Ranking ALL Sonic x Angry Birds Collab Events!

Ever since Sega's acquisition of Rovio last year (2023), I was wondering when they would finally collaborate and have their inevitable crossover event (again of course... after the Angry Birds Epic collaboration in 2015) and well... I'm happy to say that didn't just get one crossover, but FIVE! Sonic Dash, Angry Birds 2, Angry Birds Friends, Angry Birds Dream Blast and Sonic Forces Speed Battle. With us getting 3 new Sonic Dream Team Updates this year, Sonic Mania Plus on Netflix, and 3 more rumored mobile games, including Sonic Toys Party, it's safe to say that 2024 is the year of Sonic on Mobile!

Great video man, unfortunately I wasn't able to complete the Sonic Friends Hat Set, because the Tower of Fortune is basically only accessible to actual Angry Birds 2 players who have gems and not Sonic Fans coming in for the sole purpose of unlocking these hats and what makes it worse is that I actually have a decent account thanks to my childhood 😐 ( btw if anyones curious I only got the Sonic Hat for Red, the Rouge Hat for Matilda and the Cream Hat for Melody)

Yea the cards suck. And you get more standard character cards in a run then you do any of the special ones that are supposed to have higher drop rates

And the Sonic hats are unobtainable after the event in angry birds 2. I saved up 10000 black pearls (the currency for hats in that game) to get some of those hats and they are unbuyable. Also I think the Shadow hat deal costed like $90.

Yk, the energy bar in 2 wasn't always there. Before, it was a hearts system. You only had to wait for hearts if you had lost a level, thus losing a heart. But they never depleted even if you won. That was before.

I've been playing Angry Birds 2 daily for the past 2 years, and I have to say I really enjoyed the event: it was definitely difficult to get all the hats (and max out all their power and appearances), but paying money made it easier, especially for deals that guaranteed you a hat from floor 40 or 50 (they were all Sonic characters, nothing could stop me). You are definitely right that the hat system is flawed with not being accessible for newcomers, but I've always felt like Angry Birds 2 had this sort of "elitist" approach to its design since the beginning, so yeah it's not for everyone. If you wanted those hats, you had to work for them, and once I got them at full power, my bird powers were crazy jacked and helped IMMENSELY with getting high scores in score-based modes like the PvP Arena or Mighty Eagle's Boot Camp.

Here are my thoughts: Let me just start with the fact that I'm a really big Angry Birds fan. It's my favorite franchise of all time, and without that crossover event with Angry Birds Epic and Sonic Dash and the influence of a middle school friend who was a Sonic fan, Sonic would just be one of those franchises that I knew about, but wasn’t really into. Angry Birds 2 - In my opinion, this is a good game, but it definitely has its shortcomings as you brought up in the video. I think the way they handle obtaining event hats is flawed. Every time an event rolls around, all of the event hats in a set are locked to the Tower of (Mis)Fortune or a series of levels that can only be played with birds who have hats from the set. I managed to get the Sonic hat for Red, Cream hat for Melody, and Rouge hat for Matilda, but that's it. Needless to say, I knew that they would handle the Sonic hat set this way. I do have a couple of solutions to try and remedy this situation. First, make the hats purchaseable after the event is over, but make them expensive (just not too expensive to the point where players are pretty much forced to spend money on Black Pearls). Second, decrease the amount of gems needed to continue on in the Tower of Fortune. I think the first time you got a pig, it costs five gems to continue, and I think the amount should go up by five every time. (Ex: 1st time: 5 Gems; 2nd time: 10 Gems; 3rd time: 15 Gems; and so on) Angry Birds Dream Blast - Even as a fan of more lighthearted stuff, I don't think this game is directed towards someone like me, so I didn't feel like checking this out. As a Classic Sonic fan, I did quite like the animated Classic Sonic. Angry Birds Friends - Admittedly, I didn't play this one, but it looks very cool. I really dig the Sonic-themed decorations and stuff. Really cool! Sonic Forces Speed Battle - I'm sorry, but I don't like this game. I stopped playing it because SEGA Hardlight kept adding overpowered characters that were really easy to get, thus leading me to lose a lot of my trophies because I was losing all the time. They did try nerfing them, but it didn't fix anything. The characters were practically still as broken as they were before. From what it looks like, this seemingly isn't a concern, but it was such a problem for me back then that I don't feel like returning. Sonic Dash - I managed to get Red here, but not Chuck, unfortunately. A nitpick of mine is that they're using the movie designs; designs that I wish *stayed* in the movies. Yea, that's it. I know this comment was long, but I had quite a bit to say. I wish this crossover would've lasted longer than a week. Oh well...

You're right, I probably should have addressed the issue with character balancing lmao, but to be fair, because of how you've got trial runs and how easy it is to play as OP characters, I feel like it kinda balances out in a way

For angry birds 2, I 100% agree with you. This game when your going to get all hats is basically gambling. If you try going all the way up there, well good luck screwing yourself over by the pig or missing the hats from the previous floors. I even tried to cheat my way to get infinte gems just to cheese my way to get the sonic hats but didnt get the infinte gems cause the websites are just apk files of the actual game. But then a few days later I got banned permently. And you dont even get another chance because you broke the "terms of service" that nobody reads on this planet. So, don't cheat... or might as well not to do the event at all. Cause like I said, this game is gambling.

Sonic forces speed battle would actually be such an amazing game if it wasnt extremely pay to win. If you spend money on the game you get a huge advantage over players both from having a higher player level and a higher character level, and not to mention the fact that you can also get all the best characters
