There’s definitely something to be ashamed about. They weren’t a real playoff team. -37. 2-14 on the power play while giving up 2 short handed goals. 0/6 on the PP in one game they lost by a goal. Isles fan here. One of Mike Milbury's most stupid decisions as GM for the Islanders was firing a young Coach Lavi after just two seasons (that resulted in two playoff appearance) with the Islanders. Lavi now has a Cup win, and took two other teams to the Finals. Of coaches who have coached at least 500 NHL games, he ranks an impressive 14th all-time in winning percentage. I never thought i would say it, but i'm rooting for the Rangers to take out Carolina (on the assumption Isles can't win 3 straight games).

My family was asking why I was getting so hyped up and loud during the caps final regular season game, and it was because I knew making the playoffs as the last wildcard was their absolute ceiling. They really had no buisness even being in that position, but that made it really fun to watch. Lindgren was magic, Ovi was scoring, it was simply fun as a sports fan. Props to the Rangers for winning like I knew they would, it was a fun series nonetheless.

Well with DET it would have made for some more entertaining hockey. They are a young team with a lot of potential. Meanwhile WSH and PIT are absolutely going to need to do a retool if not a rebuild in the next couple years. PHI could have been an interesting series as well, though it could also have been a very boring series as well

They have tons of young pieces like McMichael, Lapierre, Protas, Fehevarhy, Sandin etc. Not to mention more top end prospects coming down the pipeline like Ryan Leonard and Andrew Cristall. The only core guys here from the 2018 run are Ovi, Oshie, Wilson and Carlson and Wilson isn't even that old. The Pens are screwed because they have nothing in terms of young talent so if they want to compete for a wild card spot next year they have to trade more draft assets or sign older players in free agency.

I have the Canes taking that series we in my bracket, but out of all the series that will happen in the playoffs, I think it’ll be the closest, and it was only by a very small margin that I took the Canes, who I think will beat the Cats for the ECF and lose to the Avs for the SCF. Shesterkin and Anderson will keep the games in this next series as low scoring as they can, and I expect it to be lower scoring, very close games: tallies of 2-1, 3-1, 3-2.
