What are u talking about? Peshwas are Puneri Brahmins. We don't marry another when the first wife is alive, no exceptions. And Mastani wasn't even legally married to him as per marathi customs. It's obvious why they called her names, though the movie exaggerates a LOT. Mastani was treated with due respect as consort of a ruler. They just didn't like that Peshwa also insisted on giving her the legal rights (because they weren't married as per Brahmani customs).

There is no scriptural evidence to proove that mastani performed sati, she is muslim, she would'nt perform sati. Ratan Singh's first wife was mean to padmavati whereas kashi was kind to padmavati that's why we don't feel sorry for Ratan Singh's first wife. Padmavati was not stubborn to marry ratan singh unlike mastani. Actually Bajirao and Ratan singh are equally to be blamed. Polgmaly was common practice in hindu and islamic culture of that time.

when as a teenager I watched this movie I was in awe because of the love story, to me this was epic romance, but now as a grown up I realised cheating is not and will never be romantic. Yes CHEATING !!!! it is what we should call it. Unacceptable but still we see many movies glorifying it in the name of love. Imagine what would have been your reaction if the roles between Bajirao and Kashi bai would have been swapped, where kashi bai introduces her new husband , would you have accepted it??? Definitely no because since childhood we are conditioned by the society to normalise men cheating. I think its time to change it, it is unacceptable whether done by men or women.
