It should be interesting now to see if there is any improved performance within the team. Clement will likely now be told what Mr Stewart's strategy might be (assuming he has one, and isn't just picking up whatever was in place before). It is a little worrying that he has been involved in Man-U ... a club that has been performing quite the same way as we have (not giving managers time, sacking, replacing, poor football recruitment). Will the Man-U experience have made him realise that you need to have a firm club strategy for football in place, and a manager that fits that footballing 'style'? I hope so ...

It is quite common for teams to fail to score first half. I hear Hearts were unlucky against Celtic just to be 0-0 and the other week Dundee were level until 60 mins v Celtic also. Admittedly Rangers goal conceded on Saturday was shocking defending rather than great attacking play from Dundee Utd. The issue is quite simple the squad is not good enough, there is no better quality to bring on if players are having a poor game. Changing the manager won't solve this overnight. PC makes strange decisions and subs etc but sometimes they work. Not long ago everyone was saying Cerne was garbage ,now he is our best player. I'm afraid we have to hope for improvements in form of some players mid to front particularly and a couple of signings in January - but it remains to be seen given our £17m loss. We need to get real.

Saturday was my first game in a while due to family and work commitments and I only lasted till the 75th minute. Derek,who I have a lot of respect for keeps talking about systems.If you don't have the players with a hunger to play and ability the formation makes no difference. We have a poor squad and a very average manager who I have sympathy for but he has to go . Asking for a new manager to come in now and change things before the cup final and spurs game is going to help us in the short or long term But when the new manager comes in it won't be the system that makes or breaks him it will be the players willingness and ability to contribute. Aside from that recruitment has been appalling for years.Jefte who is widely lauded is an average defender and delivers less than Barasic did every area of the squad has downgraded .

Rangers are going season by season trying to keep fans happy, all this is expensive. While what they need to do is plan for 5-10 years time. I get it, I went every game during the 1990's it's tough going. BUT, with hindsight I can tell you, us fans don't have a clue . Fergus McCann wasn't liked, he penny pinched , brought in bad players / managers all about spending as little as possible. BUT he knew, "eventually" Celtic would be in a financial position to push on & not just challenge but set new standards . Going season by season was what gave you ( rangers) the advantage in the 1990's. NOW, it's reversed. Got to plan for 5-10 years, increase Ibrox, income etc.. if Celtic builds a hotel or expands parkhead it will be too late. Stop worrying about the short term.

In the current league structure with low prize money, finishing 2nd for say 10 years is not sustainable for rangers or celtic. Each club will be facing insolvency if they finish 2nd for that long of time in the spl. Its not like the bundisliga where bayern munich can go 10 in a row and all the other teams still do well, earn loads of money and still get champions league football etc. The spl is a baron wasteland financially. The only way to survive a 10 in a row would be to downsize to the point of a hibs, or an aberdeen. Which as weve seen doesnt bring any success, only stagnation. The 90s was different the scottish league was much stronger, and better off financially, players in england wanted to come up here rather than stay down there, thats gone now.
