When I watched this in theatres with my brother and his friend, the projector cut out right at the moment where Mighty Eagle began pissing, meaning that we and the rest of the audience sat in complete darkness with the sound of someone pissing and moaning. When the problem was fixed, the scene was replayed. It was a confusing, horrifying, and hilarious mess.

Swap the Arctic Trooper With Angry Birds, at least it has A: A steady colt following, and B: Some incredibly talented animators. With Emojis however, just having smiley faces that you use in texts isn’t enough to sustain a feature length film, plus they don’t have a huge reputation (Unless you’re this person I knew in 4th grade who was emotionally attached to emojis for some reason). That’s what I’d like to say. Thank you.

Nothing. They are like Illumination: Bland, and uninspired. But something I want to say about this NC review is that its remarkably, oh what's the word? Shallow. He doesn't even cover such things as the pigs' weird assless-chaps dance, or this film's oddly high number of "adult" jokes. The only one he comments on is the Fifty Shades of Green gag. That scene of Mighty Eagle creepin' on a bird through binoculars was like something out of a Family Guy gag.
@darknessbobulus6 жыл бұрын
I think that's been an issue with nostalgia critic lately. He's seems more focused on making jokes rather than actually talking about the movie. There are better reviewers I found after him like Mysterious Mr. Enter, Alpha Jay and Rebel Taxi that do much better reviews. But I will say this. Nostagia Critic got me interested in watching those other KZbinrs. So I will say he is a good gateway into the review genre.

Yeah that anime trend has almost gotten as old as the genious plot setup of a class getting a new transfer student, who then ofcourse turns out to be a special person who kicks the plot into motion, god I am tired of that one. Last time I saw an anime with that trend, I stopped midway through ep 1 and quit.

in a recent anme. Magical Gil Ore. the spoof "the running late with toast" trope by having the character late, but eating something like "grilled meat with a grill included" or things like that, And in Magical Girl Site, they spof the "student student" by hving 2 charactes which have already been introduced , get in the same class. The first one is for plot convinience, and the second one killed the first's friend. So when they encounter, one tries to kill the other right in the spot. which leads to an even funnier scene which i won't spoil

Did you ever notice how after Frozen, Josh Gad kept being typecasted in movies based on a nostalgic property, for no reason? He was in Pixels. He played LeFou in Beauty and the Beast (2017). And he played the yellow bird in this movie. I think because Olaf was so popular and beloved by many, that they wanted to recreate that same feeling by cashing-in on that. They cast the actor who played him, not realizing that what made Olaf work was: good writing and a good script; actual purpose and meaning in the story; and was genuinely funny. Casting Josh Gad to play an over-the-top character in your movie won't automatically make it good or a success.

@falstafftavern98796 жыл бұрын
I never even heard of gluten until a couple years ago. Now everyone's afraid of something people have eaten for thousands of years.
@cisnt92446 жыл бұрын
It was weird because Gluten is a real thing. It's soy, wheat, and some other bread-like products. And random hipster teenagers ordering "gluten free burgers" and shit really hurts it's representation. If you have something like an ulcer, or Chrone's disease, it can be deadly for you. My dad has a small case of Chrone's, and if he eats gluten he gets really sick.
@tetsujin_1446 жыл бұрын
Here's the thing about gluten: First, yes, for most people there is no reason to avoid gluten - for such people going on a gluten-free diet is (as far as I know) totally stupid, pointless, and even counter-productive. There's no reason to avoid gluten if your body tolerates it, you'd just be paying more for worse food. But some people genuinely can not eat gluten. With celiac disease, for instance, each exposure causes auto-immune damage that makes the symptoms progressively worse. It can start out mild but get worse. The whole gluten-free-fad-diet phenomenon is like a double-edge sword. It means more demand for gluten-free foods which means more availability of gluten-free foods. But it also means people start treating "gluten-free" like a joke - I understand why that happens and why it's funny but personally I don't appreciate it. So yeah it's dumb for "everyone" to be afraid of gluten. But talking about "something people have eaten for thousands of years" is kind of meaningless. How long have people eaten nuts, or shellfish? They're perfectly good foods, but some people do get seriously allergic to them. The fact that lots of people enjoy them, and have done so for many generations, doesn't mean *everyone* can eat them.

Nördisk What’s so good about this? To me this is like an autocompleted movie with gross humor.
@huntercool2232 Жыл бұрын
The biggest issue for me was the overall message of the movie. Ok so Red is a guy who has clearly been through some stuff during his childhood and if everyone was still treating him poorly as an adult, him being so angry all the time would be justifiable. But to be honest he really seems to be the one pushing people away and getting overly upset with stuff people have to deal with every day. Frustration and anger is something we all go through. But the movie tries to make us sympathize with him because he feels lonely and has no friends yet at the same he hates everyone and doesn’t wanna be around anyone. Like bro at that point that’s not a THEM problem it’s a YOU problem. The other birds don’t like him because let’s be real, he’s an asshole. Now don’t get me wrong, I love tragic angry characters who are trying to find a balance their place in the world as much as the next person. But at least with other characters such as Hulk we were able to sympathize with him because everyone saw him as a monster and never gave him a chance which is why he is always so angry. Red is just an anger person all the time even when people are clearly trying to be nice to him. The guy really isn’t that tragic of a person because it’s really his fault he has no friends. And when the pigs arrive he is immediately overly suspicious of them for honestly no reason besides them smashing his house. He is the one who sneaks onto the pigs’ boat already seemingly breaking their trust and the birds rightfully shame him for this as the pigs had so far shown them nothing but kindness. However the worst part is that Red was actually right and the birds praise him for this and make him their leader. So what was the message? To be overly suspicious and untrusting towards people because they’re always up to no good? Like Idk man the only part of the movie that didn’t feel scummy was when Red learns to control his anger for a brief moment at the end and that anger is not always the answer.

I hate that there was clearly some time and talent put into the visuals and sound with a movie so not worth watching. The voice acting and, more importantly, the writing were more than lacking and it hurts it more than anything else. I'd rather see a crudely animated film that's well written than a beautiful one that's hard to sit through. It's such a damn shame that this makes money while smaller films with heart are dangerously underappreciated.
@jburnaquatic6 жыл бұрын
Did you watch angry birds yourself or just this review? I think the film is actually good.
@OrangePixelJuice6 жыл бұрын
The film is alright. Critic here brought up good points, but I believe Doug would have said it is at best an okay movie for you and the kids to watch. It wasnt/isn't as bad, as it is played out to be. Jokes and story were okay, animation was pretty good, and it can be annoying at some segments. Otherwise, it's fine. Not as bad as it could have been. Maybe the sequel will be better.
@LeontheSmithy6 жыл бұрын
I agree, there was love put into the animation but my god the story, dialogue, and jokes were so bad. I took my nephew to watch this movie (out of his request, plus he needed a chaperone) and the only people laughing at the jokes were little kids. No adults were laughing with the movie. It goes to show you that there was no thought put into the movie because it was going for the lowest hanging fruit, the little kids. It's not a movie I can find adults actually enjoying, which is unfortunate because there were other better films for families to watch like Kubo and the Two Strings, which was a phenomonal movie (and had humor way better than angry birds and it's not even labeled a comedy film) and that movie ended up doing bad at the BO while angry birds ended doing really well at the BO despite being a piece of shit.
@TJThornberry6 жыл бұрын
Orange Pixel Studios I felt it was a half decent, middle of the road movie. Not terrible, but certainly not great either. I'm just saying that people should expect and get more out of these. Just because it's a kids movie doesn't mean it can't be funny or clever.
@harrison17356 жыл бұрын
LeontheSmithy A lot of humor aimed at kids is lazy because the writers can assume that even if it’s a cliché joke that’s been done a million times a child audience might still be hearing it for the first time. They’re not motivated to try harder.
