@@ALL_4_WHEELS well like them both. The modern ones do have a bit more grunt, but, the holy grail is an original 2 dr in Bahama gold. Tried desperately to get my old man to change his rover v8 for one back in the day

Watching this video makes me miss my old Range Rover. I had a gold 1972 RR. I also had a 2017 RR on a lease too, obviously couldn't have driven that on lanes, was against the Terms of the lease. LMAO a Land Rover that was forbidden to go off road. The tracks in this video look great though with t he 4.2 V8.

Awesome cars. John's green Range Rover is the best one. Greenlaning is so damn cool. In South Africa it's ironically very hard to find places to drive off-road. The farms here don't have public access roads. There's no wilderness left unless it's in a national park or something and then they have roads and you get massive fines for going off them. The best is to go on a private farm that charges entry but then you have to book in advance.

What i will say is that Mercedes fits the G wagons with a 5 inch thick steel plate so there’s no damage to gearbox or the engine and drive shaft it’s why the car overall weight is 2.6 tons but they have a good amount of torque from the engines and a 100L fuel tank so they can drive 800 miles but that adds to weight of the car

The 5.0L Jaguar V8 engine used in the Range Rovers now sounds even better than the 4.2L V8 for a start the 5.0L V8 engine is not supercharged until two years ago and they had 520 bhp from the engine

Great Video mate Loved it just one thing mostly Land rover 90 could not follow my E reg Range Rover Classic They were always breaking Half shafts its always the Driver Never the Car .

Ye always the driver, i believe the land rover 90 is the best offroader in the world when driven correctly, cant beat an old landy, love the old rangys too but they bottom out and can be too heavy compared to a 90. Still theyre beauties tho

@@BobbyStar40 oh yes mine bottoms out all the time 8.75 inces at the diffs on 31 ince tyres that's why I lead everybody behind should be able to drive it wayne in the red 90 is on 35ince plus its 90 ince and mine is 100 ince I won't be changing it won't even put a snorkel on or a winch as these turn good drivers into overreaching themselves and the motor

Regarding the old Range Rover with the 3.9L V8 engine that’s a very good car especially with the automatic gearbox it was fitted into the Land Rover defender the 50th anniversary model and was the same with the first discovery again the 3.9L V8 engine and they were the 25th anniversary models which were built in very limited numbers and the same engine was in the Land Rover defender 110 until 2002 and it had quite a bit more power than the diesel engine Land Rover defender 110 which would you consider if you had the option to any of them to drive

The other car I did look at was the new ford ranger raptor which has the 3.0L petrol engine and 296 BHP and very good off road tyres but it costs 58 thousand pounds new so I would buy the diesel engine version instead and it’s the 4 cylinder diesel engine which is actually very good

There’s a few ex army Mercedes G300S for sale on and very low mileage some have only done 18 thousand miles from new

The 2015 model Range Rovers with the 4.4L diesel V8 is the same price as the older model but the newer one has 340 bhp from the engine and the 8 speed automatic gearbox but it’s a long car

I forgot to say that I have a two year old Mercedes Benz G350 with the 6 cylinder engine and 370 bhp and that is a good car but they cost 130 thousand pounds new but the engine is really very good and the G wagon has really very good ground clearance for driving off road and the led headlights so I would be interested to see which is better off road at some point and the Land Rover 110

I will try to my problem is that having moved to Spain permanently I have to get a Spanish driver’s licence to continue driving once you’re Spanish resident you can no longer drive with a uk drivers license but you can use a Spanish driver’s license anywhere in the uk and Europe

Once I have that sorted I will definitely make the trip to Wales to join you in one of your trips the question is which car to bring because both of the Mercedes G wagons are quite wide but not long and they have very good ground clearance even with the AMG G63 which is the most expensive model off that you can buy 180 thousand pounds and 585 BHP from the 4.0L V8 engine and twin exhausts on either side of the car

The shape of the black Range Rover looks good but I would buy one with the 4.2L V8 diesel engine much more torque and better driving off road and on road also a good long distance driving car

Just found a 2011 Range Rover with the 4.4L diesel V8 engine 74 thousand miles from new and 315BHB from the engine

There’s a few SUVs that will do luxury and off roading better than the Range Rover the alpina XB7 based on the BMW X7 the alpina redo the engine and the suspension so that sits a lot higher also the 4.4L V8 engine is given two turbos and then 620 bhp and the 8 speed automatic gearbox and the other is the Bentley bentayga again 4.0L V8 two turbos but 545 bhp and the same off road system as the discovery 5 but the Bentley has a lot more torque from the engine than any of the Range Rover’s especially the one with the diesel engine but the petrol engine sounds really very good and the other one is the Mercedes Benz G63 585 bhp again turbocharged very good off road and very good ground clearance even with 22 inch wheels with normal all weather tyres fitted to the car
