Randy Newman - one of the best songwriters/lyricists/storytellers/melodic structuralists/songcrafters of the 20th century. It seems somehow that he still hasn't received his full due from his contemporaries.

Randy is the master of the ambush - you’ll think he’s writing about someone else then he’ll pull your card. He will mention things that appear to be in passing but they’re unexpectedly deep and emotion-laden. Don’t know too many other songwriters who made their career on keeping people on their toes.

@nancyneukirch45244 жыл бұрын
what does Dixie Flyer mean? I am Danish...
@edwardcairejr.35994 жыл бұрын
Dixie refers to the southern US. The Dixie Flyer was a passenger train that ran from Illinois to Florida. I don't know why he chose that line, as the train didn't run from Los Angeles to New Orleans. I guess he thought it was a catchy name which also emphasized the fact that they were traveling from the West Coast to the Deep South.

So much easier to breeze through the millions of videos on KZbin, and click on one to add to a playlist, than it is to actually take the time to transfer from videotape to digital format, upload, and then spend how much extra time researching exact dates, lineups of musicians, etc., to share with those who might be interested in watching a clip, eh? Also quite easy to criticise what you, yourself, don't take the time to do [see the above]. Take your views elsewhere, if it bothers you so much.
