Farfetch'd, known in Japanese as カモネギ _Kamonegi,_ is a literal form of the Japanese saying 「鴨が葱をしょって来る」 _kamo ga negi o shotte kuru_ "a duck comes bearing green onions". This is an idiom for a very unlikely and pleasant happenstance (i.e. you would cook the duck and onions together), and "farfetched" is an unusually accurate English approximation of the concept. For trademark purposes they had to spell it funny.

@@fjparasite1172 Yeah... That is when you realized it's not a dragon type. It's Water-Flying type and in gens 1-3 it can't really use it's STAB moves effective(i.e. water is special, gyarados is a physical attacker can't learn a decent flying type move)

I'm more of a squirtle type of person but I do recognise Bulba supremacy (at least in Gen 1). Leech seed was sooooo OP in gen 1. Just do leech seed + toxic and then spam drains. It's a pity it could not learn Wrap, but Razor leaf had decent crit rate back in the day, because it was based on speed and, while -Saurs are not the fastest, they are definitely not the slowest either

@@Joana-K well, Gen 1 is not so different but the mechanics of some moves were too OP. I bet you would enjoy it. Some examples are: Special was one stat, meaning it counted for both attack and defense, making Slowbro, who could use Amnesia, the strongest pokemon after Mewtwo, only lacking in speed. Leech seed/toxic + Wrap was infinity stunlock if used by a fast pokemon because the pokemon could not move until the wrap ended and scyther, persian, dugtrio, jolteon and Aerodactyl could always crit with high critical ratio moves because in Gen 1, crit chance scaled with speed. Of course, there were bad moves too (If rage missed then it only had 1/256 chances of successfully hitting and your pokemon could only do that until it faints)

Sorry if anyone already mentioned this but the theory behind Golem and Machamp is that they were supposed to be traded together and have their genes together. Thus graveler gives machoke its 4 arms, and machoke gives its reptilian face.

Yep, to expand on this, John mentioned how venonat looks like butterfree. It might have been intended that venomoth and butterfree were originally meant to be traded evolutions which is why metapod looks like venomoth and venonat looks like butterfree.
