I don't like old n64 madden games they don't have dlc. I need to spend hundreds of dollars in footyball coins to enjoy football also these n64 games need full intergration with online casinos...I mean loot mechanic websites Wink wink.

That would've been cool if the Madden Classic mode still had the announcers calling the game. Just like we did when we were kids.

Thank you for covering sports games! This video is great! I loved the N64 Madden games. '99 was probably my most played on the N64.

I know a lot of people hate sports game but I love them, especially for the N64. What about a NBA on N64 video next, John?

I’m not into football but I watched this because I enjoy your ranking videos. They’re probably my favorite videos you have done. I appreciate your enthusiasm for video games a ton, even for games that aren’t my thing. I hope to see more of these!

These old Madden games and retro sports games in general will always be better than the newer ones for one major reason: NO MICROTRANSACTIONS!!

The clip that John showed for Madden Classic appears to be from Madden 1993 as my brother and I had that one on the Genesis. When we first got it and were playing it for the first time, we got to halftime, and then it brought up a listing of "Scores From Other Playoff Games." Once it had shown some of them, it then said it was going to display "Highlights From Other Playoff Games." My brother and I were both like "Wait...WHAT?" Being not long after the 8-bit era, we'd never seen anything like that in a sports game before. After showing the game-winning field goals for a couple of games, it then brought up the Philly Eagles playing at the Atlanta Falcons, with the Eagles up by six with about a minute left in the game. The Falcons had the ball on their own 20 yard line. The Falcons quarterback then threw a pass to Michael Haynes, who had run a slant pattern and caught it. When he caught it, the crowd cheered. He then managed to make both of the Eagles safeties miss, and the crowd went completely bananas. Note that Haynes finished second in the NFL's Fastest Man contest in 1993 so it was obvious that he'd get a touchdown. In real life at that time, if the Falcons had upset the Eagles in the playoffs, the crowd really would've gone bananas like that. It remains to this day one of the most realistic things I've ever seen in a sports video game. This might be a minority viewpoint, but I myself think that Madden 1993 struck a better balance between arcade action and football realism than Tecmo Super Bowl did, and I've always felt that it was the better game.

I have Madden 2002 for the GameCube. Is that classic Madden feature only for the N64 version? I can't remember if it's on the GameCube. Might have to bust out the good ol GC and play a little playoff brackets. That was always my favorite feature. Don't know when that started or ended for the franchise.
