@Akash Akks he knows the meaning. But somehow he misheard the words and therefore thought that it is a word he don't know. The bottom line is, from his perspective, he heard a new word which he didn't understand. In this premise, he decided to clarify the meaning openly admitting that he didn't understand a word which the other person has casually used. Most people would pretend to understand everything and guess the meaning from the rest of the sentence, then say a response without touching the context of that word. All this , out of fear that "others will know my ignorance". He didn't care so much.

Ram is well aware about english language... but the interviewer's pronunciation of that word is not understandable that's why he asked what it is? If ram doesn't have that kind of question ,then I too will get confused about what was that. Bcoz most of us trying with butler english.

Wow.. Ram is not just a brilliant writer/director he is a very sincere human, kind of giving a lesson on humanity to the interviewer. Mr.Rangan always seems to review Tamil movies from the eyes of an Urban Upple class Indian, and many times unjustifiably even critiques Tamil movie simply because it shows the Tamil rich guy as a villain against the poor Tamil Hero (for eg read his review for Vazhakku enn 18/9, Angaditheru etc). Here Ram is giving him a proper lecture on why it is not the problem of the movie, but of the viewer. I still thank Mr. Rangan for this interview and allowing Ram to talk.

I liked this interview. This had glimpses of a master class session , especially the approach towards writing. The stance that the author takes and how one tries to overcome hypocrisy. Pariyerum perumal can become a documentary itself with life in it... It addressed caste discrimination, language barrier, gender discrimination, atlast how to handle them was also picturized... It was so heavy that I started looking for these issues in our TN... There r some documentaries regarding caste discrimination in KZbin and pariyerum perumal had the glances of those all documentation in the song NAAN YAAR... Sairat was little weak comparing to pariyerum perumal i mean the approach...

I believe Pariyerum Perumal was one of the classic movies in recent years. I beleive that the film itself was discriminated from film awards, and it didn't get the deserving recognition. For me eventhough Asuran and PP both deal with caste issues, I thought PP to be more realistic. The dialogues were like a slap to the face. Powerful performance and powerful movie.
