro could not be trusted which is why he was kept in the dark mostly about the project. What she did not anticipate was that faro would for some reason have omega clearance, which gave him powers over the project that he should never have had.

This has been one of my major contentions since I first visited ELEUTHIA-9: the seeming miracle of emotionally stunted or even damaged adolescents without any tools, skills, knowledge, infrastructure, _anything_ could survive outside the Cradle facilities at all, and how Ted's shortsightedness and selfishness could very well have damned the human species to a second extinction. It _should_ have, by all accounts. And yet, they _somehow_ kept going.

One thing I've always assumed about the various tribes we see in the game is that they *all* originated in this cradle, not just the Carja and Nora. It is just that the Carja are the only ones we have the specific splitting off point for (helped by their use of writing). The cradles were all split fairly far apart and I find it unlikely that the populations of any two are likely to find each other without the advancements of Apollo. The only reason why we are seeing this particular area is because its cradle facility is the closest to Gaia's core. It's also quite likely that not all the cradles were successful in releasing a population that survived.

Its spine chilling and just astonishing to imagine these early lives, and how their own imaginations created the future mythologies of the tribes. It reminds me of Adam and Eve, these two kids. They're created by God, not AIs, and placed, albeit not pushed, out into this world that they have to survive in. The other opposing idea is that Adam and Eve didn't struggle to survive in the Garden of Eden. But that's almost too different - and too similar at the same time - of a story. One of the most fascinating lore of the game.

It's silly, but I get myself imagining how life in Eleuthia-9 was for the first humans. Many babies or children must have died and robots had to colect their corpses. How a child would react as soon as they found out their infant friend slept and wont wake up no more? Imagine how those humans who have never interacted with older humans could develop their sense of empathy and community. It's must've been specially hard during puberty and teenangerhood, with all those hormones going on and having noone to teach them how to deal with masturbation, sex, etc, 'cos I belive this kind of knowledge was Apolo's domain. Probably many of them got pregnent without knowing what is going on. Yeah. It's amazing how this population survived.

Why didn't GAIA have a subsector to construct buildings? I guess the cauldrons/bunkers would suffice as living places but shouldn't the AI have been thinking, oh once these thousands of humans have been ready to be released, they will need a place to stay and have infrastructure, etc. Or would they have had the superior knowledge from APOLLO and just build them super quickly themselves?

I would love to see a video on the origins of tribal cultures. As you pointed out in your video, one of the early paintings could suggest an early but weaker devotion to the sun and the Nora tribe were much the product of the computer system of Eleuthia-9. Perhaps other tribes take on the characteristics of their own birthing chambers in their region. The Banuk were well developed in the expansion, I would love to see more on the origins of tribal culture in the next game. Fingers crossed. Excellent video. Hey, not to show off, but I want to add a piece of information regarding the treatment that the disciplinary multiservitor had with people. At 5:42, you mention how the disciplinarians detained the children and isolated them. Even when they were adults. This data I got from TV Tropes, but that's very similar to what the Nora do to outcasts. More than a form of exile from ancient times, it is similar to what adults do in a group of children when one misbehaves: They separate him from the group and do not let him talk or let anyone talk to him for a while, but always They keep him close to prevent something bad from happening to him. Just like the Nora, only taken to the extreme: Exile prohibits you from interacting with other Nora for a long time, after which, you can return to the tribe.

I have a question about Eleuthia. According to the number of computers in Eleuthia-9, Eleuthia should have dozens of children. But in holograms we see only a few children. In order to establish a population, there must have been at least 150 people. And according to what appeared to be, there were not so many Cradles in the world, with perhaps three or four in North America. So how exactly did these people become the tribes we know today? For me it just does not make sense. Additionally. 6:20, can they be referred to the Spire? In addition 2, Apollo was also deleted from the computers at ELEUTHIA-9?

I think you should do a video on the origins of humans in horizon. I think all humans came from the mother mountain and there differences spread them far and wide. I think the nora the brave ie be brave are those devoted to the mother figure while hating servitors ie machinery that punished them while the mother being a loving holigram. making machinesis forbidden and the crade home. The sacred lands never leaving all mother. They were narrow minded of there race and hence never left the sacred lands and made timber and rope houses. Low tech. Aloy was so different as her dna was that of a genius. The banuk are those nora not afraid of the forbidden lands perhaps explorers of the nora and curious that were exiled and forced to live on there own in the northern wastes some became starving canibals the ravenous as has happened to those trapped in the snows in real life. You must fend for yourself. The carja being devoted to the sun they have wanted to see all there lives and following the suns path led them a long way from there birth place to where they live now. There need to be closer to the sun made them build large castles of stone to get closer to the sun hence the platform they built it all on being so tall. They worship the sun. Everything the sun touches is theres hence they had no aversion to exploring and took what they want from tribes around them. Shadow carja just being an off shoot of the carja. And lastly the oseram those that disagreed with the others took a different approach and lived and survived through creative and became familiar with crafting and smithing. Explore. They had the least fear of all for technology birthing the guy that used the lure signal technology. I know little of the oseram so there could be more basis with there hystory. The technology is interesting. I also notice over 800 years human population is still so small. This is the reason i think they all came from one cradle. 250-500 individuals could creat 5 tribes with enough diversity to create the apparent 1000-2000 humans seen in the lands. I expect many have died over the years due to machines, each other and the environment. But i think we did not see the full extent of the set up inside all mother to explain how all humans came from the same place. One country each to have one cradle and we only see a part of america in the game and limited racial diversity. Other minority's being far more extensive at other cradles around earth. Possibly there was only enough resources and time for project zero dawn to operate in one country and what we see is all there is. The plague did not start in America giving them more time then other developing countries that had armed forces deployed first.

Great work, but... Difference between watching H:ZD and play, is like between watching porn and have real sex...No offence, but HORIZON is the game which you should play by yourself, it is a game that worth to by PS4 Pro, for me it even was argue to buy new OLED TV!

Do you agree with me that seeing Elisabeth as Aloys mom is not the right perspective? We should see her as her Twin-sister born in a different age but reddit begs to differ. P.S. Erend is the worst character in Horizon.

Well I see where your coming from, but I think the narrative of the overarching story lends to Aloy seeing Elisabet as a mother figure. Genetically they are nearly identical (more to your twin sister point), but her journey is to find who she really is, and Aloy's final cut scene and the audio with it really hammer home that Aloy is essentially the daughter Elisabet always hoped for, but never had.
