You obviously can’t talk about the Rane Seventy mixer without noticing the many workflow elements that make it feel far closer to a Pioneer DJ DJM-S9 than a Rane Seventy Two. So on todays show i discuss the new mixer my thoughts about what Rane is doing and if I want one

Can you do a comparison of the Rane 70/72, S9, and Reloop Elite mixers? So many dj's decide between the 3 and have difficulty doing so. So a comparison vid would be sick.

Hi there Keo, NAMM 2020 happened no mixers stood out, maybe Rane 70? But as you’ve mentioned here is just an S9 with a Rane brand. Like you, I’m still waiting for a mixer that would interest djs like when the S9 came out. With my 2 turntable set up, do you have any suggestions for a mixer? I’m also open to high end mixers like Allen & Heath which has great audio and fx quality but I feel they lack the simplicity of a traditional mixing/scratching and a little bit of the grittiness of a traditional (non-superstar) dj. So do you think I should wait for upcoming mixers? Anyways, love your perspectives on your channel and keep doing interesting topics. Stay safe 😷💪

I have had my Rane 72 for a few months now and I'm still learning(confused)with a lot of its features. Plus for some reason the screen every now and then just completely freezes up so I am left with just using my laptop. Basically the screen idea is trash. Currently thinking about buying the Rane 70 just got to figure a way to do it with my wifey finding out...🤣🤣🤣

I'm really wanting a 3 channel mixer, so I can do accapellas and to have the ability to have 3 tables going. Can I use a CDJ connected usb to the laptop, then the rca's out to the Seventy Session, then use the Session knob as a fader? Also how would I use decks 1 & 2 on the Seventy and the CDJ as deck 3 in Serato?

I'm really keen to try the Seventy, I've had the S9 for a few years now and tried the 72 a few times but always felt like it was not user friendly at all o I think the Seventy is the user-friendly version :) I'm interested to know some stuff though... 1) Size - is the Seventy a 10" wide mixer or bigger? 2) Is there a way to assign FX to the sampler on the Seventy? 3) Is there a way on the Seventy to assign the tempo of one deck to the FX tempo of the 2nd deck? So u can use effects on a scratch sample which will react according to the temp of the beat your scratching over if that makes sense.... 4) Is there a way to disable the Instant Double buttons on the Seventy? Just worried about hitting them by mistake due to their positioning close tot the upfaders....I know they can be assigned to do enable/disable Sync or Silent Cue but still not ideal to hit those by mistake mid-routine... Some of those might be deal breakers for me....

I get what you are saying, I know how to do that in Traktor I don't think Serato has a internal BPM clock that is separate from your audio channels. I don't think that would be possible you would have to manually change the bpm of the file or something like that I'm gonna look into it and get back to you. You do have control over the doubles buttons you can assign it to do something else that i can confirm

Is the seventy somewhat superior even to the seventy-two with all the disappoitments you're mentioning... esp. the screen refresh scares me off, and I'd rather buy the seventy, now? Or is there any chance that got (or will get) fixed? regards

the Seventy Two had issues as it was released a bit to quick.Many of those issues have been fixed but even so its kind of overwhelming.The Seventy is way cheaper ,it has seperate loops which i like and a physical cross fader adjustment on the front.The Seventy is a stripped down Seventy rwo with some new features added that i really like.I will soon want a top notch mixer.I have a very nice Numark Scratch but its a back up not what i want in a main mixer though it is a lot of fun.

Rane70 looks nice - tons of upgrades over the S9. One thing for sure- the Rane70 sound card will be 100x better than the S9.

SATA SSD is so obsolete. Needs to be an NVME drive. But then you’d need a cpu to control it, more software, firmware etc., which means more points of failure.

i personally do not like where the cue mix and cue level knobs are for some body tricks. It actually keeps me from wanting this mixer. otherwise it looks nice. If i didnt get a 72 for a decent price id probably buy one of these. I really didnt like the S9 XFader.... so. I wonder what the new fader is like.

Rane 70 is just a very well upgrade Rane 62 with better pads and switches and better build quality than s9 but more user friendly than 72 .

Reloop Elite has a reasonable price. The seventy is still quite expensive for what it is. The s9 is also waaaaay to steep when it ocmes to price. I mean god damn the traktor kontrol z2 is 3 to 4 x cheaper bro.

I don't think Pioneer DJ is coming out with anything before NAMM. I have the S9, and like the idea of Rane 70. Never bought the 72. Depending on the review, I could buy the 70...

Most likely you will be able to midi map it rekordbox is usually good with that once it recognizes the soundcard

I've wated to upgrade from my 57 for so long, but the screen was throwing me off! the 70 is likely to get the trigger pulled. Wife is the hurdle now.

The wife is always the hurdle.. I told mine, "babe, I'll make it back in 5 gigs and not have to worry about my Serato box anymore + i can hopefully sell the ttm57sl" IT WORKED :)

I worded it poorly I didn't mean to imply 72 was being removed I meant it has improvements built off the same platform. I think I said in the video the 72 is still the flagship mixer for rane.

If it works for you that's perfect I think it's a awesome mixer but you cant deny the screen is low resolution by today's standards and slower than what is on your laptop and that is a huge turn off for me.

@@DJKeo I have no problem with the screen. I admit the effects took awhile to get use to that I didn't like coming from the 62 to the 72. After getting use to everything the 72 is more hands on. The fader is perfection

@@DJKeo i do turntablism and when using the screen on the mixer instead of the laptop i had no issues. i understand latency and refresh rates pretty well. I deal with it in multiple way everyday but i honeslty dont see it as a big issue.
