@RaptorJesusАй бұрын
Honestly, as someone a little further down said, you could've still done this super-lazy by putting everything but the pasta on a baking sheet, douse it in olive oil, and then set it in the oven. When it's done, drain the pasta, save some of the water, put the stuff from the sheet into the pot, mix it around, add a little of that pasta water until you've got the consistency you want, and then add in the pasta. Done. Lazy *and* still tasty.

@mattclark8746Ай бұрын
Well, you nailed it(unfortunately). Leave it to Jack to take fresh ingredients and cook them in a way that makes it taste like a premade frozen dinner. Lol! If adding ingredients one at a time, based on what cooks the slowest/fastest is too difficult. Jack could've throw everything(except pasta) onto a cookie sheet, covered in olive oil s/p and bake it while boiling the pasta. HONESTly, every time I cook Italian, it's just an excuse to eat tons of parm cheese.
@edgelordleon5859Ай бұрын

@komiks42Ай бұрын
You need to chop onions and tomatos. I'd say its lazy
@emerybryantАй бұрын
if jack were to put the tomatoes and onions in pan. let them cook a bit and soften and develope extra flavor. add the basil. then cover in water. it would be soooo much better and no extra effort just time. let the sauce reduce a bit... again extra time. then add a bit more water and pasta. it wouls turn out 10x better with no extra effort. just maybe like an extra 20 min.
@emerybryantАй бұрын
and additional points for pureeing the sauce before adding the pasta. small effort.
@FrancoisTremblayАй бұрын
I agree with your conclusion. Usually the "lazy man's" recipes are not actually lazy, they are just complicated for no reason... but this one IS a lazy man's recipe. It's the kind of thing you might do if you didn't know how to make pasta, or if you were depressed.

@@HonestTries A little less water, a good amount of garlic powder even though I used a lot of fresh garlic. Some chicken stock, rosemary powder, white pepper and red pepper flakes. I added an about 1/4 cup of fresh grated parm to the concoction and it ended up almost like an Alfredo. I added some fine basil chiffonade, a heathy dose of micro planed parm and some black truffle salt when I plated it. It gave me some inspiration to make a videos fixing bad recipes. @DJMcFlintyАй бұрын
it's not even less dishes, you can cook the veg first, pour it in the bowl you will use, then just boil the pasta in the veg pan and combined at the end. the lazy way would be to replace the onion and garlic with powder and the tomatoes with canned slop, but its worth the 4 extra minutes tbh

This is the pasta version of Garbage Stew - just boil everything together all at the same time without regard for differences in cooking time. I understand what he was going for, there are a lot of 'one pot' recipes like this that work fine. But as you noticed... you have to, you know, add flavor... Some recipes do this by using broth instead of water, or using a can of chopped tomatoes with the liquid, a little tomato paste. Or stirring in mascarpone cheese or something at the end. (Or even just like, some seasoning, spices, anything? Jack?) Something so that you end up with a pasta and a sauce coming together. I just feel like so many of his recipes are just one or two things away from being fine.
