Fun fact: T.A.D.P.O.L.E was an attempt by the TCG team to copy its Japanese naming convention. While its Japanese name is otamajakushi which means Tadpole in Japanese, the OCG separated them as "o/tama/ja/ku/shi" which respectively means "evil/soul/vice/pain/stop". It's a very hard pun to bring over to the States but the closest being Rata's gag about it. Hell, all the Frog names in the OCG are Japanese puns.

It doesn't matter because fans will consider anything an archetype as long as it keeps a consistent theme. One piece of crossover support does not make the Armed Dragon cards suddenly Ojamas, but they do work together in a fun quirky way.

Silverrokket allows you to choose a monster in your opponent's ED and banish it when targeted by a Link's effect. Rokkets are all about targeting their own monsters with Links to pop themselves, use an effect, and bring out another Rokket. Rokket player goes first -> Bring out any Link that targets (Striker and Booster Dragons are easy archetypal choices) -> Target Silver -> Look at your opponents entire ED and banish Toad back to the infernal pit it crawled out of -> put a new Rokket on the field. If your opponent only runs 1 of their key cards in ED, it's done for. TCG this isn't as big a deal if your opponent runs multiples but the lower ED size in Duel Links keeps Silver at limit 3 (meaning it shares a 3 card limit with other limit 3 cards e.g. you cannot run 3 Silver + any number of Levianeer but you can run 2 Silver and 1 Levianeer). Not meta, but definitely strong against decks that rely on specific combos or end states.

"kaeru" is Japanese for "frog", although in compound words its pronunciation often changes to "gaeru". Most Frog and Toad cards have Japanese names that are puns on words pronounced "kaeru" or "gaeru". Card names are important when interpreting card effects in Yu-Gi-Oh, so an effect that words on a "kaeru" monster won't work on a "gaeru" monster. To keep effects consistent between the OCG and TCG, the decision was made to call "gaeru" monsters "frog" and the "kaeru" monsters "toad". Examples include: * Yomigaeru ("to be resurrected" or "afterlife frog") -> Treeborn Frog * Negaeru ("to betray" or "sleep frog") -> Centerfrog * Machigaeru ("to make a mistake" or "magic knowledge frog") -> Dupe Frog * Ikikaeru ("to live again" or "chic frog") -> Ronintoadin * Mochikaeru ("to bring home" or "mochi frog") -> Toadally Awesome However, "Frog the Jam" is called Kaerusuraimu ("frog slime") with a K. More recently, Frog the Jam has received an errata, renaming it "Slime Toad". This means that it is now technically a Toad card, just like all of the other "kaeru" monsters. I don't believe there are any card effects specifically mentioning Toad/kaeru monsters (because if there were, cards like Toad Master would also need to be erratad), but if there are, they will treat Slime Toad equally int he OCG and TCG.

One of my absolute favorite decks Ive ever made was basically "water fun stuff". Frog engine, paleozoics, graydles, various ice barrier and white aura synchros, later on some marincess and other water spam cards. Deck was a blast and scared me how adaptive it was for a long time. Doesnt really do much against the metas these days, but still fun and can at least pull a few wins here and there.

well ronintoadin was the real problem. but now frogs just make for a good exodia turbo deck as long as you can protect substitoad from negation. and even if you cant, swap frog and tradetoad give you recursion. imo its an exodia engine if ever i saw one.

Frog the Jam does serve the purpose of being the singular Normal Monster in your Frog Deck. This allows it to bypass any Effect Monster counters or helping against Exodia decks that use Afterlife Emissary. It also serves as a handy Toadly Awesome Discard.
