I'm amazed why educated individuals like you cannot see the real picture here when you have thousands of real examples, especially regarding the childish opposition leader, or Namal baby’s habitual tendencies. They will all be in the same boat by the 21st of September. And the question you face: "Am I with the swindlers or the geniuses?" Open up and look at it with a fresh view, and I know you can do it. Maybe you and your closest family members have had some perks in the past (apologies if that is not the case), but even if it is, you don't have to be a slave for generations, as it has been the case for decades in Sri Lanka. It is quite astounding the level of detail Ranil gets into. I cannot imagine what Sri Lanka would be like if this man is given just one five year term. This is in short the Lee Kuan Yew of Sri Lanka. Unfortunately some Sri Lankans have such a giant chip on their shoulders, others bear unfair grudges, yet others see short comings which are blown way out of proportion. Thru these nasty traits they repeatedly chose the wrong leader and messed up the entire country. I hope this will be a different election where finally at least a majority manage to see thru the fog of misinformation and nasty propaganda and elect Ranil.

If strengthening the Dollar with the sluggish global economy, understand the exporters’ concern ( definitely for apparel) and even for other products which will suffer in competing in the international markets !! It is better to have the dollars flowing in to the country rather than strengthening to prevent the in- flow in these times ! Also, tourism, as there are other travel destinations which the visitors would opt!! Ex : Costa Rica, Madagascar Definitely a wide array of products could be spotted for export when visiting groceries and the other stores !!All quality biscuits, Ritzbury chocolates ( sadly Kandos quality had dropped a bit) all organic beauty products and there is so much demand for products like coconut powder etc All detergents ( as had got expensive in the US) to name a few of the products for export and I am sure some do!! Sri Lankans are smart and hard working. and so deserving good governance. Then only the country will thrive more as a nation! Hope the government is focussed on putting CEB in order with lower tariffs. Ranil; even the Colombo folks are finding it hard as not sure CEB realizes they sped 1/2 million to millions on electricity for an year ! Outrageous!! More than even the US!! Also, they should be prevented from inflated estimates on bills ! Feel sorry for the consumers. ! Price Gouging should be monitored & controlled.. Sir! pls! It should apply to home rentals and hope will not tax on top which is supposed to be implemented!! I was never a UNP supporter, but Ranil is streets ahead of the other jokers. The country would have been in dire straits without his experience, his negotiating skills, his contacts and his vision. International investors are getting nervous. We need to think who is best to take the country out of the economic mess. Leaders during crisis times are different to leaders during good times. Winston Churchill was one. He was a great wartime leader but not a good peacetime leader. Arjuna Ranatunga was another person like that when we were in strife, he was the right man. When we come out of the economic mess it will be time for Ranil to go. A country cannot have growth with such high debt levels if anybody is telling you these lies.

I was waiting for a few hard questions that needed to be asked but didn't happen. There is a significant percentage of the population living below the poverty line, mothers who cannot afford to provide milk for their children, never mind the adults, the malnourishment among children?. How do you think you could address this in the short term at least? I have no issue with his economic and reform agenda, but does he hear the poor folks woes? I fear in a Ranil presidency the rich will get richer and the poor will be left behind.
