This subject came up recently from another forum. I interact with a variety of Swahili speakers: Kenyan, Congolese, Rwandan. It's noticeable to me the most when I speak with Rwandans. Now that I am also learning Kinyarwanda, it gives insight into the fact that their alphabet does not use "L". They use the "R" sound for it in words. Versus my Kenyan friends that roll their "R's" and use it distinctly from "L's". Just thought I'd share that it may be a legit reason behind it!

Tammy Eddy that is very very interesting. I haven’t looked at it that way. But it makes complete sense what you are saying. An excellent piece of detail there. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. How’s Kinyarwanda learning going for you? I would like to hear more of your experiences.

@@swahiliadventureracademy4309 my kinyarwanda learning is slow! Let's just say that I am glad that I learned Swahili first. It introduced me to Bantu grammar structure which was a brand new concept to me. Swahili has more learning resources available. Much easier pronunciation too. It gave me the confidence to attempt Kinyarwanda! The pronunciation is much much harder. I don't think it would be possible without a native speaker to practice with. We have a refugee population in my city that allows this and also gives incentive to keep trying.

Tammy Eddy thank you for sharing your experience. I’m looking forward to learning another African language. I have not decided which one yet. I’m glad that learning Swahili has made learning Kinyarwanda easier for you. I do agree with you about the pronunciation thing. Please let’s keep in touch. It is very interesting to hear from you. My contacts are in the description. Talk to you soon. Happy learning.
