Have a 2008 4.4L V8 and have kept it since new, just passing 100,000 miles. It's been remarkably good so far. Had a couple of minor issues with the air suspension, and that's it. Moreover, we recently bought a piece of agricultural land on a steep slope and the RR Sport crawls all over it, hauling building materials to locations where big picks cannot manage.

This year we bought a 2006 RRS HSE with the bomb-proof 4.4 litre naturally-aspirated V8. We've named Basil. He runs like a top, sounds like a Jaguar (with that yummy AJ-V8) and handles like a dream. Before we bought him, our mechanic swapped out the air-suspension for springs, so he's got a sporty Euro-feel now with zero body-roll. A delightful daily-driver! As with any Rover, especially, I tell friends that if they want one they need to do their homework. Thank you for your comprehensive take on the Range Rover Sport-- and for letting potential buyers know what they're in for. A well-maintained, well-kept Rover with issues addressed will bring much joy! Basil has 193,000+ miles so far and is happily purring along.

NEVER use a LR franchised dealer to service your RRS. There are plenty of LR 4X4 specialists out there that will genuinely look after it properly. But some are still sharks. It doesn’t need a service each year, but it does need looking after. Much better value than a same aged Discovery. Though the suspension is harder on the 2010 and younger versions. Great vehicles and is the first ever truly Sport Utility Vehicle.

Oh and road tax is now £695. 😠 Had my 2011 5.0sc for a while now. 60k miles changed every fluid. Serviced it when required, not every year as don't do loads of miles. @@CarChatTV Firstly I gotta say I'm enjoying watching your content and I've just subscribed. Keep up the good work! I just really struggle with any JLR 4x4 product. They are just not fit for purpose and objectively lack the quality and reliability that is required for use outside of an urban area. I say this as a recovering Land Rover tragic who learned the hard way! Pick any Toyota wagon from the equivalent era and it will do what it says on the tin and do it reliably. I would also say it won't be quite as comfortable, or have quite the same on road manners but it will (almost always) get you there and more importantly back home again. I guess in summary I'd say if you can't afford to buy a any new RR, Defender or Discovery and flip it before the warranty ends you simply can't afford one. They are money pits and will just cause heartache. Looking forward to more of your content mate - just watched the GV80 review.
