The Benning Report's, Ron Andruss, has been following a class of Students as they give their all to make it thru one of the most challenging leadership courses in all the Military, Ranger School in a special Live Fire series. Ron has been tracking the students as they make their way through all 3 phases of the 9 week course.
In this segment Ron is up in the North Georgia Mountains where the students will face another 3 weeks of Ranger tasks and challenges. Ron.

I went through Ranger School in the Fall of '69. I actually enjoyed the Mountain Phase. Georgia is NOT always sunny and warm. It was freakin cold on top of those mountains in the wee hours of the morning. The lane graders (that's what RIs were called back then) were really good. I don't remember a bunch of BS, like we had in the Benning Phase. It was the best part of the best school I have ever attended, and the whole course has paid many dividends over my lifetime. If I weren't so old and ugly I'd do it again.

@13wraps i'm on felony probation but i received deffered ajudication probation,which means that as long as i dont violate and successfully complete probation the felony will not be on my record. If someone did a backgroubd check it would only show the record of arrest with a 'case dismissed' after completion of probation.

a strong swimmer acts as the scout swimmer, he goes across the hard way trailing a rope and secures the other side.

someone swims across with a safety line attached to themselves. It is actually training that 99.9% of the time will never be used in modern day combat. It is more of a confidence boost and just another thing to take up time and make you tired. Ranger school should do more of a urban phase type of training like SWAT uses.

@MAOfights Well thats according to them,also, obviously reading comphrehension is not one of your strong points nowhere did i say there wasn't a paper trail, nowhere did i say i was on probation for 7 yrs....i caught the case when i was 19 it took them a whole yr for the case to even go to court, i was actually almost 21 by the time they put me on paper so idk where you read that at....and furthermore where in my post did i say wasn't guilty or not culpable for what i did? I live in N GA so these guys train in my back yard basically.You can go into the mountains and walk the trails and find tons of discarded equipment.Most of it is a national park and fully access to the public.Only deep in the mountains is it closed off around the base. The trainees are flown in they have a airstrip because the only way in is a dirt road for about 30 miles.That doesn't seem far for most but in winding dirt roads of blue ridge mountains its VERY slow.Beautiful park tho

The mountaineering stuff -- climbing, rappelling and so forth -- was quite enjoyable. The mountainous patrolling terrain (coupled with sleep deprivation and reduced rations) absolutely sucked a mop. (11-74)

I would rank the mountain phase as the most professional of the phases in Ranger School. I had my hardest time in Florida, I got recycled there, but was able to move on to Desert phase and that was the phase were I passed my platoon sgt position Hooah

@13wraps Well,if you gonna start with excuses,you might as well don't even join the military.I had the same situation 1 year ago,even worst,I weighted 250 pounds with a GED diploma.Now I have 45 credits (still the army only approved me 20) and now I weight 175 pounds,And you know what?,nobody helped me at all,I did it by all by myself,its just a matter of self motivation.Now I'm proud of what I've done,nobody can take that away from me,20111025 Fort Benning 11B OSUT HOOA!

@CASEYELLOW007 Wrong. It show the arrest and deferred adjucation which the military considers a guilty verdict. No waivers for felonies.
@CASEYELLOW007
@CASEYELLOW007 12 жыл бұрын
@MAOfights my point was that i completed probation successfully(maybe you need to look up the definition of deferred ajudication, the army can say it's a conviction but i have NO felony on my record only the record of the arrest exist's, atleast from a civilian background check pov)the fact that i was even given da probation is because i don't have a record all i'm sayin is i dont have a conviction i ahve nt reoffended now or anytime i was on probation..so give me a chance.
@MAOfights
@MAOfights 12 жыл бұрын
@CASEYELLOW007 It's not up to me. You have to lay in the bed you made. I know the exact definition of deferred adjudication. I also know how the Army and other Government Agencies view them. The felony still remains on your record, just not one that is searchable my MOST civilian agencies. Some can see it, like those would license you to sell financial products. There is no such thing as truly having anything removed from your record. It's just a matter of WHO can view it.
