ngl twilight light really got me with its foreshadowing on mizuki tho. You see her dancing further from the rest of the group and while the rest of the group moves around you see her walking in place. some of the moves of id smile are also repeated. it's a really nice detail and when the song came out, i knew to strap in for the upcoming arc. the 3d mv almost feels like a retell of mafuyu's arc and an acknowledgent that mizuki during the time mafuyu's grown closer with the group mizuki has remained stagnant and even gained distance. for that reason that 3dmv is actually pretty high on my list

Another detail I like about it is that it's the only n25 3dmv in the entire game where ALL characters smile. There's also a lot more details and symbolism like the lighting being similar to the colors of the sky (which is a motif in their story) which is why the chorus kicks in at night. Snd there's also the rain (which is another motif)

@@A134-z8g Hi. If I'd known the others were doing stuff while we were stuck looking at Len, that would have probably impacted the placement (would've at least put it below Mind Brand lol). I know I'm very cool, but unfortunately I'm not omnipotent yet. I don't look up "fixed camera" or live versions of MVs, so I just didn't know the others were doing stuff during that section. I figured they were all just standing around. Also, I do like Nightcord, but Vivid Bad Squad is my favorite group. NC has never succeeded in being my #1 MV for the years I've done these rankings, and their highest ranking MV this year is lower than every other group's highest MV. Mind Brand is also consistently my example of Nightcord doing poorly this year, during my conclusion section. The bottom of the C Tier isn't really worth bad mouthing me, don't you think? I just find Mind Brand and Shadow Shadow slightly less boring than some other MVs. How about you go make your own video if all you want is to hear your own thoughts be echoed. :)

I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THISSSSSS My thoughts on Ultra C are that especially for the second part of the MV they wanted to give it a realistic feel. This isn't the kids (i'm literally the same age as them I caught the word from u help lmao) dancing along to a song to film a music video: this is what their performance would look like in the story; this is how Rad Blast went. Ultra C feels like the song they would surpass Rad Weekend with, so they gave us an mv to look at how they actually did it. It makes this 3dmv a little better in my eyes, although I do agree vbs dancing 3dmvs slap harder anyway tysm for the video, this series of yours actually made me appreciate the 3dmvs a lot more. now whenever a new one comes out, i look closer, rewatch more, see more details and also think "oh i wonder what twiinsiink would think about this one" (ahem-ahem regulus), so i hope you keep doing this next year ^^ aaaand now im gonna go rewatch your previous rankings for the time being oh, almost forgot! my least favorite character is probably luka and my favorite card of hers is "Take a New Angle" - her lim from Mizu4 where she sits in the rain :D

FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY I WILL WATCH AND THEN SAY WHAT I THINK edit: after the video, i gotta say i kinda didnt expect a lot of the choices. when i saw tokyo teddy bear come out, i thought, wow leoneeds stepping up their game! like the youtuber wanted! and then it ends up almost dead last lol i think if they did a "cracked screen" effect instead of. those weirdly round screen cutouts in the corners it would look better though. honestly surprised to see heat abnormal pretty low (even if it was still in the top 10 for this year), as someone who really likes dancing i think its pretty good, i like how they frantically run and look around, mizuki reaching their hand out at the camera for a split second, then doing it with kanade a while later, i think it all comes together really well. envy baby is my ultimate favorite 3dmv. the choreo is genuinely the best nightcords gotten this year, the second it came out i had to start learning it because its just so GOOD. and its with RIN? she deserved it SO bad. i think shadow shadows first part kinda ruins the mv. like a lot. len get your stupid face out of the camera youre blocking everything (genuinely. everyone else has choreo during that part but we focus on len, which is weird because we do it at the beginning AND end, just keep the one at the end considering it already looks like the cover art. jumpin over baffles me with the outfit choice. WHY did they stick shizuku in harukas color when all of the outfits have swatches for all of mmj? also, i dont like marshall maximizer. i think its a boring mv with NOTHING going on other than the dancing and thats kinda. sad. i also will say that as someone who loves fashion, the outfits in this game have been getting.... pretty bad. i think wxs events nail them pretty much everytime, mmj events have some adorable ones, but for a lot of vbs its just.. jacket. same with nightcord, a lot of it is just dark dresses without much thought. and leoneed.. leoneed. not to mention the swatches, when all the outfits get the exact same swatches of color. whats the point? the wxs worldlink ones disappointed me a lot especially, why do emu and nene have ones that mirror eachother when they both have outfits for the event? same with rui and tsukasa. its weird. its really weird. not to mention i dont know what goes on in their heads when they pick the outfits for mvs. i feel like theres so many more intricate outfits to choose from but then they go with the most boring option. i like the choice of marionette outfits for envy baby, but why are rin, ena, and mafuyu matching but then mizuki and kanade are in blue? its just kind of. weird. dont even get me started on the english uploads of mvs. WHY would they put vbs in their UNIT outfits for an EVENT song. I agree about the fashion. I wouldn't call it "bad" but rather it's just like.... the same thing over and over again. Leo/Need LOVE military/police coded uniforms. VBS are just cycling through casual hoodies and ripped jeans. We've got a million black and white dresses and shorts for nightcord. Don't even get me started on Tsukasa's unending supply of "just a white suit" options. I know it can be tough to come up with a bunch of unique designs when you have to do 3 outfits every week for a whole year. But I feel like there are still huge gaps in what the kids have available that just get ignored. Can the boys wear sleeveless tops sometimes? Why are we afraid of putting the girls in just... normal pants? Ya feel me?

@@twiinsiink we have gotten quite a few pants outfits for the girls, shizuku wedding is GORGEOUS and i think the purpose outfits are. okay? theres still not enough though, and men really deserve more variety because i think the most original outfit i have for them is mailman len, and even that is pretty much a suit. i think premium passes are doing a lot of the heavy lifting for the outfits, especially when we get a cute theme we havent before, but thats still segas choice for which they add. seriously, for the detective theme, they picked a cat detective outfit for the girls, and then some random outfit with a fugly hat for the guys, and then put the guys cat outfit as the runner up... like, come on, could atleast have had them match. i seriously hope we get more concrete event themes for mixed events, wxs always has really good themes, aliens, samurais, etc etc, itd be nice to see that for other groups and not just wxs and mixed events lol

I've honestly been honeyed that they changed Ego Rock's costume to that abomination of Nene's first focus event costume but I brushed it off thinking it's just a cover. But this is too far. It's an event focus song they should be in their outfits, the only one I can kinda forgive of this happening is Stella since it was the very first event MV.

A thing I want to mention is: Leo/Need's 3D MV'S always have a vocaloid play the same instrument. I don't read the stories but apparently the vocaloids can play all instruments & I think it would be nice to have them play something other than a guitar. Obviously there can't be two drummers on one "stage" since the space is limited but idk there are so many more instruments that the vocaloids could play in the MV's. Also since Saki sometimes plays a keytar which makes more space I think there could be two keytars maybe. Leo/Need's 3D MV's really suffer from the girls & vocaloids just standing & playing the instruments Another thing: I think there's too much Miku. I get it she's like the most popular Crypton vocaloid basically blowing up. I made playlists for each of the vocaloids except Miku, the playlists include the Sekai versions of the song as well as the songs from VS(not counting the covers from the cover store). Each of them as far as I remember have roughly the same number of songs but if I did it for Miku she'd definitely have much more

I fully agree about the Leo/Need MVs. I think the only solution other than having the vocaloid always be on 2nd guitar duty would be to have the human girl just hold a mic and sing so the vocaloid can take over the drums/keyboard. Sort of like Ikanaide or Hello Worker, but it's Honami at center singing while Meiko or someone plays the drums. But I don't know if they'd want to do that?

great video! i always look forward to these each year; i really appreciate the amount of detail you go into for each mv :) the reason why us vbs fans love ultra c's 3dmv so much is because it finally showed them performing onstage like they would in canon :) it was very exciting to see a realistic depiction of one of their actual concerts to accompany such an important event-- like we were actually watching the performance that surpassed rad weekend!-- even if it sacrificed some of their usual on-point choreography.

Something I've lamented about previously is the use of the vocaloids in the songs in general. Where one being the most involved in an event story and having a card featured in a gacha set, another vocaloid gets to be in the song instead. It's probably a side effect of Miku getting slapped into 3DMVs unprompted, but since the 3rd anni., that idea seems to be more consistent. Where the Vocaloid is actually in the spotlight

I think what’s invoking the corporate feeling for tetrad is the dancing. It’s super in sync and polished which is good and impressive for a dance performance but if what you’re looking for is Wandasho’s personality and energy that kind of gets taken away. There’s value in both styles of performance, Wandasho lends itself to being less in sync and more personality based.

Bake no hana doesnt make sense as a 3dmv, the 2dmv is all in mizukis mind and the art plays with that, the group isnt preforming it though its just mizuki. But yeah I wish flos mv was not so bland, though I love the cover!!

You doing these vids always give me so much inspiration. Everytime you critique a 3dmv I always think of ideas on how to fix it. So I thought I'll tell my ideas. For heat abnormal I wish that Kaito played as scientist trying to stop the world from ending and N25 are ghosts that dance as if the world isnt ending. Maybe sometimes when Kaito isnt singing he just stops dancing and runs to a control pannel, or just looks really uneasy. Then at the end when the girls start disappearing Kaito just stays there. Not disappearing. And realising he's failed. As for suresure this one might be a strech/ooc. After the starting bit where saki was alone in the hospital it would cut not to the stage in the mv but the sekai classroom. You see everyone playing their instruments but they seem out of it, sad, Melancholic. As if they're not having fun, not that they're forcing themself play but they seem... serious. Thats when you see in the background that Rin is playing the piano and not saki. Once in a while in the song it cuts back to saki alone in the hospital. The big reason why Im not happy about this idea is that it sounds like L/N abandoned her which is EXTREMELY OOC. Thats about it for now. I do have one more but its pretty minor, for kiss the villain i wish they made Kaito try to get close to the girls but the girls seem annoyed and move away from him. That push the narative alot more and make the final scene more earned.

This year I wanted to ask if you'd seen all the 3dmv Cut-ins for the new SEKAI songs, they were released alongside each groups world-link event. I don't think they were uploaded officially, but watching them is a worthwhile experience! I'd love to hear your takes on them as well (especially vivid bad squads hahahaa.........😨) anyways, my favourite shiho card is "The sound of Beginning" from the "Stick To Your Faith" event. The trained version is just gorgeous and I can't deny how amazing it is.

I watched the video yesterday already but I still wanted to comment my honest opinion, the majority of the MVs definetly improved visually but it lacks something and I definetly don‘t like how we only got full group MVs, I sometimes prefer the MVs only having 2-3 members in it, it gives these MVs much more personality, but the 4th year is starting off good, I saw the new livestream today and Nightcord gets a new 3D MV featuring Ena, Kanade and Luka 🫶🏼 My favorites for this year are by far Blender, Regulus and Heat Abnormal, I rewatch those 3 MVs so often, Blender has such a warm and sweet vibe, especially the interactions, Regulus is finally a really good MV and all those visual effects are stunning and Hear Abnormal with those evil red colors and the colors shining in the chorus just gives me chills ❤️

But I'm so glad that Leo/Need finally have a really good 3DMV, especially for such a banger. Ty sm Sega lmao I have unfortunate news about suresure tho :') I'm not trying to be the pronunciation police or anything, please don't be mistaken!!! I'm here to explain stuff!! It's less of a pronunciation problem here, the main problem is knowing how to read it. Japanese to romaji isn't very helpful sometimes, it does make pronouncing things in english pretty confusing and idk what your level of japanese understanding is so I don't expect you to be perfect or anything!!! Suresure isn't the same as english's "sure sure", it's written in hiragana and there is no "sh" sound in how it's spelled so it wouldn't be "sure sure" when pronounced in english even if it were written in katakana. This means it's a Japanese word, although I'm not sure (bu-dum bing) what it means. From what I've googled it's when you're close to something or grazing/skimming it, but I can't confirm unfortunately. Still learning haha. I'm trying to think how someone could pronounce suresure in an english-y way, probably like sue-ray sue-ray?? Idk, sorry I'm not that helpful in that regard, just wanted to clear any confusion (and also an excuse to yap about Japanese language because I love languages lmao). Pronunciation/spelling nonsense aside, fun fact about suresure: I've seen somewhere that it's to combo teratera so you get "sutera sutera" (Stella Stella), which I think is pretty cool if so Great vid as always, love your rankings :))

i respect a ton of your opinions but i am curious why youre so against taking the backgrounds into account? especially with Heat Abnormal, it's specifically playing into the narrative you keep mentioning that you want to see! I think im hung up on it because of The Tetrad that Illuminates the World's ranking and how little you acknowledge the background, which i think really sells the 3dmv (akin to Heat Abnormal) since all the background changes play into each group member of wxs! nonetheless im still only halfway through the video but ive enjoyed listening to this while playing peggle and tetris

I'm not against taking them into account, as I discuss during the conclusionary section. I'm just not "here for it" in than the value of a 3D MV over a 2D one is the performance of the characters. How they dance and interact and act is what I value the most, and is why I like ranking 3D MVs and not the 2D ones where all I'd really get to say for them all would be "I like this art".

Thank you for the video! A highlight of every anni for sure. My least fav character happens to be Minori (alongside Miku, but that's not that interesting), I just don't like this character archetype. My favorite card of hers is from the Spooky forest gacha! Not much competition, the card is gorgeous, the flowers, the details, the facial expression and headpiece with horns and sheep ears... Surprising to see this level of quality from an old card. Also, the untrained is so funny to me featuring Haruka with cat ears. They are adorable.

I understand disliking the straight-on solo shots, I love when the 3DMVs have some sort of characterization or story-telling myself! But I feel those solo shots are a pretty big part of 3DMVs as well? I think a huge part of the 3DMVs is putting in your favs and taking screenshots/making edits of these shots (especially in the jp fandom). Killer for example is probably one of the most popular new 3DMVs solely because of those shots- the amount of edits it gets is crazy. It’s probably also why impressive background/sets and lighting was a big focus with the 3DMVs this year. That being said, totally get wanting more interesting shots even if I enjoy having those solo shot parts. A fun watch, just as your other rankings were! It’s nice to go through the year’s 3DMVs again and see what other people think about them!

Heat Abnormal is probably the only placement I don't fully agree with. Would've put it in like mid- to high A tier myself. I get the argument of it feeling like the background is the focus, but I feel like it's one of the rare songs where I think it fits. All throughout, Kaito feels kinda out of place (in a good way), like the girls know something he doesn't. And then Kaito just completely stopping to watch the meteor strike once he notices it while the girls keep going, as if ignoring the fact the world is ending. I don't know exactly how to describe how I feel about that 3DMV, it just really clicks for me I will admit that part of my liking of the MV might be my love of the song itself

You know what NEEDS to be a 3dmv? Lag train. There is only one kanamizu 3dmv, and only one nightcord meiko mv. Literally why wouldn't you make it a 3dmv? For the last question, my least favorite characters are probably Haruka, Ichika and Saki. Not because I actively dislike them, but because they don’t really interest me enough. I admit that I am only interested in L/N because of Honami, and MMJ never stood out to me, but the other girls engaged me somehow, except for Haruka My favorite cards are: Haruka: The future I wish for with everyone (The new year’s card where she had that beautiful long hair and is looking elegant with traditional attire.) Saki: Abyss of Memories (The icon Bathtub Card.) Ichika: She has a lot of great cards. But “Meeting Miku” with all that blue and white aesthetic, “To deliver good sound” with that summer blueish aesthetic and “New Beginnings” with (again) this SPETACULAR blues are perfect. Also, I would love to see your opinions on Alt vocals and Cards. Maybe rankings or just saying your opinion! Of course, only of you want to! I really look forward to these videos of yours. Thanks for all your hard work. I had actually forgotten how happy I was to see Saki finally being able to move in the MVs. It was definitely a step in the right direction, and it'd be nice if it gets used a bit more often going forward. Seibai getting a high ranking made me happy; even ignoring how much I adore the song, it pretty much embodies everything I love about WxS 3DMV's. I very much agree with wanting to see different combinations of characters in these to spice things up. Of course, in order for us to get a Kohane+Akito 3DMV, we first need to get a song where they sing without An and Toya that isn't an alt or part of the VBS archives. EDIT: As for my favorite card for my least favorite character...I'm split between two: First, there's Shiho, who generally rubs me the wrong way more than the others do, for similar reasons that you mentioned in your Hot Takes video. My favorite card for her is the trained version of Filled With My "Thanks" (though I find it somewhat puzzling that she gets the skirt while Mizuki gets the shorts; I feel like it should've been the other way around). The other one is Kohane, who I find to be the least interesting character due to her lack of a real backstory and because it sometimes feels like she struggles the least. My favorite card for her is the trained version of I'll Protect You, though I also like both versions of The Best Chocolate for Our Teammates.
