Great info Ben. Always wanted a Range Rover but i was frighted of by a friend of mine who breaks them for pocket money. I have an X5 and Jeep G-Cherokee and they all seem to suffer the same issues. Keep the videos coming. Kent (M0KWR)

Hi Ben, really good video which I read before changing my front wishbone on my 2010 L322. Just waiting for the new rear suspension arms to arrive as I've decided to change the lot whilst I was at it. I changed the Upper Ball Joint yesterday - now that it a horrendous job.. took me hours to get it out even with Heat, PlusGas Fluid and a large drift/Hammer. It was the original part so had done well at 9 years old. Cheers Gavin

Hello Ben. Our 2008 HSE has developed a slight knock in the front end and was confirmed to be the lower control arm. Doing a KZbin search for helpful videos, I wasn’t surprised to find this one at the top of suggested videos. I did watch others to see if they had anything to add and of course they didn’t. Not only that, none were as good or comprehensive as yours, and they were done by professional shops. Love your stuff. You have by far the very best L322 videos out there. I do have one question though. After completing your repair, did you need to get an alignment. I’m thinking any time you do suspension work, you should do it. What are your thoughts and how did that aspect turn out for you? Many, many thanks for all you do to help guys like me. I do hope you realize your impact.
@Bensgarage11 ай бұрын
I'm glad that my videos are of some use. Normally I would have the wheel alignment checked after doing suspension work, in this instance I didn't get it done, if I were to do the same job on my 2010 TDV8, then it would go in the have the alignment done. Reason I didn't do it, mainly a time issue. We needed to fix the car and get it re inspected, as we were using the car to tow the trailer as we were moving house. And to be fair, it drove in a straight line and no unusual tyre wear was apparent.

Thanks great how to do video I’ve got a L322 face lift when I come to a stop I get a groaning noise coming from the front when virtually at a stop any ideas 👍👍
@Bensgarage5 жыл бұрын
David Farrar first thing I’d check is brakes. Mine makes a creaking groaning noise when coming to a stop. Then I’d check wheel bearings as those are the only two components that rotate. And while your at it check all the lower arm bushes for excessive play.

great video ,, question when tackle this job as disconecting height sensor! is not need reprogram susoenssion with scanner tool or any computer !! cause Im afrsid of change it in my 05 l322 and deprogram height sensor!!
@Bensgarage5 жыл бұрын
gino leonne if you only disconnect the bolt and not the electrical connection then I can’t see a problem. I managed to knock a height sensor off while off roading, reconnected it and the car started working normally with no need for recalibration.

It would be great if you include the reasons for the repair. Was the arm ball joint worn out?

Diego Navarro yes the ball joint was worn excessively and thus failed it’s bi annual inspection.

Ben the workshop manual states its 165nm + 90 🤔
@Bensgarage4 жыл бұрын
I think I said 160nm plus 90deg, so not far off. I didn’t have the manual at the time and got the info off the ffrangerover forum
@giuistefanjr723 жыл бұрын
A bit of info ,why didn't you block the suspension so not going for that jacking up the hub to the hight you need. Simply press down the suspension button until it shows the lock.
@Bensgarage3 жыл бұрын
I jacked the hub up to simulate the normal ride height and then tightened the bolts on the arm to chassis. You could also replace the arm, leave the bolts loose and then set the car on its wheels and put it in normal ride height and then crawl under the car to tighten the bolts. You need to do that to avoid putting extra stress on the bushes in the arm.

Got to ask Ben I changed mine as same way you did now my steering wheel is off centre I only done the one side Did you have the same problem? Or know why this has happened to mine? I can only think new part is slightly different in size Thanks
@Bensgarage5 жыл бұрын
No luckily our steering wheel stayed straight after doing the job. However it is normally good practice to check your wheel alignment after having your suspension dismantled.

Hi Ben, wonder if you can help me with your Range Rover experience My L322 Vogue has had the lower part of the tailgate jam. Firstly the electronic switch failed so I continued using the plastic emergency switches either side of the lower tailgate. All was fine for a while but now they don’t work either so I can’t get the lower part down. I have checked the fuse which is fine so am a bit bambozzled. I did note the fuse rating in the handbook is 10 A and it has a 15A fitted. Was wondering if you’d ever experienced anything like this with your Rangies?
@Bensgarage4 жыл бұрын
Sorry never had this problem and to be honest I’ve never paid much attention to the tailgate as it’s always worked. Is there power at the switch? I’d check that first and maybe send some power down the wire on the switch to the latch.
@andybliss65384 жыл бұрын
Ben Elliott okay mate no worries. Am currently waiting on a Land Rover specialist to see if he can fit me in before new year as I need to load it up to move loads of stuff to a house in Ireland in January. These things always happen when you really don’t need them to!
