There are some people who are disgruntled about this (and my other video) who should really calm down,. Take a step back and look at it for what this really is. I’m clearly NOT a Rangers or Celtic or Liverpool fan. This was an experiment to show that there’s nothing wrong with representing your team wherever you go. This doesn’t just apply to me, but to everyone. The staff at those clubs didn’t mind at all, so why should anyone else care? And it’s typical almost everywhere else. It’s common for American sports to wear the jersey of the opposing team. Nobody cares. In Rugby, you can wear a different coloured shirt and watch your team. Nobody cares. I could even walk around West Bromwich in a Wolverhampton shirt and guess what? Nobody cares. Is it a crime in Glasgow, I’m not so sure anymore? If after reading the above statement you’re still ‘offended’ by this, and think that it’s ‘disrespectful’ - you’re fully entitled to your opinion, of course. But explain to it me. Tell me why?

David Watt it really wouldn’t have mattered wether it was known beforehand or not, the fact he had a camera with him and an English accent is enough reason for them to suss him out. It wasn’t only the staff who warmly welcomed him, it was also the Celtic fans who were doing the tour. Willing to get a laugh and a joke, letting him walk down the tunnel first and even applauding him. All of this would have went on wether or not they knew he was coming. Rangers fans wouldn’t even sit next to him and had horns beeping at him in the streets giving him the fingers etc. No joking or humour from the rangers fans that were there. They wouldn’t even stand next to the guy, like he said it was as if he had a bad smell. Giving him death stares and generally making it an uncomfortable experience. Total contrast to the celtic fans. Also this is all with him blatantly recording the events, they fans can’t even put on enough decency to be civil to him in front of a camera. They knew just as much as Celtic that this wasn’t normal and no doubt sussed it out too, but they still allowed the hatred for Celtic and Celtic fans to shine through which comes across so obviously in the video. Please stop fooling yourself believing Celtic were only more welcoming as they ‘knew he was coming’ .. it’s quite embarrassing. Rangers fans at the tour were unhappy he was there, Celtic fans enjoyed it and had a laugh. The evidence is in the video, don’t know why it’s so hard for you to believe.

Whether we like it or not, both clubs are symbolic of either sides of the religious devide. It’s unfortunate that it is more than a football rivalry, but the size of support of the two clubs and the fact they both have traditionally competed with each other have a huge part to play in the context of the rivalry

One of Scotland's leading sports journalists , Graham Speirs , who grew up a Rangers fan , and who has attended many matches at Ibrox , both as a fan and journalist , wrote an article about the inherent bigotry and sectarianism that exits within the Rangers support . Rangers FC were so incensed that they banned him from attending their home matches . Says it all . Celtic FC is open to all .

Wow ! Bully for them . Amidst destroyed season books and vitriolic abuse , he signed only after Sounesss had threatened to quit otherwise . But in actual fact , Johnston was not the first Catholic to sign for Rangers , as many of the club's historians will testify . Johnston was their first " official " Catholic signing . The previous few signings were ordered to remain silent .

I agree 100% There is a difference between an intense rivalry and hatred/hooliganism An intense rivalry is about an electric atmosphere, the crazy desire to be better than the other team, and also the history of the rivalry Hatred/hooliganism is just being absolutely stupid and taking things too far It's alright to dislike a team but you should be able to welcome them as well As a man city fan, I think to myself, "who the hell would want to be a man united fan" but I would never want to stab a man united fan. Football isn't about race, religion, gender or anything else. Its football and nothing else, we should be able to enjoy the beautiful game!! And as always great video!

Celtic is a Scottish professional football club based in Glasgow, which plays in the Scottish Premiership. The club was founded in 1887[nb 1] with the purpose of alleviating poverty in the immigrant Irish population in the East End of Glasgow. They played their first match in May 1888, a friendly match against Rangers which Celtic won 5-2. Celtic established themselves within Scottish football, winning six successive league titles during the first decade of the 20th century. The club enjoyed their greatest successes during the 1960s and 70s under Jock Stein when they won nine consecutive league titles and the 1967 European Cup. Celtic have played in green and white for the entirety of its history, adopting hoops in 1903, those being used ever since.[2] Celtic are one of the most successful football clubs in the world and are one of only five clubs to have won over 100 trophies in their history.[3] The club has won the Scottish league championship 50 times, most recently in 2018-19, the Scottish Cup 39 times and the Scottish League Cup 19 times. The club's greatest season was 1966-67, when Celtic became the first British team to win the European Cup, also winning the Scottish league championship, the Scottish Cup, the League Cup and the Glasgow Cup. Celtic also reached the 1970 European Cup Final and the 2003 UEFA Cup Final, losing in both. Celtic have a long-standing fierce rivalry with Rangers, and the clubs are known as the Old Firm, seen by some as the world's biggest football derby.[4][5] The club's fanbase was estimated in 2003 as being around nine million worldwide, and there are more than 160 Celtic supporters clubs in over 20 countries.[6] An estimated 80,000 fans travelled to Seville for the 2003 UEFA Cup Final,[7] and their "extraordinarily loyal and sporting behaviour" in spite of defeat earned the club Fair Play awards from both UEFA and FIFA. FIFA president Sepp Blatter described Celtic fans as being "the greatest in the world".[8]

nice one mate. I'm an Asian guy myself, spent 2.5 yrs in Glasgow. In my first month there I soon found out what you find in this video: there's delicate difference between these two clubs, in terms of how to treat minorities etc. Not saying all rangers fans are racist of course, but a lot of them are really not nice to rival fans and nimorities living in Glasgow.
@UltimateBucketList5 жыл бұрын
Yes, I found that out the hard way and I think you're right. Thanks for the comment.

It wasn't Rangers fans who indulged in the worst racist abuse of a footballer ever seen on a British football pitch: Mark Walters at Celtic Park, 2nd January 1988.
@ayrshireman13145 жыл бұрын
No, you'd be wrong. Rangers had a black player first in the 1930s (Mohamed Latif), and as you can see by my reply to my Scots-Asian friend above, it was Celtic fans, an entire stadium of them btw, whose racist abuse to Rangers winger and then new signing Mark Walters, is still the most vile racism ever seen in UK football. Even ex-Celtic players have admiited they were ashamed by the 'tic' fans abuse that day. In general terms, no, the Bhoys aren't any better than the Gers in how their fans treat ethnic players or fans. Both clubs fans are in the vast main, not remotely racist, both have their idiots. Both have had to ban a tiny handful of racist fans over the years. Note I said tiny minority: single figures in 30 yrs. And I see ethnic Rangers fans as well as ethnic Celtic fans. Both clubs have also had successful campaigns to root out racist/extreme fans. Going back to the 90s. Rangers have just launched another one this season, aimed at all 'minority' fans be they black, Asian, gay.

@@ayrshireman1314 hi mate, just honestly state what was my personal experience, I'm not Scottish football history expert or anything, and not interested in claiming any moral high grounds. while in Glasgow I personally got racial abuses by ppl wearing rangers colours, multiple times, at city centre, not on match days, and I'm not wearing any football colors at the time. never had any trouble with anyone with Celtic colors. of course I believe the "bad apples" were just small sections of rangers support, and both sides have their fair shares of wrong deeds.
