You cIowned on calling "bulli" over people pointing you had a cringey argument for necrozma. It doesnt look any more yugioh than arceus or giratina, so not looking like a pokemon isnt even some reasoning you "fought", thats "muh nostalgia" to play a bigger role it looks as much as a pokemon as kyogre does while looking much better and being one of the most popular forms in the series by far for a reason.

What I’ve picked up from this video is that self-buffs are something you can seamlessly add into Smash (Lucario Aura, Wii Fit Breathing, Incineroar Revenge, Hero boosts, Arsene) while debuffs on the opponent are a little too “Multiversus-y”

I genuinely think Sharpedo could work, solely cuz of he could carry/grab stuff fin his mouth, use his fins/head for various attacks, and has plenty of special ideas through moves like waterfall or aqua jet. “Oh but it’s floating!” True, but it makes sense since Sharpedo canonically propels itself by expelling water out of its back like a jet, so it floating around wouldn’t be weird, and it could still be hit by a lower attacks since its lower fin could be hit by said lower attack! It even has a mega evolution for a final smash, fish body plan be damned

35:53 Honestly, I don’t really understand this take at all, given some of the most popular requests since Brawl and especially during Ultimate’s DLC run have been for the likes of Geno and Paper Mario - characters who also hail from offshoot strategy-based spin-off series of a Nintendo mainstay much like Grovyle would from PMD. Given the fan demand for those characters, and the fact that Pokémon is objectively a bigger franchise than Mario, I don’t see why Pokémon can’t get a spin-off rep especially given how beloved PMD is, even speaking as someone who’s hardly touched it.

I think he just looks at it from a perspective of "the mainline games are *all* that's really taken from Pokemon". Like, most of what is in Smash and what will likely ever be in Smash are the Pokemon that take from the main series games. We can't even get humans past PT. This feels like it's just looking at the Pokemon in the lense of how they appear in the main series and I feel it could be kind of weird to give one Pokemon some special spinoff treatment just because it was a good character.

@@castform7Well, what would humans even do in Smash, like for spirit battle all would be "The opponent prefers to avoid battle" while you have to defeat an ally. It's not like thropies were they could put it as they didn't had to thought about how would they fight, and if you wanted to put a playable human you would be doing Pokémon Trainer again which is one of the most time consuming characters

Even then, I think the better part of the argument is, “This is probably *the* middle evolution that everyone cares about.” MockRock really put forth that argument on one of the two starters that you could make an exception for. If there was any sort of PMD representation in Smash, I’d be happy enough with its music getting added, remix or not. Dialga’s Fight to the Finish is such a hype banger, and is one of the sorest missed opportunities for music in the series.

I do still stand by the fact that my boy Slaking would be a unique fighrer in smash, just if its the fact that he can utilize a lot of the major weaknesses that Heavyweights already have because how they're balanced (slow, poor recovery, poor combo game) but now with Nintendo paying attention to his stat pool, make him BUSTED. He could have the poor recovery, and some moves be too slow, and generally seem weak, until you see him in action and its like Doctor Mario on steroids. Crazy powerful combo game creating a glass canon that breaks you or gets broken by you

I feel like simply removing Pawmo from existence would bump up the popularity of Pawmi and Pawmot a decent amount. Pawmi to Pawmot is more of a substantial change. Pawmi to Pawmo though, it just stands up. And then Pawmo evolves and it just gets some new fringe fuzz and slightly different facial proportions that most people don't even notice. Pawmot would be less hated as a single stage, I don't know what they thought they were cooking, but it was not in the oven for the correct amount of time at all.

I'm gonna Call it and say Meowscarada will be the next fighter, its a very popular Pokemon especially in japan and when it comes to Fully evolved starters, Grass is the lone one missing! But just for fun, i'm also gonna say Cinderace joins also because it's moveset could be perfect for the next smash also, but most of all, Gen 8 music is absent in smash bros where every other generation got represented.

Meowscarada would work so well if we didn't already have the only other cat starter already in smash. Like it still isn't that bad (pichu exists), but there are so many pokemon that it feels like sort of a waste. That being said, a gen 9 pokemon trainer with Fuecoco, Quaquaval, and Meowscarada would be perfect! It would feel a lot less weird and character switching is really underutilized in smash imo.

Gotta say I really, *really* liked this series. I've basically said what I'm going to say in part 1 but I feel like Pokemon is just one of those series that I feel like works so well for Smash because of how diverse and varied almost every single one of these creatures is. I used to think all the time about how some Pokemon could fit in the game and this 2 parter was kind of a mini revitalization of that with all of the cool new ideas that came from the Ss, As and even some B tiers. It made me want to see more Pokemon in Smash even though it's the most populous franchise represented not only through fighters but also the Pokeballs. A lot of these guys just have a lot of potential and moveset coolness will probably always trump who exactly gets in most of the time.

I would argue Lurantis could go higher, it's a surprisingly tanky grass type that gets access to Superpower and Leaf Storm. Make it kinda slow, but with the contrary rage and access to Superpower for a heavy/super armor special.

I've left a couple critical comments so let me say that I LOVE that you made this video. 5 hours of content on this topic is such a treat. With that said... you're putting the burden on fire types because there are already two fire types in smash, charizard and incineroar. 15:27 I quite like the farfetched as echo fighters because sirfechd has a sheild, which in smash block projectiles, that the farfetchd don't have. This means that sirfetchd could be built more defensive around using meteor assault to get in and out quickly whereas farfetchd could be quicker and more combo focused. I personally like when echo fighters get more different (as youve said a couple of times in videos) and i think this is a good way of getting a difference

There’s one way Groudon can subtly affect the weather without it being a total obstruction: since the ability name is Drought we can actually interpret that a bit differently, rather than it summoning the entire sun it could just be a passive gimmick where getting close to Groudon causes the heat it generates to affect u to an extent; maybe with passive damage and then if ur in his zone too long u start burning and his attacks get stronger

Also i think a Marvel/3v3 Tag game would work a lot better for pokemon, it lets you form a team of pokemon and since movement generally is lower you can help to distinguish movement fighters, but also you can make a few more flying and weather pokemon work

Neutral B: barrage (the signature move of the exeggcute line Forward smash: stacks ontop of eachother and use slam Up smash: uses egg bomb, kamakazing an egg upwards (they survive) Down smash: the exeggutes spin on the ground Jab: uses tackle, ramming into the opponets, Up B: uses power whip, slow but has long range Forward B: uses rollout a max of 6 (i think) times. Each getting stronger the more hits it does Down B: leech seed, will drain opponet max or 10% Down air: doward headbutts, can spike Forward air: dashes into opponet, Nair: uses psychic, to push the opponet back Taunt(up): they stack ontop of eachother Taunt(sides): they rock back and fourth Taunt(down): they fall from a tree and act dizzy before quickly recovering Final smash: they hop ontop of a alolan exeggutor and the alolan exeggutor uses dragon hammer Thats all, if wanted i will animate it and post it (self plug lol, i also suck at animating)

You know, if Trevenant can turn its opponents into grass-types, why not give it a move to capitalize on it? Trevenant can learn Will o Wisp to burn opponents, so maybe the more grassy an opponent is, the more damage Will o wisp (and other Fire moves from other fighters) will do. I also actually used to brainstorm how Serperior would work in Smash Ultimate. Being a serpent, it could have little vine attacks, but it could create leaf tornadoes, it’s dash could be a super low slither, letting it speed under projectiles, and it could have three really unique mechanics: 1. Its neutral special is Leaf Tornado. It can have a contrarian-like effect where if a character has stat boost, the leaf tornado can inverse that boost. So a Shulk with the Speed Art or a Ganondorf with the rabbit ear item would have their speed severely reduced. 2. Like a snake wrapping around a branch, its up special could wrap it around a small platform and it could attack, drop, or up special to a nearby platform to pressure or chase the opponent. 3. It’s down special could be Coil. Serperior coils up and could get a high jump, a quick sweep attack, or reduced damage when attacked while coiled. It’s basically a stance mechanic that forces the player to make an evasive, offensive, or defensive maneuver. Its final smash could probably be Leaf Storm, basically a much shorter range version of Pokemon Trainer’s final smash, but with extra damage and width in place of range.

1:13:51 I can’t really think of any way for arceus trainer to work on the battlefield with Pokémon other than to have them like a semi ice climbers character like you can start with no Pokémon out for some ultimate survival so-po but you can switch what Pokémon follows you around kinda like ice climbers and now that we have new sort of gimmicks like Steve being able to shield and press b to respawn his crafting table at any time or for inkling to get more ink the Arceus trainer can actually have an actual down special and use shield + tap B to switch or hold B to recall for solo. Though that does mean they can probably be separated making it easier to k.o. the trainer. That does also bring the possibility of getting desynced by Arceus trainer but that would be sick so I wouldn’t mind it

After watching the full 5 and a half hours, let me first say that this was a great video. My takeaway is that most of my contentions come from the framework of the video. I would've analyzed them in a vacuum instead of within the context of the existing roster of characters in smash. For example I would've given rillaboom an easy S-tier because I wouldn't have taken into account the similarities to donkey kong. Again though, great video.

Jokes aside Lopunny would be a B at best. Nothing about it is especially inspiring for a moveset. It's also a case where Mega Lopunny kind of just feels like a direct upgrade aesthetically and potential mechanics. With that said, you really gonna' penalize Lopunny for the horny online without even mentioning it with Gardevoir? M'just saying.

Penalizing Lopunny for its appearance is really strange when Meowscarada will 1000% be in the next Smash game due to its overwhelming popularity as well as having a rabid online fanbase.

I think a tier that’s just “better as an item/hazard/poke ball summon” would be great for the likes of Wobbuffet, Unown, and others that don’t work well as fighters due to their design but do have solid character elements that could be (and have been) incorporated into hazards and poke balls

Interestingly enough, both Wobbuffet and Unown were Pokéball assists in earlier Smash games, but were removed in later games.

Finally finished the video, fire man just fire! I think a "pokemon-only platform fighter" would be much better of a video so we can do something about all those flappy birds and splashy fish. Being constricted to the status quo for smash bros is definitely harping the list.

Talking about Kubfu/Urshifu, If you want to see that idea, the fangame Pokemon Close Combat (which is a traditional fg with fighting Pokemon) has it. You have Tyrogue thats pretty weak, but depending on which attacks you land (more punches/kicks/balanced), ypu evolve into Hitmonlee/chan/top. You can also stay as Tyrogue for an extra move.

1:19:51 Darkri actually does have legs! In Pokken Tournament, he stands on his two legs during his grab in duel phase. He also uses his legs in his Synergy Burst Attack.

I think you highly underrated seismitoad. There's a lot of potential there and its body shape works. Heavy but with high jumps and relies on sound, water, and ground attacks but also has coverage with its extendable tongue (power whip, poison jab, brick break). I think it's an easy B tier pick.
