Coming back after the Packers draft, just LOVE hearing your opinion about not only Watson (Arod is going to get all of his potential out of him) but also Romeo Doubs, if his medical checks out, he's going to be a fun addition to put on the field on play action, Watson getting attention from the Safety and then have Doubs fly past on the backside. This is going to be a fun rookie WR class!

Pickens: Pending focus and concentration can be like a Jerry Rice type of player but also medicals is knocking him down as well. Remember Rice didn't run a great 40 time either but the focus on his off season workout regimen was great and it showed on the field which he became a deep threat. Pickens can be as good as he wants to be depending on his work ethic...

Phillips is not “scrappy”. He is legit tough and physical. He put on some great blocks on his tape. Obviously I think he will predominantly a Slot in the NFL but I think there is some upside there and that physicality allows him to play on the outside. I think Chip Kelly did him a disservice not getting him any snap at X or Z. I tweeted that once and Phillips actually liked my tweet.

I really like George Pickens. Everybody thinking he'd fall far into the 2nd round seem to be sleeping on him. He is a 1st round talent, and if he hadn't missed most of the season due to an ACL injury, he'd be a top WR prospect in the draft. I'd be super happy if my Packers took him. If the Lions take a receiver, can we get an Amon Ra St. Brown video to help us understand the dynamic going on there?
@Rawrbagels

My guesses Williams at 10 to the jets. Wilson likes to go over the top, get the speed guy. London at 15 to Eagles. Hurts needs the jump ball guy. Wilson at 16 to Saints. They are going to want a open guy for either Winston or maybe a Ridder. Olave or Pickens at 22 to the packers. Burks at 26 to Titans. Watson at 29 to Chiefs. Replace speed with speed.

That said....I REALLY wanted Pierce. Watson fills the void MVS leaves....which is bigger than just what he did statistically, but the deep threat is just huge....YUGE for an offense like this one. Gotta take the top off the defense. Now...gotta find a WRer who will be on a rookie deal that a team is willing to trade who can do the things Adams did. The back shoulder throws, going over the middle, the sure handed possession receivers....

we don’t need him to be a burner, we have cooks for that. we needed a reliable slot who can create separation in routes & is not afraid to get hit in the middle of the field. metchie can provide us with all of that.

Don’t over think dot, 2 most valuable attributes on a receiver: the ability to separate and ball skills. He’s elite in both categories, anyone knocking his size hasn’t paid attention to league trends at the receiver position. Ball skills matter, it’s the most important trait at the receiver position. If you’re a QB you trust him, he’ll be a high volume target candidate and he’ll product. Recognize as productive as he was, his production was severely limited by quarterback play. Draft him anywhere past pick 5 and he’ll justify the selection. Don’t over think quality. Don’t overthink Jahan Dotson

Keep in mind Brett that NDSU's offense is a run first offense with everything else being Watson making explosive plays of the success of the run. Watson's QB's only threw the ball at least 25x in a game once on the year. Compare that to the Ohio St. QB and Alabama's QB who threw 25x in a game a total of 22 games last year combined. Watson's drop rate is magnified because of the low amounts of rec attempts/targets he's had. But he also accounts for a bigger % of NDSU's offense overall all at roughly 33%.

I gotta agree. Speed's nice but it seems a bit over valued while physical or route running specialists, some with great hands, got knocked a bit here. The players in the top tiers may get drafted the highest but don't be surprised if a tier 3 or 4 guy ends up being the only all pro of the class at wr, it certainly wouldn't be the first time that's happened across a draft.
