Ranking 7 Side Quests on Enjoyment | The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

In today's video, we're going to rank 7 side quests in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. We're ranking them from least fun to most fun. This is an opinionated list, and I'd love to hear your lists down below. The quests include: Imperial Corruption, which involves taking down a corrupt guard in The Imperial City. Then, we have The siren's Deception. This quest involves taking down an all female gang in the city of Anvil. The next quest is The Killing Fields, which involves us helping a farmer's sons to clear their property of garden. The next quest is Tears of the Savior, which involves us collecting crystals in a hidden valley. The next quest is When the Vow Breaks, which involves us retrieving an enchanted weapon from a gang of Marauders. The next quest is Goblin Trouble, which sees us putting an end to a goblin war. Finally, the last quest is The Gravefinders Repose which sees us carrying out a bounty on a necromancer for an irritated publican. Don't forget to like, comment and subscribe!

Fun fact about the sirens deception quest. If you’re playing as a female character they try to recruit you into their little gang. Tell you to come to their hide out where they explain how it works. the quest plays out the same.

I'm really glad you covered the Cropsford quest. That was one of the very last quests I found on my first playthrough so many years ago and it absolutely blew my mind to see that it could actually result in a whole village being built up from the ground. It wasn't until years later I found out that it goes even deeper and there was a genuine goblin war system. This video reminded me of why I love Oblivion's quests so much and something I feel some modern games miss out at times. A lot of these quests aren't about rewards, but the little stories that flesh out the world that make you feel like you are in a living world and having an impact on it. From stopping a corrupt imperial watch and seeing him dragged to prison, to helping and saving two brothers defending their home, all the way to seeing an actual village built up from the ground up due to your actions. These are the things that made me feel like I was in a real living world and fully immersed me in. On a side note, the Roxy Inn was actually one of my favorite chill spots. For some reason, I always found it cozy and at the time seeing all the NPCs come and interact with each other made me feel like I was in a tavern at the end of a long day of questing. I was going to make my own rankings but honestly I pretty much agree with your rankings. Tears 100% deserve the number one spot, it might be a fetch quest but it's brilliant at masking that and has a very interesting story and it's one of those quests where the quest itself is the reward. For most of it I expected the reveal to be that it was a false story, so to actually find the grotto and the frozen knight was quite rewarding. Excellent video overall, keep up the amazing work!

You don't have to be in the Imperial City Audens Avidius will find you anywhere! He won't attack you if you are under lvl 5. One time he didn't show up, I thought it odd but didn't think much of it. Later I found his dead body outside a closed Oblivion Gate. If you try to talk him about corruption he will get upset "You must be stupid to accuse me of corruption to my face. In fact, I'm pretty sure you just attacked me. I think I need to arrest you for assaulting a member of the Imperial Watch." he will then put a bounty of 1000 gold on your head, exit the conversation and arrest you!

The only problem with the frostfire glade quest is that if you happen to use any AOE magic, you could accidently send one or multiple of garridan's tears flying in some unknown direction, never to be found again.

I think the point of the sirens quest was the guards would have you robbed, then show up after to do the arrests. After all, you’re just a single person so you wouldn’t be as embarrassed as the married guys. The guards wouldn’t necessarily recognize your willingness to kill either

One time after I finished Imperial Corruption, Avidius spawned in Veyond Cave while I was waiting, he later drowned chasing me without regard for his own life

Had him spawn in the gardens of Mancar Cameron, in his realm that I needed to complete several quests in order to be able to open a portal to. access. This guy, broke into an impenetrable blades fort in true mountains on the Skyrim borders, made it past all the blades stationed there, into the main hall & into the portal, in front of Jauffre & Martin Dudes a terminator. Watched him get torn a new reality. by a big blue, tattooed daedric bad ass who carried a massive ebony battle axe. Was hilarious.

A fun fact about the Siren's Deception quest: originally, there was supposed to be an option to capture Faustina and place her under arrest. If I remember correctly, she was supposed to originally run straight to the basement and let her friends kill you, and if you went after her you could either kill her or arrest her. There are no English voice lines available (to my knowledge), but if you have the German version of the game installed, there are some left over voice lines in Faustina's dialogue folder that indicate this possibility. Whatever the reason this alternative way to handle the quest was removed is probably anyone's guess.

Ahh, good old Audens.. turn him in and he'll track you down no matter where you go. Charm him and break his aggression and he'll live anywhere, even in the sewers with a note about vengeance, a loaf of bread, and a dagger lol. I honestly lioed all of these quests, Neat video man!

My first time playing, naturally I had no idea Audens would escape in 10 in game days. When Audens came after me, I was trying to do the mages guild questline, waiting around for the light to shine on a necromancer's altar. For some reason, it wasn't letting me wait for longer than an hour, yet it didn't say an enemy was nearby either. After waiting about 4 times, all of them being interrupted and cut short, Audens popped up over the hillside and just started attacking. By that point, I had 100% forgotten who he was, so I was very confused until I got the quest notif when he died.

I have literally just realized that Maelona and Gogan are literally completely different NPCs when they appear in the cabin in Anvil watch uniforms. How did I never notice that before? I remember that with my first character I missed the basement in the cabin with all those 'unique' stolen items that sirens stole from those men. I also remember failing to save the brother in the quest The Killing Fields with my first character, thinking that one brother will always have to die no matter what and can never be saved. I also couldn't find last of Garrison's tears also with my first character for like 20 minutes straight :D. Out of these quests in the video my top 3 would be : 1. Goblin Trouble - I just like the concept of Goblin war as well as helping settlers creating a new village/settlement as well as 2 different ways to approach this quest. 2. Imperial Corruption - It's a cool idea for a quest, favorite part would be how Audens Avidius gets out from jail and his ranting before he tries to kill you. 3. Tears of the Savior - I had trouble locating the fifth tear with my first character, but overall I like the atmosphere, by that I mean the unique looking door in the caves as well as the 'outside' enclosed area. 4. The Siren's Deception The rest I honestly don't know, they are kinda tied in ranking for me.

Fun fact: Some of the Fighters Guild Quests are optional. I've played the game several times. The Fighters Guild has scripted quests like the first one and quests related to the fighters guild members and the guilds quest line plot. But several of them are completely optional. Some of them all you have to be is be the appropriate level be around the cities and over hear a conversation. You'll get an update about the quest and you can complete it. Alternatively you can be a member of the guild and accept a contract that will be given to you regardless of level. But only a few of them that aren't specific to the guild it's self are completely optional even though they will have dialogue if you got the quest through them. If you did them before joining you'll get through the story line allot faster but then again all the guilds are relatively fast compared to Skyrim. The mages guild in Skyrim is like what 3 or 4 quests long and boom you're the master the companions were like that as well. I supposed in Oblivion once you beat the story line for a guild there is hardly any reason to come back there. But in Skyrim oh endless radiant quests yay. Me personally who is a hoarder 1 million gold is to low for me so I do gladly accept the endless quests but that's just me. Love these videos mate.

usually after i kill the graverobbers, jansine loves me (100 disposition) so i have really no idea what happened here. also, why would beguile not work ? it gives 35 points and i think you can afford 50 coins for a bribe before the spell. edit: now i see you talking to itius, again you bribe him after the spell lol

The disposition checks are not hard if you have gained some fame from quests. If you're an Imperial, you can just charm them for 30 points with voice of the emperor.

It's a bit disappointing that the only two channels doing good Oblivion videos now, this one and Dark Lore Dash, never properly play the persuasion game and instead just slam the bribe button. I know it's easier and there isn't much other good use for your gold in this game but just from a role playing perspective it would be nice to see some youtubers use it once in a while. The idea of the game is that you are winning them over with your powers of persuasion instead of bribery. You can easily max out their disposition without the use of scrolls, spells or septims with the persuasion minigame.

I find the persuasion mini game quite simple once you get the hang of it. Maybe the creators are a bit lazy or they don't want to bore the audience and just quickly get to the meat of the quest.
