Good timing Andrew, Misha here! Yesterday was my day 1 of learning the handstand albeit on parallettes the body line was my main issue so the dreaded face to wall will be implemented soon 😢

Mate, good job on starting! And yeah that will be a hard one to drill, but as with all things Handstand related, small and consistent work gives the best results. Go easy to begin with and it will come 👊🏿 Keep me posted on how it goes, Misha! 💪🏿

this is a really great breakdown andrew, and i agree completely with your ranking system. i've found that there isn't any substitute for stomach and back to the wall practice, open floor practice and kickups. your skill level is well beyond mine, but i've found your top tier exercises to provide the most benefit in my progress.

Hey mate thanks a lot for this video. I’ve tried to learn the handstand before and got absolutely nowhere other than an increase in my overhead pressing strength. My most important goal for this year is to be able to balance a handstand. I start my training in February, and I’ll do it along with my gymbro who’s also interested. I had a question, which is about the shoulderstand, an exercise where you balance the bottom of a HSPU. I’ve heard some people saying it’s a good progression for the handstand, what do you think? Again, thanks a lot. I love your content :3

Yeah it can be a crazy frustrating skill to learn but trust me it is one of the most rewardingly therapeutic skills out there! On your question, the shoulder stand is a great isometric for getting used to the HSPU and building strength in that hard bottom position. , but for balance, not really that useful to be honest. For you starting out, I suggest prioritising the S tier skills here 👊🏿 Good luck with your training

Yeah totally man. I’ll make sure to focus on doing wall handstands, both chest and back to wall (even though I hate back to wall so much), as well as some shoulder mobilisation and maybe some frog stands if I like them :3
