You took me back 60 years with that plowing demonstration,,,,,,, Basically the same tractor with the same plow.....Never in the wears we had it did I ever stall it out..... it would bury itself first.......When plowing in 3rd gear when the rear wheels dropped in a cross furrow and you lifted the plow....it would pick the front end up about 3 feet and walk...... When that happened you fight the urge to stop use the brakes to complete the turn and wait for it settled down.....My Daddy was a sticker for plowing level, with little variation in passes......

Brings back memories - we used to farm with 3 WD-45's. Those birds look to be Sandhill Cranes.

Boy does that bring back memories growing up in Blackford County Indiana. My dad had WD's and WD-45's when i was growing up. Put a lot of hours on them. The last one had M&W pistons. One night I was pulling the disc. The exhaust would tune red from the exhaust heat, no muffler just a straight pipe. My ears were ringing when I finished. Back then hearing protection was not a thing.

I grew up with my father having a WD tricycle front. I miss that tractor. I learned sickle bar mowing, disking, and helping with grain drill, cultipacker trailer. I learned pulling stumps and metal tee posts with that tractor. I may have plowed once in a small area, but i missed the plowing being a bit too young. I enjoyed riding with my father when he plowed, disked and planted with the drill. Thank you for sharing and bringing back some fond memories.😊

My Dad, Grandpa, 4 uncles, several neighbors had either a WD or WD 45. My summer jobs were culivating with those two row front mounted culivators. I also plowed with the factory 2 & 3 14" plows. Discs etc. Thanks for letting us climb on for several rounds. I've seen that view many hours and days at a time. "I loved it". Your 45, performs and sounds perfect.😊

You did a good job rebuilding the old girl. I grew up with WD. D17 and 180 diesel. Allis always had strong reliable tractors. She will run forever with your good care.

Great action! Sounds good and strong under load😊 It's been fun following the transformation you've done to the old Allis!

Looks good! Us old guys would want you to lower the lead wing a little to get a smoother finish, but the harrow will take care of that anyway.

Looks like you have everything set up just about perfect. Now to work it enough to get those plows scouring clean and shining like a mirror!!!

Back when these tractors were new they sols front weights that stacked in front of the radiator and bolted to the side using longer bolts where the front steering gear fastened to the channel iron frame.

If the moldboards we’re scouring better the plowing job would have been more even. The furrow wall was cut very clean. Nice job of plowing.

I owned two WD 45s on propane. Best hay baling tractors made. They stayed hooked up to my 346 John Deere balers. That's all they did for years!

I always enjoyed listening to the WD45 when the tractor is pulling hard. You must be plowing in third gear with almost full throttle.

I sold my 3 bottom snap coupler plow a couple of years ago. Then this spring I got a plowing job (8 acres), so I had to use my John Deere 2 bottom pull plow. You have some nice sandy soil.

I am an avid wd45 an. Drove one many miles as a boy. It is the plowingest tractor for its size you will ever rawl on. It is also the roughest riding tractor I ever drove. No other 3 plow tractor at that time could stay with it, all things being equal. This tirade coming from an all Farmall family farm
@joegotz19718 ай бұрын
My grandfather had a WD-45. In the summers I plowed a lot of ground with that tractor. eventually I would plow my way through junior college, architecture school and 10 more years until my school loan was paid off. I finished my plowing years with an International 4166.

As a young guy i could power shift the thing into 4th plowing, it had a super kit in it, i wouldn't do it for long, my dad wondered why the furrows were 3 ft from were they should have been, its was pretty funny, he new!!

@Randys_Relics Жыл бұрын
These two sets came from the same tractor as the rims and tires. I've acquired quite a few lately, they have all came on tractors that I've bought.

I have spent quite a bit of time plowing with my WD and it does get quite front light when using the 3 bottom mounted plow. I used to have a slat wing but now have a plow like yours. Amazing how reliable the hydraulics were on these, never really had any problems with mine and this was one of the first variable volume pressure compensated type hydraulic systems used on tractors.
@Randys_Relics Жыл бұрын
@@jeffsnider3588 Yes, the hydraulics are impressive for Allis' first go at them! The lines are too, I'm sure the ones I replaced were 70 years old!

The only thing bad about that bus seat is the back is way too high for wanting to see behind you I had one on an H Farmall and I was always complaining because I couldn't see behind me and I always turn my tractor tires around so they were running backwards and they didn't wear off is bad going the other direction and if I wanted to plow or desk I still have plenty of traction and everybody laughed at me in the tractor club you can't pull anything with them tires the way you got them well I sure fooled
@Randys_Relics Жыл бұрын
I agree it's a tad bit too tall, I can see over it but I can't see downward behind it. I plan to trim it down about a foot and restitch the cover to match.
