This is amazing! Thank you for sharing this. I am so sick and tired of the gurus telling us to “chase trends” and “sell this or that” when it doesn’t fit in our shops. I can’t imagine selling coffee cups in my shop. I’m not a cheap discount box store.
@EtsyMentor4 ай бұрын
I completely agree! Chasing trends is the worst strategy because they change every year. You'll always be running after money instead of making the money come to you!

Majority of "YT Gurus" are full of BS just trying to monetize with views and sell their bogus courses. Thanks for keeping it real George! Keep rattling them cages and get under the gurus skin.
@EtsyMentor4 ай бұрын
They’re changing strategies to incorporate what I say which contradicts everything they've preached in the past. The timing is very interesting. Before, they would repeat the same things, much of which dates back to 2020 and isn't even relevant anymore. So, I'm giving them a warning-they don't want to test me 😂

Don't forget the money they gain from affiliate links that they push - Printify, Everbee etc

Hahaha amazing stuff, George calls out all the Etsy guru's who just push their affiliate links and courses but give no real info in their videos I love it! Again great quality information you gave us George it helps us think outside of the box!

Great video again with helpful tips! I wondered how some designs could be on the first page although they were not beautiful. Now I see that they get lots of sales because of their low price and high discounts. Do you think it is a good strategy in the beginning?
@EtsyMentor4 ай бұрын
You can definitely start with a lower price point, but don't make it a long-term strategy. Use this approach only at the beginning. In the long run, it will hurt your business due to low margins.

The thing with the first page is that its the first page. Limited space with high competition and constantly changing. It can be gotten to, though. Sales volume definitely seems a way to get noticed by ETSY. It goes against your high profit margin thoughts but I can imagine there are ways to have both.
@EtsyMentor4 ай бұрын
It really depends on what you sell. You don't need to have super low prices to get recognized or pushed to the front page. If you decide to cut your margins, please don't do it long term. This is how businesses end up going under. If you run a sale (that cuts margins), keep it limited so you don't fall into that trap.

Thank you for your videos. I find it hard to trust the high achievers on YT. They surely don't want us to know their secrets because that could potentially impede on their sales? I know if I cracked the code and things started taking off, I wouldn't tell a soul and would keep doing it lol. I have found things quite confusing, one person says don't list more than one listing per day and others say the more the better. I have been slogging away at the computer nearly every minute when I'm not at my job (that I hate and want to replace doing POD full time) and things are going pretty slowly. I'm just hoping one day the tide will turn and things will pick up.
@EtsyMentor4 ай бұрын
That's exactly why I started a KZbin channel. There's so much misinformation out there that it's confusing people, pushing them in all different directions. I make amazing money on Etsy and outside of Etsy, so I don't mind sharing the secrets no one else wants to discuss. I gain more satisfaction from helping someone and seeing their happiness, rather than from selling an item, as corny as that may sound.

Yes and there’s one who is actually drumming up business for “believers” to pay him to review their businesses, which I feel has to be more for his benefit than us slogging away trying to “make it big”. I really appreciate how you have never asked for a cent, you just give the information, that says a lot. I always think of questions when I’m nowhere near YT so I will have to write them down for when you put a video out that’s relevant to my question.
@EtsyMentor4 ай бұрын
Yes, please write them down. I love questions because I can make sure you get the right answer without the back-and-forth contradictions from others.

And how do you do this exactly when Etsy suspends your account for zero reason and ruins your business ????? What company just does this AND gives zero explanation in doing so when you have done nothing ever wrong ? Etsy is the most unprofessional company I’ve personally ever dealt with . Zero accountability for such life altering outcomes .
