Everybody outside of Autosport had settled on Max as the best driver long before Brasil. It is just so funny how these guys are so gutted that they have no other choice but to select Max that they actually spend all the time talking about his negatives😂.

Not a Max fan but I would argue this season was his best. 23 season the car was so far ahead of the others, Max could have made tons of mistakes and still won at a canter. This season he had to beat a better car, have the worst teammate available and a team seemingly losing its way with lots of off track issues. He also destroyed Norris lets be honest. He beat Norris to the point where I think Norris now has massive self doubt and has been rattled. A Schumacher-esque year from Max

could not agree more with everything you said. Max broke Lando this year. If Lando had been in the 21 fight he would of had a mental breakdown. I don't think he has the mental fortitude to fight for a championship against Max, Lewis or Fernando (if he has the car in '25)

Max this year has raised his game a lot to win the championship. If you look at all the other drivers competing especially with faster cars, it is clear that Max has to raise his game to stay in touch with championship. The Red Bull car is often 3-4 fastest car. If you see Perez can’t even make it through Q1, my view of a 4th fastest car is actually very generous. This just show how incredible Max level is. I have not seen any other driver who can elevate a weak car to a championship win since Michael Schumacher days. Senna, Alonso and Vettel has shown some magic with under performing cars but never a championship with a weak car. Hamilton is one driver who has the longest steak of championship winning cars. So no wonder he owns most of the records in F1.

Really enjoyable top 50, thanks autosport for these 5 episodes of interesting holiday viewing - of course nobody is gonna 100% agree (!) but nice to see a good mix of drivers from different categories included (Personally, imo I would have included Newgarden somewhere in the top 50 & taken out at least a couple of F1 drivers lol…)

Neuville should be higher - and played the points system perfectly. Winning events wasn't as important as it used to be; racking up points was what he did.

leclerc is a deserved 2nd2024 showed he has cut down his mistakes improved racecraft and become opportunistic the fact mclaren barely won by 14 points shows how good the ferrari drivers were especially leclerc with inferior car

Honestly seeing Lando in 3rd makes perfect sense. If he had been 1st or even 2nd I would call foul. He's a good driver but in terms of a top driver I'd rank him in the very bottom of the top f1 drivers. To many mistakes and not nearly mentally stable enough to handle a champion run without breaking. Had he been fighting in 21 he would have broke completely. Look at how he cracked this season when under pressure. He is way to weak mentally to fight

Charles also dominated on track in the first half of 2022, when the car was good (Won + would have won if not for Ferrari 8/13 races before the car fell off, seb in 09/10, schumi in 94, lewis in 07/08, rosberg in 14/16 They all won, or put in a actual challenge, at the first shot. Lando had the best car, with perfect reliability, and nearly finished 3rd

Have lando in the top 10 is criminal British bias, he made so many mistakes in the best car. Its pathetic. Palou should be miles ahead of him but obviously you just carry bias in to everything

I think them putting Lando over Palou is more F1 bias rather than British bias. Palou should be second above Leclerc. Oscar shouldn’t even be in the to 50.
