Born on October 29, 1961, Randy Jackson sometimes performed with his brothers in The Jackson 5. He became an official member in the mid-1970s, when the group became known as the Jacksons. Jackson and his brothers had several hit records, including Victory in 1984. He released a solo album in 1989. These days, Jackson is better known for his disputes regarding his late brother Michael Jackson's estate, and other arguments with some of his family members, than he is for his music career.

@@lindsaykania106 yes!! Tito, The quiet One as far as the Jackson 5 goes you are right. Randy's contributing to the group later was phenomenal. I just wish Motown would have allowed Tito to be more free in production in songwriting.. we didn't get to see that until they collaborated with Kenny Gamble and Leon huff.

Even Michael himself said the Randy was the most musically inclined of all the brothers because Randy played several instruments and was proficient in all of them. Randy was definitely underrated.

Joe Jackson produced the 1978 single "How Can I Be Sure?" for Randy and the idea was to put out Randy's solo album around the same time The Jacksons released the DESTINY album. But DESTINY did so well they never went back to the idea of that solo album. Randy didn't get around to recording solo again until the 1989 album RANDY AND THE GYPSYS, and it didn't sell well. What is amazing is that EVERY Jackson sibling has released a solo album, some siblings releasing several. These days Randy is living with sister Janet.

@@damienlomax1946 yes Randy was very talented, but he let a lot of his personal life as well as maybe I don't know because he's never talked about it in a interview not having the ambition or passion for a solo career get in the way of his success (like many talented stars who had potential).Like the situation with his oldest kids mother weather true or not it seemed like he took the bad boy route with how much he got in trouble back then .But I also think he was a private person I don't know, but there are so many questions I really want to know like what happened to his group. Why didn't he work behind the scenes ( if he was camera shy) discovering talent (because if I'm not mistaken didn't he discover Karyn White), writing and producing for other artist. He could have been like Leon Sylvers Mike Bivins , etc the ones in their groups that didn't sing lead that went on to be CEO's producers, etc. Also all the siblings including Michael and Janet played a instruments and wrote music. All them may have not played as many as Randy, Jermaine or Tito but they played.
