I would have used honey like I would have microwaved some honey with the peanut butter that would have been a better sweetener and it would have been a little sweeter I think and you just need overripe bananas 🤣 but I like to use applesauce myself instead of the bananas without self-rising flour is an interesting recipe I'll have to try it

maybe the appeal is it being 'healthier' than regular brownies but in terms of effort it seems about the same, i mean you're dirtying a couple utensils, a bowl, and a pan, may as well just measure out a couple more ingredients and make a proper dessert

Brownies shmownies, but movies... I have to agree with your wife here... Never seen Home Alone and I do not understand the whole hype and appeal of it. My favorite movie is The Santa Clause, the one in which Tim Allen becomes Santa. Oh and any day before the first of December is waaay too early for Christmas stuff...

the thing about sugar is that it's actually a very weak tasting ingredient, think about how much sugar is in sweets that we eat, it takes a lot of sugar to sweeten things.

I mean, to be fair, while it's not necessarily easier than brownie mix, there IS something here. It's a fascinating recipe, and actually kind of clever... Which means it definitely isn't Jack's recipe, but that's beside the point. While bananas and peanut butter typically aren't "low sugar," they definitely wouldn't be as high as a regular brownie. Presuming it doesn't NEED the emulsifiers present in processed peanut butter (so you could switch it for something a bit more wholesome), this could be tooled into a decent low-sugar recipe.

When it comes to scraping stuff down or out of measuring cups and bowls i like to use a spatula (not the spongebob spatula thats actually a turner, but a rubber spatula) Rubber spatulas are able to bend to meet the curvature of the objects very easily and are great for making folds in a batter as well Thats just from me self teaching baking so im probably not the best source, but i just wanted to offer my two cents
