The imperial Fists were actually wiped out during the battle of Ardamantua except for one marine who became the leader of the Imperium for a bit the remade the chapter with members of other legions and eventually started making new ones, but technically the chapter was destroyed. this was all during the rise of 'The Beast' which is an amazing series of books about the Orks

So I am here to explain why I like the ones I do that got bad ratings: Alpha Legion: honestly I love the trickster, no one knows where they are with you, type of vibe and deal, it's just something that appeals to me generally(In TTRPG's I tend to favour tricksters or run up and smash your face in and tank hits like a brick wall) so they just tickle my fancy. Salamanders: I just like the juxtaposition they have with the imperium conceptually. The caring vs the Uncaring and all that. but ultimately space marines are a faction that I generally don't get much out of so it was really interesting to hear the opinions of people who clearly are more into them than me.

The Alpha Legion are a specialist Legion. The Night Lords are terror specialists. The Raven Guard specialize in more general stealth. The White Scars specialize in speed and hit and run tactics. The Dark Angels specialized in operational security and WMD. The Alpha Legion specialize in infiltration. They infiltrate power structures, embed agents, hide Astartes in place until ready to strike. Like the Night Lords they don't fight honestly. As for I am Alpharius? Alpharius is the public face of the ALpha Legion. There is Alpharius the Primarch and Alpharius the role. An Alpha Legionnaire refusing the give his name and using the shared identity of Alpharius is just denying foes more information. If you really like Legions like the Imperial Fists then you are not likely to find the Alpha Legion palatable. The Alpha Legion would not be bland enough for you.....

Oh the Alpha Legion is so much more than that, but pour one out for Pech indeed What I love about the Alpha Legion is that they value their human agents even if they are willing to sacrifice them, almost as much sometimes as they value their own brothers. They will throw themselves into danger to save just a guy that believes in them, but they will be just as ready to send that man to die if it furthers their goals. It's a great dichotomy of "you matter, but you have a job to do." I also love where they are in 40k, where each warband of Alpha Legion is following what they think was the mission from the primarchs, and they are all probably wrong. I just love that. Legion is my favorite Horus Heresy book too though, so I am fully biased. Definitely recommend Harrowmaster for 40k Alpha Legion Also, Sangy is best boy Also also, still liked the video, thanks for another great video boys!

I'm an RG main/player and I disagree but totally get your opinion on us. I enjoy everything about us and the characters are dope if you look into shrike, nykona sharrowkyn and stuff they're cool. But they've always been a legion of stealth and subtlety so not being of note isn't entirely bad but is warranted for not being higher that and being almost extinct 😂

5)DG because of their logic of warfare in 40k. If they ever find themselves on a siege scenario.... Attrition warfare... Sickness can level a city faster than any weapon. Also Typhus is a cool miniature. Morty is a hypocrite.... Not a great fun. Very cool model. 4) Iron warriors Perty despite his shortcomings as a character (that make him human) is a great tactitian. He carried the siege as well. The whole discipline as a legion is very close to my heart. 3)Thosound sons. Magnus and Ahriman are great characters. Magnus' errors and arrogance are great lessons to be taken. Rubrics look awesome as welle.His psychic might and model miniature are phenomenal. 2)DA Even though the whole hunt the fallen can get pretty meme.... The knight aesthetic is brilliant! Also, every character named after a great angel.... Sef's kiss! Plus, all the dw knights are arguably one of the best minis in the space marines range. 1) BA I love the fact that they are artisans... Love the fact that they are trying to overcome their genetic flaws.... DANTE is a giga chad.... Mephiston is the cool guy that never looks back at explosions.... But....BUT....The devastation of Baal is one of the greatest audio books ever! One of the best experiences I ever had. Fun fact... When the skies split and Korn comes to play was epic and it happened for me while flying with flashes of lightning and turbulence.... Couldn't have asked (or quite frankly find) for a better setting. Full emersion! Sanguinius was great as well.... He knew he was going down and still gave his best... I could argue taking DG out of 5 if we are strictly going with lore though and swipe it for Ultramarines....G man is a chad. His 30k Primark book is decent enough.... And honestly.... They make sense when going to war.

Most favorite legions: 1. White Scars (one of the most human and personality driven legions) 2. Ultramarines, much more interesting in 30k (once again, Know No Fear), Thellemachus, Eonid Thiel etc. 3. World Eaters (again great characters, Kharn, Lotara, Galen Surlak. Awful Primarch though). Betrayer is that good. 4. Alpha Legion, yes the "I am Alpharius" meme is annoying, but their books are just good. Head of the Hydra, Legion etc. 5. Night Lords, Konrad is a basket case, but damn does the Night Lords trilogy make these guys compelling. 6. Death Guard, great characters in Typhus, Garro and Grulgor. Another abysmal Primarch though). Worst: 1. Emperor's Children: Fulgrim and Saul Tarvitz do not compensate at all for Fabius Bile, Lucius and particularly Eidolon. They also contributed nothing post Istvaan. 2. Iron Hands, just assholes with bionics, nothing much else here. 3. Space Wolves, no likeable characters at all outside of Björn, next. 4. Salamanders....Nick Khyme is not doing the good guy Marines any favours.

Alpha Legion While I absolutely love the 30k special Armors, color and premise of the Alpha Legion, I passed starting with them because I didn’t want to JUST paint basic CSM in alpha legion colors and I didn’t feel confident tracking down the heresy models as my first models, and I didn’t feel confident painting white and red so I ended up going with my third favorite legion, with the added benefit of being largely ok buying Tzeentch Chaos Daemons alongside because the 1KSons are Tzeentchy dust boys.

They don’t fight for glory and fame, nor boast of their exploits. It’s why in lore they are even less known amongst those with the knowledge of the existence of different legions/chapters. It’s all so cool to me and their want for speed is just fun!

My favorite legions are the Dark Angels and the Alpha Legion. I like them both because they conduct warfare the way I would. Alpha legion infiltrating and basically trying to win the war before the enemy knows they are fighting one. When it comes to conventional forces, I like the wings set up of the dark angels. It just makes tactical sense to use their specialized formations.

Fenrir, the monstrous Norse wolf from which Space Wolves’ home world, Fenris, is named- *is* Viking mythology. The wolf aspect of Space Wolves IS Viking. And werewolves, though found in many other cultures, are actually early Nordic folklore, too. The ‘saga of the Volsungs’ talks about how a Father and Son discover that wolf pelts can turn people into wolves. All Viking related!

Never read any 30k books, so I am going only by looks, style and 40k lore. And from that point of few, Salamanders and Alpha Legion rock! Black Legion (and Abaddon) is pretty cool as well. As for Imperial Fists, I think I would rank them pretty low simply because painting yellow sucks to much. :P

Read the Word Bearers trilogy and you’ll see how much more substance the Word Bearers have in 40k. First Heretic, Know No Fear, Mark of Calth, Aurelian and Betrayer add even more to the legion than just “Erebus is a scrub”

Definitely grisly. Working on some Hellblasters now. Lots off battle damage. Greenstuff pelts. Made some viking style hair cuts with greenstuff. Gave 1 a shaved head look using apothecary white. Next up im gonna use the assault intercessors to make some blood claws.​@the_kieran_show

Good lists but Black Legion and Sons of Horus is not the same in any case. They are also no successor. Sons of Horus have been literly wiped out. Black Legion is more a pool of all traitor legions.

18. Iron Hands (I hate them in every way, lore, primarch, look,... the best thing about them was being pwned right at the start of HH) 17. Death Guard (I hate Morty and them appearing everywhere while having the Nurgle silliness takes away too much of the horror - made me sick of them...) 16. Imperial Fists (the reason their successors are so well fleshed out is because they have no personality in the first place - they look as speedbumps on the road and are as interesting) 15. Salamanders (I don't like their scheme, hate the fake drow skin and eyes, overall they are boring) 14. Word Bearers (they serve the purpose of bad guys of the setting, but are bland) 13. Iron Warriors (their armies can look soooo good, but that's about it... they are more interesting IF) 12. Raven Guard (I love the concept around their warfare, but I grew up with punk and always looked down at emo... RG are wannabe edgelords) 11. World Eaters (tragic story, but too one dimensional) 10. Ultramarines (too bland to hate, too bland to like) 9. Blood Angels (just the good guys... honestly they could be even lower with their pseudo 'evil trait' - 'Vampires' - boohoo... yeah, they are fine, but also nothing entertaining about them) 8. Emperor's Children (crazy - love their descend into madness, they feel off and absurd and it works) 7. Space Wolves (in theory they could be a top three, but then you read their lore and realise what cringy hypocrites they are... Russ is the worst... and the werewolf thing went too far... ridding giant wolves?... c'mon... they are this high because I love to hate them) 6. Sons of Horus (don't care about the Black Legion, but the OGs are what gets the story going) 5. Night Lords (love them as villians, love their traces of 'loyalist-terror-to-save-lives-because-we-are-more-humane-than-the others' ... Curz was a bit meh) 4. Alpha Legion (... I'm of two minds - they could be a Keyser Söze-story or just 'I'm Alpharius' then they would join the bottom... but I like their approach to warfare - turning planets on themselves - even though sneaky infiltrating SM is still stupid) 3. Thousand Sons (Magnus was wrong - and arrogant - but his legion was cool - and arrogant - and Ahriman rocks) 2. White Scars (if you want cool, not pathetic Space Wolves, you go with White Scars - also the most common sense legion and Primarch... If they had a dedicated range and I wouldn't already have a Ravenwing I would play them) 1. Dark Angels (got into them in the 90s, since they got lore and best troubled Primarch - lore has too much meme-Asomdai, but the concept is great, even if the execution is somewhat meh)

Dark Angels for me but I want a Fallen army led by Luther with dark angels twisted attire. The Sons of Horus are cool because they don't worship anyone. They are just rebels. I can't wait for Emperor's Children in 2025. They will go up the list. Fulgrim will rule! Heavy Metal noise marines and some sort of weird excess models like AOS. How pervy are the designers is the question..

Horus was infinitely better than Abaddon. I'm not sure how calling an absolute goat of a primarch (besides Sanguinius) "idiot" is matching with Abaddon being somehow smarter and more interesting. Horus conquered so many planets and almost entirely wiped out some of the legions in a short span of time while Abaddon is struggling with single planets. Horus would annihilate all those named characters in his sleep without Drachnyen. I'd say he kills Sigismund while being unarmed. It's the primarch we're talking about. According to the new lore even Emperor struggled with Horus and only through manipulation got the best of him yet you're telling that Abaddon is cool because he defeated Kharn lmao. Also read the first 3 books on the SoH - Abaddon was quite dumb and lacked any strategical prowess. Loken and Aximand were Mournival's brains I'd say the fall of Horus definitely felt rushed but it speaks to the character still

Horrible, nonsensical list. All I can offer is the comment making video activity. By your specifications being book action and model range, Space Wolves, Ultramarines and Salamanders should be WAY HIGHER. Especially the Spacw Wolves, their miniature range and lore is ridiculously good!

New warhammer fans opinion mostly based off of looks n cool factor: 18. Space wolves: Ugly ass colour scheme n I don’t care about Vikings and leeman russ sucks 17. Imperial fists: also really dislike the yellow and red look reminds me of Tonka trucks and they’re boring 16. Ultramarines: not insanely into the Roman look and the blue also mostly boring but I’ve been brainwashed into hating them by warhammer fans 15. Night lords: conrad sucks and they’re just depraved evil mfs that r edgy for the sake of being edgy 14. Black legion: Horus L and they’re boring and the black and gold is my least favourite chaos scheme 13. White scars: the khan is really cool and they’re shtick of the speed and such is cool so they’re higher up but their colour scheme almost ties with space wolves for how ugly it is to me 12. Iron hands: they look cool and the flesh is weak thing is dope but they’re boring past that and Ferrus manus sucks 11. Thousand sons: I may just not know enough about them but I think they’re just kinda mid to me they have cool lore aspects and models but I just don’t care personally 10. Raven guard: after learning about them more they’re concept is really cool and Corvus corax being a giant bird demon is awesome but they just don’t have enough to go higher they have potential tho 9. Salamanders: Vulcan is an S tier primarch and the friendly space marine is cool and fire is cool but that’s where it ends for me plus the current shade of green mixed w orange is not my favourite look 8. World eaters: they’re heresy look and modern look r both cool they have great lore and they’re just straight to the point but still have some interesting depth and tragedy to them 7. Dark angels: great characters great primarch great look especially the heresy one rly cool lore and interesting depth with the fallen and their paranoia plus chaplains r cool 6. Blood angels: top tier primarch great colour scheme and models rly cool angelic vampire look and great characters and lore with the red thirst and black rage n all that 5. Death guard: Morty is eh but the death guard look so awesome and scary and their lore is great good characters love all the nurgle rot stuff and if u haven’t seen the hammer and bolter episode about them u gotta it made me love them even more 4. Word bearers: amazing lore for me Erebus and lorgar r great villains their shtick of being basically evil satanists is awesome and their look especially heresy era is great (we need 40k models) 3. Alpha legion: I get why ppl dislike them but I think they’re stupid in an awesome way their lore is hilarious and badass and they have easily my favourite colour scheme 2. Iron warriors: I love the lore of them basically turning traitor just out of being petty assholes and spite plus perturabo is such a great asshole and their whole dark industrial steampunky look is amazing and demon engines r badass 1. Emperors children: their look is beautiful in both eras and fulgrim is my favourite primarch easily and their lore is incredible easily my favourite the symphony that made them fall to slanesh fully is one of my favourite stories and lastly, noise marines r the coolest thing in 40K change my mind.

Their "big thing" is bolters, and bolters are the big thing of every legion anyway. Being Bob the builder marines with a horrendous colour scheme isn't enough make a good legion.
