I love that man so much. He’s like a wise, lovable, huggable old Southern grandpa. The kind of guy you’d like to go camping and fishing in the woods with. A guy who can always cheer you up when you’re feeling blue. Someone who can make you laugh. He also has a voice with an accent that’s not stereotypical at all, it’s so distinctive that you can’t imagine anyone else with that kind of Southern drawl. There’s warmth to it. There’s emotion. There’s depth. And that’s very evident in the voiceover work he did at Disney. And even though he passed away 30 years ago, he’ll still be greatly missed. Thanks Pat, we love you. 💐❤

I was on this show. This was July 26, 1990. I played a song on the banjo with Julie Wingfield on guitar.

It's funny how Pat talks about swindlers, when he was best known for playing one of the funniest swindlers of all time on Green Acres.

Gene and Pat were great together. After Smiley Burnett was put under contract to Columbia Gene needed a new sidekick, he remembered his old friend Pat Buttram and the rest is history.

I loved the joke Buttram did beginning at 0:22! I'd never heard that one before. It caught me off guard, I thought he was serious at first.

@@morgenshternlive3227 Agreed, brother. Mr. Buttram himself was an amazing Sheriff of Nottingham. Not to mention that 1994 was the last year for Pat Buttram before he was retired of becoming the Disney voice actor of Napoleon Bonaparte (The Aristocats, 1970), The Sheriff of Nottingham (Robin Hood, 1973), Luke the Rat (Disney's the Rescuers, 1977), Chief the Irish Wolfhound (The Fox and the Hound, 1981), and the Possum Park Emcee or Employee (hence the credits to the name "Pat Butrum", A Goofy Movie, 1995). At age 78, Mr. Buttram died of kidney failure in California and Mr. Haney himself had to be buried at the Maxwell Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. No one really knows in Addison, Alabama where the tracks of Pat Buttram might lead us to his birthplace.....

Curiously enough, Pat once stated he based his characterization of "Mr. Haney" on Colonel Tom Parker!
