I’m ex 2RRF (1988 on) this is an amazing training that we should have done post basic, ensuring levelling up to the Battalion guys! Being green back then was very painful!

Ex TA Para late 80s. Great series. Still think Otterburn was my least fave exercise area

Its been a while for me, but aren't you supposed to conduct the 'work phase' (get all work like digging and track plan done) before starting admin? The only time I remember that being different was long digging phases like a defensive exercise, then 1 person cooked for the team.

Yeah you're right, before even that, you send out clearance patrol, one returns and guides them in and enter silently, section Commanders post out guards at the opexes on return they'll post their guys along their sector of the harbour and give them interlocking arcs of fire, then its stand too wait for half an hour ensuring no enemy had followed them. Then they start digging their shellscraps and put coms wire around the harbour to aid mobility during the night to get around the inside track. Inside the harbour they should be minimal sound and movement, only section Commanders should be the ones getting around the blokes and the Lcpls doing the administration for him.

What happened to ground models these days showing the contours and features, in my day we had ground in general and ground in detail, generally the objective. I've still got my model kit after 14 years.
