Nice straight forward reviews! On the point about APES and HOBO being outliers, while it may seem like RARE BLUE APES and HOBO don't fit in with the general (s)exploitation nature of the other films in the set, both were made by people that were heavily involved in sexploitation films. Donn Greer, writer/director of APES, did a plethora of soft and hardcore films in the 60s and 70s (and was also the twin brother of Hollywood actress Jane Greer). And the guy behind (as well as in) HOBO, Titus Moody (Moede), was a mainstream actor in the late 1950-60s, who then pivoted to exploitation (appearing in a number of Ray Dennis Steckler films, as well as behind and in front of the camera in a lot of other no-budget underground films), and then fully turning to pornography from the early 1970s till his death in 2001 (in fact he's considered one of the major pioneers of adult films). So, I think it's likely if these two films had been made by non-smut guys they probably wouldn't have made it in the set.

Thanks for that information. Very interesting, and it does make those two films make more sense in the set. Thanks for the compliment too.

Checking out your review bc this is on sale right now, the monkey movie is what is tempting me. I think ill pass just because the sexploitation isn't that appealing to me. Great review, thanks!

Yeah, if I wasn't a subscriber I wouldn't have purchased it. The sexploitation stuff doesn't do much for me.

I loved the fact Evie turns up on the documentary! Also, I thought I was an interesting set but essentially a sexploitation set more suited to Meslusine. There's just not enough storytelling going on in the films. Las Vegas Strangler was great, Black Widow was great nothing else really worked. Barbara, Voodoo and What's Love were just diabolical. Also, I thought Violated! was way too much. Red Midnight was wierd and a boring, like Hobos. I just don't really look at any of these films and think they are actual films. It's people talking and sex scenes. Still, I love to see a Vol 2 on Sci-Fi and Horror.

It definitely was very focused on sexploitation. A lot of the movies I wouldn't watch again. I do feel very compelled to watch Rare Blue Apes again though.
