Yeah I'm from Chicago and watching football was boring for me and I didn't have any team that I liked and then Randy came to the seen! I wore his jersey at a game in Chicago lucky for me I had a bunch of family and friends with because Randy absolutely torched the bears that day and I had people throwing things at me and calling me all sorts of things! He made back up QBs look great and had a chance to play with TB12 late in his career and it was curtains for all kinds of records that year! Absolutely best wide receiver in my eyes idc what people think because if he had Tom Brady from the start 12 Ring's is what they would be at and records that we can't even imagine! But I'm just glad to have witnessed it and heartbroken he didn't get a Superbowl Ring because he deserved to! Thank you for the video!

I live in Huntington West Virginia got to watch all of Randy’s games in person at Marshall. You simply cannot overstate how good this guy is. What it’s like to see him in person. Jerry Rice was my favorite receiver of all time but imagine for a second if Randy moss in prime had Joe Montana, Steve young and Rich Gannon for his prime as opposed to 40-year-old Randall Cunningham, Dante Culpepper and Kerry Collins before finally getting to Tom Brady. He got to Brady at the end of his rope and broke the seasons touchdown record with 22.

Consider this: Rice caught balls from pretty much Montana and Steve Young only. Much of Rice's career he was on a team that had a strong running game, and through most of his career his team had other strong receiving threats. I would love to see what Moss' numbers would be if he were in that same position.

+cedricbeard Kinda laughable.... Here's his "only good post season" according to you: 1998: 10 Rec. 148 yards and 2 TDs Here are some of Moss's better Playoff stats: 1999: 14 Rec. 314 yards and 3 TDs 2000: 4 Rec. 139 yards and 2 TDs 2004: 7 Rec. 121 yards and 2 TDs In 2000 he had a 2 catch 121 yard 2 TD performance in the Divisional Round of the Playoffs. It's not his fault Daunte Culpepper was sacked 4 times in the Conference Championship game and threw 3 picks and was never able to throw an appropriate pass. What is he supposed to do, block, and throw too? In 2004 Randy Moss and a 9-8 Vikings Team went to Lambeau Field and Randy caught 4 Passes for 70 yards and 2 TD's and we walked out victors. In the Divisional Round, Culpepper again was sacked 3 times and threw 3 more INT's to secure a loss. Does Randy have to block and pass again here too? At his best, Randy was twice the receiver Jerry Rice was.

QB, but corner isn't far behind. For QB, you need a computer in your head to calculate everything with lightning speed, because you need to make just one small, simple mistake and your turn over the ball. Two, and you've lost your team the game. As a corner you don't have to make as many decisions to make and a lot of times you have help if you've messed up.The concentration level is up there though!

@bamjackson2530

I agree. I believe that cornerback and defensive linemen are the hardest positions. A defensive lineman is literally held almost "if not" every play. Cornerbacks have it bad. Really bad in this era. You have to react so fast to every route you cant bumb after 5 yards and pass INTERFERENCE is not called on the wide receiver as often as it should with all the push offs we clearly see and picks set. You have to get your head around at the right time. If you can cover a receiver one on one without no safety help and lock him down that's amazing. There are more great quarterbacks, linebackers, offensive linemen, defensive linemen, in the league than cornerbacks. In my humble opinion

People forget Moss was dominating the league with the Vikings under the old rules before 5 yard contact defensive holding penalty was implemented (to help Peyton Manning) as well as dominating under the new rules in his later years. Now with the "defenseless receiver" rules it's even more favorable to the WR. The way Moss dominated with Minnesota under the old rules shows his Strength in a way the new fans that never saw him in his prime don't usually comprehend.

@@SonSolo wasn't inforced. I've seen plenty of old games and footage. It's like telling someone who watched NBA in the 90s that "hand check was always illegal, nothing really changed". The style of play was drastically different. You NEVER saw Defense Holding called when Moss was with Minnesota. P.I. was inforced but not holding. If ball wasn't in air that was always let go. Everyone remembers the rule change (either in definition or serious change in enforcement) after Bilichek Patriots completely shut down Payton Manning in cold weather AFC championship. Back when Pats had guys like Ty Law. I remember when Panthers lost to Pats in the SuperBowl Steve Smith ahd a great game but said all Law did was "hold him and spit in his face". Defense Holding wasn't inforced til 1 or 2 seasons later. Moss Vikings years easily predate this and style of play on defense is DRASTICALLY different (much softer) in todays game to anyone paying attention. Then there are the other rule changes like Targeting and Defenseless Receiver which obviously came much later.
@SonSolo
@SonSolo 5 жыл бұрын
Thomas DeMay....I don't know about that bro. I know what you're saying, but my dad played high school ball when the rule truly didn't exist and he would always talk about how much easier receivers had it in the 80's and 90's. I remember the rule being enforced as a kid, maybe not to the extent it is now, but Moss and the 90's/ 2000's receivers weren't playing like they did in the 60's and 70's. You're talking like Moss played in that era and is not even close. He definitely had the luxury of the 5 yard rule, unlike the players in the 60 and 70's.

To me, Randy Moss was probably the most unstoppable wide receiver that played in the NFL. Defensive Backs played him close and he just use excellent footwork to get by them. They tried to get physical with him, and he just overpowered them. He was double teamed on the line of scrimmage and he still went around them and made the reception. He had great hands, and he was so explosive. He would leap over defenders to make incredible plays. He was so athletic, graceful and strong. Moss made it look so easy. No one figured out how to stop this guy, he was awesome.

Wabbazz rice got lucky. When rice was getting old teams would still sign him. When Randy was getting old teams where no longer keeping older players on their rosters. In moss' limited playing time with the 49ers he was very effective. He was just old so no team wants to have him as part of their core when they can train and develop a younger receiver.

@Wabbazz - I agree with you, especially how you worded it. Rice could have never possessed Moss' innate athleticism; hard work can only get you so far. But his incredible work ethic let Rice stay in the NFL a while longer, which gave him the numbers.
@xaviervega468
@xaviervega468 7 жыл бұрын
That's because Rice was still effective as an older player. Moss was washed up by age 33. Reason being he relied too much on his athletic ability and neglected the fundamental receiving skills. So when he no longer was he fastest guy on the field and no longer could out jump everyone on the field, he had nothing to fall back on. His route running was sub par, and he couldn't read a zone for shit. Simply put, Moss was the better athlete. Rice was the better FOOTBALL PLAYER, and that is why his career lasted so much longer.
