My wife brought the Evoque to my attention in 2018 and my first reaction on hearing her interest was scepticism as Land Rover's are more masculine than she would normally go for. On seeing it however I could see why it appealed to her. It's got an x-factor which no other suv has out there. The proportions are just sexy and I can see why it would turn a woman's head over any other suv out there including the more traditionally styled bigger brothers in the Land Rover lineup. We held off on getting one then and glad we did because the 2020 model has enough tweaks and refinements to make it even more classy and desirable. I've gone for a test drive in one and the 2L turbo still doesn't have enough oomph for my liking but riding shotgun sure. A visual stunner with a cabin that you'd be happy living in.

I must say. Your videos are edited very good. Very few KZbinrs have videos edited as well as yours. Plus the area your driving looks like a very fun drive. I love a twisty road. Just you and the vehicle in synchronicity. Range Rover always done a beautiful interior. It’s very drivers focused. I’m actually impressed with the that vehicle. I would buy one if I could afford it. I have one (2020 P250 SE) and I absolutely love it! It is a lady's car. Its a mini Velar and better in many ways. Little more room is always nice. Big improvement in the infotainment panels. This is my second Evoque. I had a 2016 which was real nice. 2 drawbacks for this one; the 2020 P250 SE burns way too much gas, and as for all RR's, it goes out of alignment way to easy. I use the auto terrain and eco mode mostly. This will change the comfort of the ride significantly. Hold on, its a rough ride. Comfort mode burns the most gas but has a smoother ride. There's much more to like. Too much to list here. Price is roughly 60K for the model I have.

There are indeed plenty of numb SUVs but this one is pretty cool. I've owned several Land Rovers over the years and loved them all even though they were not very reliable. As for "ladies' car - that's never stopped me buying a car if I like it e.g. Fiat X19. I haven't heard the phrase "driving like a nutter" for ages and it's great to hear you use it! Hi Anna, I do love your videos and it's very helpful. I'm currently debating between buying an Evoque or Velar. Having driven both cars, if you have to choose which one do you prefer?

Hi Kristyl, thank you so much :-) I love both cars equally and it really comes down to the size. If you are driving a car of a size roughly Evoque, then stepping to Velar wouldn't be too much of an adjustment. If you are currently driving a very small car, then you might want to test drive the Velar for a good couple of hours, just to see if you are comfortable with it, size-wise. Another aspect would be the parking that you use - how is the entry to the garage and the parking spot itself. Do you often park in small places? Then Velar, although, not the largest SUV out there, is of significant size. Happy to help further if you need me to! :-) Just want to say, whatever you chose, you are getting one of the greatest cars out there! :-)

4 cylinder petrol engine in such a heavy car equals bad economy. Pity it wasn't engineered for a 6. The future hybrid powertrains may be the answer. The Evoque is still the ultimate ladies motoring fashion accessory.

My wife is considering the Evoque as her next car and the size I must agree is the same as her existing SEAT Ateca , for more practical reasons she is also thinking about the Discovery Sport this is for the extra trunk space and some more cabin room, my question / concern, is there really much difference in the driving experience between the two size wise and in particular parking ? She isn’t a massively confident driver.

Hi Kevin, thank you for dropping by :-) The Discovery Sport is a little wider, longer and taller. On the paper, it doesn't appear to be too much of a difference yet the feeling in practice is a slightly different story. Evoque is just so much easier to manoeuvre and if your wife isn't a confident driver, I would strongly recommend the Evoque. Sometimes a few cm make a massive difference once you get pass certain dimensions. With the new generation of Evoque, the back space has improved significantly and so has overall space in the cabin. The boot space difference is about 160l, about 5.7 cubic feet as I sense you're America based. Evoque has a little bit more flair, especially the cabin. Evoque is easier to handle on curvier roads vs Discovery Sport. However, both are great cars to drive, comfortable and very premium. But for woman, as a woman, I definitely recommend the Evoque. Just give some thought of what is more important and of more frequency - carrying extra stuff vs daily ease of use. Good luck and please do let me know what you have decided! I take so much joy in helping people finding their dream car :-D

Hi Kevin, very happy to help. I think best if you could test drive both, and please do not be timid to ask the dealer to take the car home. Best if your wife drives the roads, the car parks, garages that she normally drives. It'll give her the most natural environment to actually feel the car. Exciting! Both cars are wonderful but Evoque is still my favourite, you simply can't go wrong with it! :-)

Hi Anna fantastically filmed. How tall are you? I currently drive an Audi Q3 but looking at the Range Rovers. I’m debating between the Velar, Discovery and Sport. My only concern is at 5ft would driving such cars be practical/doable? Thanks xx

Thank you so much Alice ❤️ I’m 5”7 so a little taller than you but you will be just fine with the Velar. I would say the Discovery and the Sport is getting a little too big. Velar is also much easier to maneuver around town and car parks. Yet still very very plush and comfortable.

Great review Anna. I do really like the looks of the Evoque but I do really like the old Evoque especially the 3 door model but I know it's not so practical as the 5 doors model. Do they do a 3 door for the new Evoque? I do like that they do the same style door hands that they have on the Velar but I really do like the Velar. All the best and stay safe out there. :-)

I like the design but... Evoque is rated as quite unreliable car, although slightly above average of LR as a brand, which is occupying bottom slots of reliability charts. So, it's ok to drive and enjoy Evoque for a few days - but I wouldn't risk buying it as my daily driver.
