If Randy Meisner had taken the lead singer the Eagles would’ve had far more number 1singles , by far the best singer they ever had🥇
@ingfig14 жыл бұрын
.. a lot of people agree with you Richard that Randy should have had more time on lead vocals ... Frey and Henley rejected Bernie Leadon's bluegrass sound because it was too "country" and they wanted to go for more of a "rock" sound .... but then they used Glenn on lead vocals with his adopted and carefully crafted southern California drawl (not his original Detroit voice) which sounds more "country" than "rock" ... and Randy's voice could really rock those vocals .. that high perfect pitch voice could have taken on any rock song, like Ian Gillan of Deep Purple ...

@JAMES DURHAM U.E. Randy Meisner was always a bit shy ( by his own admission) but with Fry’s (RIP) and Henley’s over inflated egos he was made to keep on believing that! but after he left the Eagles he fronted a couple of bands also his solo career he overcome his shyness and shone. But the years of being in the Eagles on the road with all the hard hours touring, studio work etc ,the temptations that were readily available to them all , illnesses inevitable followed 🙁 and like many great stars took its toll on the body and mind of far too many great singers plus many great stars.( Sadly) Drink and drugs has a lot to answer for but unfortunately with out the temptations they couldn’t function or manage to cope with the hectic schedule laid down by many a money grabbing managers. (In my humble opinion)🇬🇧

@@richardtricker1428May I just come out and say this? I feel as if I'm going through a sort of grief process as I rediscover some of these great songs. I like everything he did, but it was apparent to me by the 1980 album that something was different, and mind you, I was about nine or ten and hadn't even heard "Take It to the Limit" yet! I know everyone makes his/her own choices, but I can't help believing there's a special place in Hell for the purveyors of the temptations you mentioned. And wasn't their manager once called Satan by one of the members? "... but he's our Satan ..." or something like that? Makes me want to cry and smash something in anger at the same time. And all the other things that happened to him later ... By the time you get to the duet with Juice Newton ("Heart of Gold"), it's still great but a shadow of this clear, beautiful voice. Not saying this in disrespect in the least. Only sorrow.

Patti Fearon Yes, I agree! An incredible guy all around! So talented and it makes me so mad that Glen and Henley treated him so poorly!
@karendoney91445 жыл бұрын
I agree that he was treated unfairly by Henley & Frey. Randy's been thru quite a few tough times post Eagles; and continues to have struggles. Don and Glenn, along with Don Felder rallied around Joe Walsh and pulled him back from the edge. I give them a great deal of credit for saving Joe Walsh; whom I love. I just wish they'd done the same for Randy; he had three kids. But they completely wiped Randy, one of the original 4 founding members, out of the band and out of their lives.

Frey and Henley were nothing but bullies. Somebody should have kicked their arrogant butts. Randy has a beautiful voice, they were afraid of what he could achieve. Take it to the limits was one example.

I would still jump at the chance to meet him! He totally amazes me! From everything I have read (and I devour info on him) he is the real deal. Haven't heard anybody saying anything but how special he was. Glenn Frey may have, since Randy punched him out!!
@ingfig14 жыл бұрын
@@kathijolley9092 .. but that punch was soooo well deserved and not a moment too soon .... it took a lot of provocation to get Randy to do that ... check out the 3.07 minute mark in this video - it happens fast so play it in slow mo - Frey throws a tantrum and double punches right near Randy's head while Randy’s performing - and Frey did that sort of thing frequently. When he called Randy a vulgar name is when Randy had had enough and I hear that they had to call in security to get Randy off Glenn .... play the video to the end to see a short interview with Randy ...kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3fan4mgYr-Ejc0

Listening to Randy's songs, they seem autobiographical. It seems that he never really found true love during those early years and from the stories I read not later either. Thats what happens to people who are too nice, they get taken advantage of. I pray that Randy finds peace in his life now and that his health improves because he looks so frail in some pictures. He's such a talent, a great bass player and lets face it, his amazing high tenor gives him the voice of an angel. I'm sending all good vibes out to Randy. I hope someone that knows him reads the hundreds of posts out here on youtube and tells him how much he is loved and admired by all his thousands of fans. We miss him since he retired, but we have an amazing body of work to listen to. ❤
