Fan bloody tastic , I also raced 125s in the early 80s had no clue what I was doing but great times with big grids, a mini 850 with a bike trailer and a two man ridge tent, then off to Cadwell in the snow, not many would have that commitment now, money is now the big factor and being honest I don't see that that sort of pure dedication anymore, possibly this was our adrenalin fix, no internet, no mobiles, lets go racing while also having fantastic fun.
@OffTrack_Podcast

There’s a lot to be said for that way of racing, no question. Time doesn’t stand still and it’s a very different paddock today as I’m sure you know. Isn’t right? That’s up for debate; is it better? In some ways yes but in so many ways…. No.

Another fabulous interview with another absolute legend. Love Whit, both as a rider and a commentator on BSB. Really miss Jack Burnicle in the commentary booth with James, they were fantastic together, no disrespect to Steve Day, but the Jack and James show just made it. Brilliant interview again Dave, I love how you ask a question and then just sit back and let them answer it in full. Love this podcast 👍✊

Thanks so much! Asking a question and then just STFU and let the guest tell their answer is an art I’ve worked hard on so thank you for your kind words 😊 Jack and James were exceptional, no question; they had hundreds of races to get acquainted at both WorldSBK and BSB level so it was always gonna take time for James and Steve to find that chemistry but it’s getting there. Thanks so much for your kind words 🙏🏼

@@OffTrack_PodcastThat would be great. 😊 I remember him having some cracking battles in the 90's in World Supersport before his time in World Superbikes. Time can make memories alter but I'm sure him and four/five others seemed to be battling it out every round one season. Was it the Belgada Yamaha, that could be totally wrong but I think it was something like that.

@@OffTrack_PodcastYES! JH flies under the radar but what a lovely bloke. It's been cool seeing him evolve in his broadcasting career to what we see and hear today. I always judge these things on "would I miss him/her if they weren't there" and the BSB team has no fat if that makes sense. James H would leave a noticeable gap. And what a rider. B*lls like spacehoppers lol. Serious question though Dave. Do you know if these guys are aware of how loved and respected they actually are?

No problem, it was fun and due to a connection with the charity I took the mini motorbike as a raffle prize in with us . We were surprisingly ushered through into the back where the lads and PM the sponsor were . You can imagine what one was like about the bike . Oh it won't start . Eh no fuel . Why ? Safety etc . At which point our hero gave his thoughts on how on earth he had ever had his own wsb team 😂 Probably the funniest coffee I had in years . Then Birdy and Dave came in !!! 😂

They have their chosen ones in Jake, Scott and Eddie. They won’t deviate from that and it’s going to bite them, especially TNT - there’s potentially 3 or 5 years until we could see a Brit in MotoGP on top of the four seasons we’ve already had if Jake doesn’t get a shot… on the flip side we have three in the top ten in F1.
