It's the hardest thing to imitate. You can learn Hendrix licks and be playing theoretically the same thing as him, but it doesn't sound like him without his unique way of floating around the beat, stretching and shrinking the notes to get ahead or behind.

Saw Randy Hansen " Machine Gun " tour in 1985 Denver Rainbow Theater. Still remember it as one of the best, most raw and natural shows ever. I was and still am a huge Hendrix fan and this guy does Jimi justice.

Had the privilege of seeing and hearing Randy Hansen in 1984 at the Palace West Theater in downtown Phoenix Az. He was touring up his first Lp, and shreddin out Hendrix tunes as well. Great fuckin night.

He is very, very good, but not Jimi. (and he knows it too) It's a bit like "here's a Jimi lick, here's the next one etc." That Jimi's organic developement of the tone and sound, and uncopyable timing and sense of microtonality just isn't there. In 5 seconds you hear it's someone else. But so what. He isn't Jimi, he's Randy. I raise my hat to Randy.
