I think when he first came on the scene, Randy Travis single-handedly saved country music. The powers that be in Music City decided that they needed to appeal to more people so they were just about totally burying traditional country music and real country music fans were getting to the point where they were almost through with country music. THEN Randy Travis showed up and his voice was pure country and all of a sudden it was "in" to sing country music and sound like you were actually singing country music. Thank you, Mr. Travis. Those of us who genuinely love country music have you to thank for its survival. It's such a shame that his health is so poor now that he has had to step back from performing because we lost a great talent when he did so. I love Forever and Ever Amen but my favorite songs by Randy Travis are Diggin' Up Bones and It's Just a Matter of Time.

If it wasn't for Randy Travis, who knows what country music in the 90's would have sounded like. In the late 80's he really brought back the traditional sound that continued into the 90's which ended up as some of the best country music.

You are right about this being a wedding song. I’m 61 and have attended many weddings and every one of them had this song incorporated into that special day. I have been to metal heads wedding but this song pops up!!

I was sure if you knew this, Amen means it is finished. That's why you say it after a prayer. So he is pretty much saying I'll love you forever it is finished. The last word of the Bible is Amen for that very reason.
