I think a paint brush would do a better job to be honest! Better for getting in those hard to reach place's! Thanks for the comment, its really appreciated 👍

There's a reason you can buy Landrover rear chassis repair sections. Because the front half doesn't rot due to oil leaks. The drawback, and fail with the oil wipe treatment is that Landorver oil leaks are a continuous process. If one were serious, about rustproofing with oil, it would have to be akin to a motorcycle splash-oiler, and only needed from the centre line back. Frankly, the box section chassis is a nonsense anyway, it should always have been C-Section - good enough for HGV trucks, good enough for Unimmogs etc - box section is just a rot trap. For a mere 1lb or 2 lb continuous psi, the axles could have been pressurised as well. By the time of Discos etc. and the split mild steel/ally bodies I honestly think someone actually said "Your brief today is find the best combination sacrificial anode, and build the body out of it" If the body lasts any more than 2 years - you're fired!" Which is why Discos all look immaculate on the outside, but the inner skins have rotted to cheese, and you have purchased a total wallet-emtpying lemon. The carcass should have been all aluminium, and the chassis should have had sacrificial anodes form a marine chandlers bolted to it at intervals. Fundamentally there is no difference in the UK between owning a trawler , or a car - both of them operate in identical environments, and the maintenence and material design philosophy should be identical - the only difference being weight consideration for vehicles (no inherent weight for vessels in water) Occasionally you may net a good haul of cod, herring, or langoustines which almost but not quite, pays for the continual upkeep of your trawler... your Landrover on the other hand, just rhymes with fish.

😄 I've owned a few landrovers over the years, all in various states of repair. They have there positives & negatives as all vehicles do. I personally enjoy the landrovers (of a certain age) quirks, and negatives as it gives me opportunities to learn & find new solutions. Fish or no fish Margot is the car that just keeps on giving 🤣🍋🐟

@@C4M4X4 Well, since you are experimenting with oil - you could do what I do, and fill the steering/track rods with oil before screwing on the last ball joint... Hey presto - no more seized ball joints when you need to adjust/replace - you can practically unscrew the balljoints by hand! And those rear wheel arches - the crap collectors (and even the front arches) FlashBand tape - Stick strips it round the arches (silver side out obviously!) and they are self cleaning (the mud drops off them) and hose clean on the few occasions you have to) with the added bonus of being bitumen..you can warm them to mould with a blowtorch, and they might, just might slow down the rot of the wheel arches* *It doesn't but you won't see the rot - and that's the main thing ,😂 Also flashband is a very good soundproofer in your doors. Not so much the floors, because at some point you will have to do a bit of welding, and good luck getting the fekn flashband off the floor! 😎🤘
