Randy, you're old? Ha, ha, ha, I'm 81 and still at it. I know what you mean about memories. I was hunting antelope in eastern Montana this last season with a young friend (only 69) on a ranch where I have hunted many times. As we walked along, I kept pointing out places where different events had occurred on past hunts. Finally, I said, "I'm supposed to be hunting antelope, but I'm really hunting memories." It sounds like you're getting to the same place in your hunting career. Oh, yeah, I got a nice goat after a really fun mile and a half stalk and a 158-yard chip shot. I hope to bump into while hunting one of these days. My wife ran into you with your lamas and film crew up at Bridger Bowl a year or so back. She was with our horses. Anyway, keep at it, youngster, and all the best!

Had many positive interactions with the WY Game & Fish folks, both in the field and on the phone. I've also seen them take the appropriate action when some other "hunters" shot a couple bucks from a truck on the road, and leaning on a fence post next to the road.

Hello from north central Montana. I've been enjoying your videos for some time. This fall I harvested a 4x4 whitetail in my usual hunting area. Healthy buck with a swelled neck and rolling in fat. It tested positive for CWD in all three tests run by Montana FWP. In bringing this up with my compatriots, they all said they don't even have their deer tested. Personal choice, but as an ER nurse I took care of a gentleman that later passed away from Kreutzfeld-Jacob, the human form of CWD, and I or you do not want to go out that way. Hopefully it stays extremely rare. I don't want to open a can of worms. The end of your video just prompted me to share my recent experience.

Randy, I love that you’re using a .308 and not some fancy PRC cartridge. The ol’ reliables get the job done! Congrats on an awesome deer!
@joshkamp749917 сағат бұрын
308 was the "fancy new cartridge" in the 60s. Who cares what people choose to hunt with as long as they do so ethically.
@BDJans16 сағат бұрын
@ I don’t have a problem with the new cartridges coming out. But I shake my head at the ppl who buy a 7PRC, who don’t train to shoot long distances, who only shoot maybe one box of ammo per year just to zero the gun, and then expect to shoot a buck of a lifetime at 700yds.

I also have the Whitetail/Walleye bug over here in Eastern Montana. Grew up and lived in Ohio and WI for my first 40 years and the last 25 here in SE MT. So, I did fish a lot of walleye and Whitetail are my Kryptonite. They make me crazy, Lol. Every time I'm out hunting or fishing now I am enjoying the memories.

Was the issue the shot placement or bullet performance? Not being being a downer I understand it doesn't always go perfect. I shoot partitions but was wondering about the new whitetail ammo.

We had CWD detected in the northern tip of Idaho this past summer. New hunting regs as a result. The family and I took 3 whitetail this past season and all came back negative thankfully. I've heard that CWD originated in a Colorado laboratory. That's terrible if true.
@svenngunnarrustgard1228Күн бұрын
I bet it's true, same as those Canadian scientists that came out declaring they had a cure for cwd and poof their gone, never to be from again and whit the way things are going im pretty sure it's about food control, i know people who have sent in everything but the brain and its come back positive
@PonderosaOutdoors-20-gaugeКүн бұрын
Nice, quick little hunt and nice buck! I'm curious - what is the typical turnaround time for the CWD test results? Would a hunter typically receive the results before it's time to take the meat to the butcher (for those who do that)? Do they email you the results? Just curious how all of that works. Thanks!!

I have never seen somebody with so much luck on public land! Don't get me wrong I know you're talented, but as a person that has to rely on public land hunting in Montana, between access, pressure, and lack of animals, I seem to always go to the last day before getting a crack at one.

Randy, Curious as to why your shooting normal ammo with a suppressor? It takes away the entire reason to use a suppressor.
